Hello SSG,
What degree are we talking (between his Vertex/Node etc and your Vertex? What is the orb?
Yes, Vertex contacts can make us 'act out of character' big time!

Oh yes, and I would be watching the transit of Saturn over this point!
Does anyone else have the experience of vertex conjunct vertex by synastry?
Comments?

Kim and All,
I am occasionally riveted and even made skittish by the vertex. As you know what brought me here in the first place was the odd situation with D. where his ascendant and vertex mirrored/reversed mine so -- Me--Vertex 27 Cancer Him Ascendant 27Cancer. Then Me Ascendant 13 Sag -Him Vertex 13 Sagittarius.
I am never quite certain what to make of the Vertex because I alway assumed that there had to be a close planetary contact involved to have meaning or significanr impact, but with our ascendants and vertexes reverse identical as they are there seems to be a relenteless karmic pull. (Sure it does not help that our Venuses are square and my Pluto opposes his Venus and our Eros and Psyche conjunct in all places fiery Aries).... But I also want to add, and I will try to open another thread now on this chart but my beloved 13 year old son who like me may end up being D's patient when he leaves the care of the children's hospital does have a tight conjunct Vertex with D. So the connection to D/ continues to mystify, draw and frighten me because what are the odds of these ties?
My son's Sun and Vertex, Venus and Vesta are 14 Sag! My Rising is 13 Sag D's Vertex is 13 Sag and let's just make it even more unsettling my heart and soul daughter--only 9 has her Venus at 13 Sag. The only one who does not have a similar or any Sag placement for that matter is my husband.
What I am beginning to see in my limited research into close vertex contacts is that the people involved are sometimes like glue to each other. I mean the links seem to persist for extraordinary lessons. My son has his SUN, Venus, Vesta and Vertex at 13/14 Sag. My Ascendant is 13 Sag!. We are not only son and mom (w/near identical moons) but we have a very serious connection. We often sit in a room together for hours each doing his thing. I do not know but I just seem to sense things with Vertex contact people. Has anyone else seen these contacts in their families and with very deep lingering ties with others?

orchids, those are some amazingly synchronous placements among the four of you!
You might find comfort in that such shared connections point to a beautiful, purposeful cosmic pattern. Although, man, I do indeed relate to the glue/karmic pull energy you describe. I have a connection in my own life that involves a Venus/Vertex conjunction square Eros, and it's been incessant. No way to extricate myself from the energy, only to let it work its magic in me. From my current vantage point (3-1/2 months into the connection), it appears to be drawing my own Venus/Eros energy out-out-out, so the relationship is working as a very powerful catalyst. There are a lot of squares in the composite & synastry, which create so much tension & movement, but your own connection, with the squared Venuses & Pluto/Venus, and your potent Eros/Psyche contact sounds downright combustible!
Have you looked into the decans & dwads for these placements? Am curious what they would reveal!

Thanks Samina. I thinkyou are right. I do find comfort in and try to understand that it's not a figament. The torture part is not being able to talk about what I see and feel with this tie. I find that Venus Vertex link you have interesting. I cannot imagine having to put up with that one. LOL. Yes incessant. Incessant seems to me to be the thing with vertices. My daughter's Venus is 0 degrees orb on D's Vertex and my son's Venus on D's Descendant. Bizarre. I have not looked into the decans & dwads for these placements since i 'm not sure what that means. But I will look into it at some point I'm sure. Always lookig for answers! I will put the chart here of D. and sun. Check out the vertexes and the angles all conjunct! Note all their Saturn conjunctions: samina

Oh, yes, absolutely! I know what you mean. I'm already making plans to sever my professional relationship with the person in my life because I don't want to feel that torture anymore. I've reached my MTT: maximum torture threshhold! LOL I feel that whatever this man was supposed to catalyze has already been achieved... or at least, I'm calling out "uncle".
Look at that Saturn/Neptune/Uranus/Pallas contact in the 6th, and the Jupiter/Moon contact on the 4th. Talk about nurturing, healing energy!

Well Kim and friends For anyone doing a little bit of ongoing research on the Vertex. I wanted to test whether or not close or tight transits to the VERTEX my personal planets or points coincided with major life's events. When my first born, our son came into the world! (nine pounds natural childbirth....good story ...) Mars was at Cancer 27/22 and my Vertex is at Cancer 27/16.! (Come on Kim say something erudite and delicious about MARS and pushing out a 9 lb 5 oz baby boy...!!! When our second, a daughter was born, the Moon was conjuncting my Vertex. My Vertex is 27 Cancer--the moon was at 29 Cancer-- Neptune was at 26 Capricorn. What's interesting is that she was 3 weeks early ... Now check this one out. My wedding day Vertex Cancer 27. Juno 27 Capricorn. Awesome tight opposition..meaning? My miscarriage of second pregnancy, Vertex 27 Cancer, Venus Transits at 29 Cancer, Uranus transits OPPOSITE at Capricorn 28.

BlueOrchids, All I can say is, “Aren’t you GLAD Mars was in Cancer conjunct your Vertex when you had to push that 9lb baby out? My daughter-in-law just had a baby girl, 10lb 4 oz, with a midwife in a birthing center (natural) and at the moment of birth, VENUS was on her vertex in Scorpio! (She’s an Aries and Mars is ‘always on her side’.) I’m so interested in your vertex sign. Here it is in cancer and you experience this potent conjunctions when you are ‘doing’ Cancer big time. My Vertex is in Capricorn and transits there seem to correlate with advancements, achievements and spiritual epiphanies (the Sea-Goat = mystic/pragmatist). You have sparked my interest in looking closer a the sign the vertex is in. And, when you think about how accurate a birth time may be (or may not be) for something as fast moving as the vertex (about a degree every 4 minutes, like the ascendant) a little leeway is allowed! Can anyone else comment on contacts to their Vertex in relationship to the sign it is in or the planet that is making the transit? Thanks for these insights! Kim

I don't how I missed responding to this Kim but I love the story of your daughter in law...Funny the similarities. My sun is Gemini but I do have my moon and mars in Aries and yes, it has a way of being on your side when you need it....
My vertex is in Cancer but interestingly enough it is also in the 8th house.
Today I looked at my mom's sudden death (March 2000) and I note that Pluto had transited directly to my ascendant (conjunct less than 1 orb) and my north node was conjunct the Vertex (albeit 4 degrees wide).

Interesting connection with your Node. Is that 'true or mean'? It might bring the degree closer...
These are all turning points--evoking such a range of feeling and emtotion!
Warmly, Kim

i've been thinking about the vertex, rooting through older posts here, and wanted to share some experiences.
the first is a friend with her taurus chiron on my vertex (this chiron is on her MC), orb of a couple of minutes. when i met her, i felt an, "oh, there you are" kind of thing from her, like she could finally take a deep breath having located me and learned that i'm doing well. she's a healer, currently in her first formalized venture, rosen method, and i got a treatment from her on sunday.
another is a friend i met through her, with her sun a degree off my antivertex. i should say her venus is also on my sun within 20 minutes or so. we experienced a combined electrical storm upon meeting, and i felt that she was my wife, already my wife...in the past, but the bond was still there. it was very hard to separate what was clearly the present from the past. we met at a thanksgiving dinner, and afterward we talked for a minute, and i agreed to do an informal reading for her. that turned into two hours of intense work on her chart, and when we hugged afterward, we couldn't let go, and time stopped and things in us started exploding. overall, our relationship seems about bringing ourselves to be more of ourselves, so that we could meet the intensity of the other with integrity. does that make sense? said another way, we each had the sense that in order to meet the other as we wish, we had to start digging deep and bringing out the intensity each carried that no one else had seemed to want. so we were mining our authenticities just to be able to honor the love we had for each other (that already existed). we're both scorpios who'd been unsure of how to do that out loud, given the "um, you're just too intense for me" reactions we'd garnered over most of our lives. we don't keep up very much, but can tell when things in each other's lives get interesting. there's a connection that doesn't seem to fade.
and the third story is a woman i recently met. her jupiter-venus conjunction is 2.5 degrees from my vertex, which i know a lot of people wouldn't count. (i have experienced women with jupiter-venus conjunctions as blinding, so my perspective may be a little prerational.) but my sun is a degree off her vertex, and then her moon is on my venus-ascendant. also, our suns are pretty tightly trine.

Hello Tom, Thanks for bringing up the Vertex thread again! I think Isabelle would like to read through some of this...with that eclipse just on her own natal Vtx! You said, our relationship seems about bringing ourselves to be more of ourselves, so that we could meet the intensity of the other with integrity.Yes, makes perfect sense. Your examples show the significance and 'turning point' quality these contacts can bring. Do you think the 3rd example has effected you in this way too? Curious about the comment on Venus/Jupiter. I have the conjunction within 5 minutes! I'm pretty subjective about it...I think it coincides with an attraction for someone 'larger than life'...not always an asset! Kim

tom, thanks for sharing your experiences. i am fascinated by vertex contacts in synastry. i met someone last fall whose venus is on my vertex in my 7th house, and i immediately experienced the connection as a turning point, a kind of dividing line in my relationship life. the contact involves a 6 degree orb, and still very powerful. the "turning point" took about 6 months to process, from initial meeting to final release. it remained a professional relationship but had a very strong intimate pull, and i am truly different on this side of the experience! but i remember that from the beginning of the connection i felt like he could be "the love of my life", "my husband" -- not qualities i was actively looking for or inclined to consciously project on *anyone*. he just plucked those aspects of myself and gave me a chance to experience them more profoundly.
because of this contact, i looked at the charts of numerous other relationships in my life... if found that my ex-husband's sun-venus conjunction is also on my vertex, with 4/5 degree orbs. that was also an instant connection and certainly a turning point in my life with respect to relationship.
my oldest son's jupiter is on my vertex (2 degree orb), and his vertex is smack in between my uranus/pluto conjunction, conjunct my sun/moon midpoint (again, 2 degrees). i have to say, becoming a mother for the first time was perhaps the greatest turning point in my life, and he brought a particular set of challenges that completely shifted my whole frame of being in the world. eighteen years later, i have to say this relationship has been a profound, primary pivot in my life in many, many ways. we really help each other grow.
with my other son, none of his planets are on my vertex, but my mercury is exactly conjunct his vertex and 2 degrees off his amor asteroid. this is a very demonstrative, communicative, deeply affection connection where each of us very often says what the other is thinking.
but these are the only vertex contacts i could find in the charts of my major relationships -- absolutely nothing in the minor relationships. so interesting how the vertex shows up!
