Hi guys, Here's my Mars Return, occurring this week. I would expect, with Mars prominently conjunct the MC, it's gonna be a very active period! I also really like the Chiron/Vertex conjunction in the 5th -- speaks to me of a creative outpouring that my natal 5th-house Saturn has craved & worked hard toward since childhood. The MR 11th house Saturn *so* fits... I'm 1000% focused these days on how to build foundations under my creative dreams. The DSC/7th house activations tell me I'm not gonna be going it alone, too.. that relationships will be key in manifesting my goals. And perhaps that relationships will themselves be the goals? Anybody have experience interpreting Mars returns? samina

I'm not the best at interpreting charts, but I think it's a terrific sign that Mars is conjunct the MC...whatever 'action' you'll be embarking on, it will be there for all to see (the energy will be reflected in your public standing/profession)...your ego and ambition is elevated...I personally view the MC as a second asc...I believe that from a distance, people first spot your MC...then as they get closer, they see the qualities of the asc...and when they fully become a part of your circle, the sun sign starts to reveal itself...so in keeping with that thought, it's almost like you'll be expressing the qualities associated with Mars in Gemini to the hilt, further emphasizing initiatory action that is directed towards a variety of "mercurial" endeavors (and the ability to handle the details, as evident with the Virgo asc.)... Also, with Uranus on the desc., you might find unexpected assistance (or in some cases resistance) from those who you have or form some sort of partnership or mutual agreement with...the Sun-Uranus conjunction tells me that whatever steps you take, they will be "solar" powered by your intense desire to shake things up and create change (and you could attract or be attracted to others who are likeminded)... It's lovely that your chart caught the tail end of the Venus-Mars trine...and with Venus in the 5th house in aspect to Mars (which brings us back to the MC)...you could find yourself feeling more creatively charged and inspired in your dealings with the "world"...as well as outwardly appearing more romance minded, which could attract a potential partner if you don't already have one.... I'm also drawn to this Chiron-Vertex conjunction...there could be a healer, mentor, encouraging partner, etc. that could play a role in your upward momentum in some fashion or another...maybe even a child?!(5th house)... I hope that helps...lots of good stuff to look forward to in this new Mars cycle! Here's a site that I found that talks specifically about Mars Returns... Thanks for the link on the Mars return lunarivera! I hadn't even realized that my own Mars return is upcoming at Gem 16. The amount of energy which has surged into my life has been pretty awesome! It felt like a powerful shot of 'oompf' that pushed me past a barrier of sorts.
I am not sure what to be looking for with this return. Hopefully, several other people will comment on the Mars return chart samina posted and I can then translate it to my own upcoming one. Returns are something I have yet to learn about and am very curious as this energy seemed to come out of the woods for me a in BIG way!!
Tr. Mars just pushed past my n. Juno-Venus-NNode stellium and suddenly the men in my life seemed to be changing....in good ways! So Samina, please continue to share the insights that come to you at this time....how intriguing!
Hugs-Kathleen

luna, I love your description of how other's come to see the MC-ASC-Sun. Very insightful and makes sense to me. I also like the image of Mars up on the MC, creating a portal for all my effort to be visible and to "make their mark"! Having Virgo on the ASC is very comforting to me right now, because there are so many details I need and want to attend to -- projecting myself into the world with very strong Virgo energy for awhile is *very* appealing! I think Virgo gets a bad rap so much of the time, but I'm very happy to vibin' her energy! I've really been connecting to the alchemist energy of Mars in Gemini -- I mean, with Mars in my natal 8th, I'd say that's been a theme all my life, but particularly right now, I feel reminded very strongly of the power to manifest through energized thought and the spoken word. Gemini is so creative and able to shape-shift matter so quickly... my Gemini Mars-Mercury-Venus are humming with such energy right now and I feel as if I were sitting in a figurative cauldron of creativity. I keep hearing "What would you create, now, with all this energy coursing through your cells & chakras??? Make some choices, wrap some matter around them and make them real... *shape your life through the power of thought & intention*!" Cool, cool message. luna, I think you're right on about the mentor aspect of the Chiron-Vertex conjunction above... in fact, I think there may be a plethora of creative mentors over the next couple years. luna & Gem, let's see your returns, too! I'm gonna read the link that luna posted so I have a better sense of how to read the returns... thanks for your input, guys! samina

Samina,
Like all returns, they are transit charts that need to be read back to the natal. Can you post it so we get an idea of where this return chart is 'earthed'?

Kim...is that where you post it as a synastry chart? Mars Return chart + natal chart?

Sure, Kim -- I replaced the chart above with a bi-wheel showing my natal & the mars return. I was reading the return chart back to the natal last night and saw a few things of note: 1) My natal Uranus/Pluto conjunction opposing Saturn straddles the ASC/DSC axis of the return chart.. which *also* occurs in my current solar return chart. 2) Uranus not only conjuncts the DSC in the Mars return chart, but also in my solar return chart. Uranus co-rules my natal 5th house. 3) That Sun/Uranus conjunction in the return chart is conjunct my natal 5th-house Saturn, reinforcing the dominant theme in my life right now of experiencing a huge creative rennaissance. Performance and creative energy has unexpectedly become such a huge force in my life in the past year, and has been super-charging my energy more & more as the days pass! I only want to go *more* in that direction, both with dancing (ballroom & salsa, even competing eventually) as well as going back to school for music composition & songwriting. You know what, I'll post my solar return chart as well. so you can see what I see...

Hi guys, The way I look at return charts is to put them side by side, or one above the other, the natal and the return as distinct charts...that way I get the 'hit' of the return as it is (it's ascendant, angles etc) and then I transpose it mentally back to the natal. You can do them like a synastry (as GemStar queried) and they look like natals with transits around them (which they are)...just make sure the natal is on the INSIDE, and perhaps find a chart style that has the degrees clearer. If you want me to read them, note I still prefer to look at two charts...just what I am used to I guess. I find the synastry wheel, like above, difficult to grock because we can't 'see' the natal where it stand. You've made the return the primary chart and turned the natal into the transits...I have to transpose everything to ‘see’ it. Geez...I sound so pedantic! I have Mars conjunct the Sun today! Can you tell??? lol So yes, your natal Ur/Pl is rising in the return chart...big changes in the energy work cycle I would imagine! Oh, hang on, that's your Solar Return...oh, and the Mars return is up at the top....Okay...let's stick to one return at a time...I'm going to do the natal and return Mars, look at it and come back... Aaaahhhh... okay! Well, let me make it easier and include the two charts here, side by side. The first is the Mars return, the second is the natal... Thanks for clarifying, Kim! And nothiing pedantic about your approach! MARS RETURN NATAL

Thanks for that! You can start to unravel this return by looking at the Ascendant. What natal house does it represent? What can you say about 12th house experiences that might integrate into your life in the next 2 years? Look at what natal planets are rising in the MR chart! What kind of potent, urgent energy do you think is coming to the foreground? How will you use it? Where is Aries in the MR chart? That is where things 'begin'...What new 8th house adventures might you be planning? Note the repeat of Mars square Uranus in both charts. Will you find new ways of expressing this powerful energy? How has it come out in the past? What ways might you 'let it out' creatively in the future? Will partnership be involved? What can you see here? Comments? Kim

Thanks Kim for stating to look at BOTH charts...and side by side gives it clearer viewing somehow...I want to post mine as well yet will wait until samina gets a little further along as she has her return sooner!!
I feel a bit lost in doing this comparison and am looking forward to figuring out how this energy will best be utilized for me....changesDO feel close by...but all I seem to 'feel' at the moment is the energy....not the direction!! Arrgghhh...(thanks to my current tr. Neptune sq n. Neptune)... Does this Mars return have to always express 'creatively' ? Or is it just in samina's chart?

Oh no, nothing has to express 'creatively'...as we know, plenty of things express destructively (which may be creative in the big picture but usually not in the moment). Mars energy is ACTION. Where will there be action in the chart? Samina has Mars conjunct the 9th house cusp and the return always comes back to this. Where will she take joint resources (or borrowed finances, or occult teaching, research and shared projects) from the 8th house, and move them OUT into new horizons, integrating into her belief system what she discovers as meaningful (9th house). Will she start a new level of higher education, getting a student loan to do so? Will she travel to a foreign country with a lover or intimate friend? Will she fundraise to start a meditation center? Will she pool finances to start a market garden co-op? These are what I personal perceive as creative expressions of Mars. She may get into fights and arguments with her lover or partner over finances. She may explode in a fire of wrath at her doctor who suggests a procedure that goes against her philosophy or beliefs. She may get a fever or infection just when she's mean to start uni or go over seas. These to me seem less creative expressions of Mars...but it's all Mars energy and really, who is to say that blowing up at someone (who probable needs the jolt) isn't just the perfect thing to do...or that sweating out a fever in bed is going to bring more psychic growth and awareness than a weekend in Paris with the new boy friend!!! It's all energy....Do you see what I mean? Just take the return one step at a time....follow the steps in my article on the main website (Reading Return Charts) www.nrg.com.au/~d-falcon/Returns.htmand write out your findings step by step...we can do that with Samina's first, then post yours for compare-contrast. Kim, thanks for posting your wonderfully thought-provoking questions. I have been mulling them over much of the day & plan on sharing my thoughts on the matter tomorrow a.m.
I so appreciate your guidance in learning how to glean the insight these returns offer!
My Mars return became exact today, and I've felt the energy shift & intensify. It always blows my mind how palpable transits can be, especially house changes & planetary conjunctions. Amazing.
But in the morning my thoughts will be clearer...

WOW...Great article! For the first time, it has sunk in about 'Returns!" They have always been a sort of mystery to me and I had been frustrated as to how to read them. OK...Kim, your article gave great direction and I will start working on mine separately and am excited to read samina's comments!! Samina...please write specifically regarding thoughts or actions you have decided or gleamed during today...it will be really helpful! Hugs- GemStar
