Hi everyone
I'm not sure if the information I'm about to post is already contained in this thread because I haven't had time to re-read it all ... so my apologies if it's already here. This is from Bernadette Brady's Visual Astrology Newsletter - September 2006.
The Solar Eclipse on 22 September, 2006, which will occur at 29 Degrees Virgo belongs to Saros Series 8 South (Jansky method of naming).
This solar eclipse belongs to a series which commenced 1 April, 1718, at 0:15:02 GMT (chart right) and will be active until 30 April, 2962. The first eclipse in this series contained Saturn forming an exact opposition to the short arc midpoint between the solar eclipse and Mars. I delineated this combination as:
Separation and loss. To be parted. To finish something, and to feel sad at its completion. Physical injury is also possible through over-straining one’s strength. (Brady:1992:319)
So this eclipse suggests that people and/or countries that have a sensitive natal point at 29 Degrees mutable (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) will have to end something, complete a hard process or let go of something.
It is therefore a difficult eclipse season and a Babylonian approach was to use a substitute king, an individual who was killed in order that the prophecy of the difficult eclipse was fulfilled. If your chart is being influenced by this season of eclipses, then you may be able to use a more gentler version of this ancient method by deciding to let go of something of your choice, something that needs to leave your life naturally, so at least you are more in control of selecting the nature of the parting indicated.

I have Jupiter 26 Virgo Chiron 1 Libra Nep 4 Libra 5th house- hope I do not have to give up completely my visit home that existence keeps delaying -hope it helps me let go of this house gently instead-I sure have been trying but the gods seem against it and I have had to surrender My son has 26 Virgo Pluto on cusp of 4th I have been a bit nervous about that as he is an extremist altho quite old now Not long to see what happens to whom I remember getting all worked up about when Chiron went over this lot and all that happened was my son paid for the whole family to go to see him in an event 2000 miles away Sometimes these things pass so mildly....... Tho' the Pope seems to have stirred up a big row poor love Tho' it may lead to some good interfaith dialogue

Suz, thanks for that. I, too, have not been able to read all the posts here. I know that there might be some fear around the idea of "letting go," but Virgo is a great sign for doing just that--letting things go that are no longer in your best interests.
The solar eclipse at 29 Virgo manifested for me about three weeks ago, and who knows, there may be more.
But in my natal chart, my first name asteroid is at 29 Virgo (the point of the upcoming solar eclipse) and it is within one degree square of my natal Sappho--an important asteroid in my chart.
Wouldn't you know, and I did report this earlier but it just hit me this morning: The colleague (who is a dear friend and someone I have known for over 20 years) who I absolutely had to tell that I could not work with her anymore in the musical teaching organization I founded (Sappho) is the same first name as me! So, indeed, "Kate" and "Sappho" were hit by the eclipse.
And it has worked out beautifully, as difficult as it was to do. This is something that I have let drag on for 7 years....
Kris, nice to hear from you. Where is everyone these days? I know I have been processing transiting Eros opposition natal Chiron/Eros. OUCH. Much to work through.
Take care, Amoroso

This thread is HUGE...we have a wealth of information here if anyone wants to dig for it (or search). Thank you Suz for the excerpt from the Visual Astrology News Letter. Here is the link if anyone wants to read it in full. www.zyntara.com/van_Sept2006/VAN_Sept2006.htmWith Jupiter at 29 Gem, I'm thinking about what needs to be let go of! (Amoroso, that is a wonderful example of name asteroid synchronicity! Wow!) Warmly, Kim

I'm so glad you're happy Jade.
Can anyone fill me in on something. I was sent the above mentioned newsletter by a friend and spent my whole day diverted from the work I needed to do, researching the discreptency in the dates of the beginning of this cycle used by Bernadete Brady and the astronomers of the world.. I searched and searched, no eclipse occured at 11 Aries on April 1, 1718.
I even conversed via email with Ms Brady today. At first I thought she may have meant the new Moon 18 years 11 days preceding the 1st eclipse of this cycle, because that is how far 4/1/1718 is from April 11, 1736 but she said no, that not it. But she didn't address that date not being an eclipse so I'm still completely confused. She just said get her book and it'll explain the Saros cycle. I already understand the cycle. Many of the astronomers sites have full explaination along with the tables. They even explain how it originated with the Babylonians.
So...if anyone has read her book and understands why April 1, 1718 isn't being listed as an eclipse anywhere but with her, please tell me. This will drive me nuts until I know.

Jade! Great to read you are so happy! Me too! I just do not believe in eclipses being negative or dangerous. They might bring all kinds of unconscious energy to the surface, which always can be frightening, but seeing them as negative has a fatalistic ring to it I associate with stating something generalized like 'Saturn is a malefic' or 'Jupiter is a benefactor' which I personally do not relate to at all. I am very distrustful of putting things off because of the configurations in the sky, although even that might have its own synchronicity to it.
How do you feel about sending that employment info? Eager? Frightened?

Since the effects of an eclipse can be felt even up to three days before the event, perhaps it would be a perfect time to send in your employment information anytime now!! Good Luck!! Hugs- GemStar PS-My energies are feeling this eclipse as it nears....opposing my natal Saturn and square to my natal Sun....I am hoping to refocus my energies on myself and new directions. It will take some effort but I am feeling renewed and invigorated as compared to the past several weeks. Bring it on!!

Special thank you to all who are participating in this active thread!! The excitement is palpable and I think it is giving a lot of us great ideas and support for letting go and creating the new!! Great Job!! ;D ;D More to read!! There is a new Moon and solar eclipse of the Sun on Friday at 29' 20 Virgo/Pisces. Forward, we go! The week has oodles of planetary activity! Expect to shake your head and say, “Well, if THAT is the way it is going to be, so be it.” Pull out that AA statement of figuring out the stuff you can change, the stuff you can’t change and how to know the difference. Nope, nope, nope, you are NOT going to be able to change it, them or the situation. Sorry, but it’s time we human critters each get to decide if we want to change by our very own selves. Perhaps we don’t want to change! Or maybe we DO want to change but we haven’t decided WHEN to change. It is COMPLETELY our call as it is our life!!
HOWEVER, each one of US CAN change our expectations, approaches, beliefs, wisdom, perceptions and all those obvious limitations around the situation and people we face over the week ahead. You can understand how it is about BOTH you and the other! It is a dance for two ~ both sides have to do THEIR dance steps for the situation to continue in its current form. If you don’t like a particular situation, you need to modify something. You need to modify your response or behavior towards it. The other person might, OR might NOT, modify their “bad” behavior. You can shout and stamp your feet and have a hissy fit and decide not to talk to them unless and until they change. Go right ahead! When it all gets quieted down ~ in a week or three ~ know that the other person is doing what they are doing for a reason that serves them. You need to do what serves you.www.thecosmicpath.com/doc/weekly.htmlHugs- GemStar

Dear All, Huge response. Thank you so much. Given below is a link to Brady's work "The Saros Cycle - Eclipses come in Families" giving her insight to the development of hypothesis. www.bernadettebrady.com/Pdfs/SarosCycles.pdfI could not open the pdf version for some reason. So I tried HTML version (link given below) but this version is without tables and charts. 72.14.221.104/search?q=cache:TgtSsF1CevcJ:www.bernadettebrady.com/These days I am really lost for n number of reasons. Of late, I realized that I am not suitable for the kind of work in this office. I am desparately looking for a change of office, not getting mind to do any work etc. I tried for a transfer in the very begining of Sept ( not aware of lunar eclipse on 7th Sept - Don't initiate anything under the influnce of eclipse, react but dont' act: Susan Miller) but my request was turned down due to some entanglement somewhere in the administration. My son is sick for the last 4 months, suffering from fever, headache, cough and cold very often forcing him miss the classes. And now he broke his right little finger last week in a freak accident and thus may have to skip quarterly examinations. He is in class 12. This year being crucial paving path for his future, I am not at all comfortable with the developments. I am trying to shift the residence on getting government quarters. The list of priority (seniority) gets updated in the first week of every month. For the last 3 months, it is so happening that at the end of each month I am in the top 5 of the priority and pushed down the list too far in the first week of update. I have a strong feel that something is going to happen this month that change my life and take me in a different direction altogether. I don't know why I feel so. These flashes brought me back to astrology I am avoiding for quite sometime (to handle the pain out of Saturn-Chiron opposition) and I straightaway got the link to Brady's work on saros cycle. Earlier I tried a lot to get her book on predictive astrology - the eagle and the lark but failed since Indian version is not available. Nor I found web links giving insight to her work. All the above suggest the 3,9 axis in my natal horoscope is very active where I am facing transit Uranus from 9th opposing Moon(Asc lord) Psyche conjunct. I AM BEING INFORMED NOW. I AM GETTING BETTER AND HELPFUL INSIGHT INTO WHAT IAM AND WHAT TO DO NOW. Jupiter(lord of 6 ) in 3rd at a late 27.5 deg in Virgo almost on the mid point of Ven in 4th and Plu in 3rd. The 22nd Sept, 2006 solar eclipse EXACTLY fall on Aries point on my 4th cusp opposing the 10th worldly affairs. According to Brady this eclipse is a tough one with Uranus at the mid point of Mars Sat (they are almost conjunct) in the birth chart of the eclipse whose Uranus fell on my natal Sun in Sag. I find so many contacts to my natal chart influencing 3,4,9 and 10th houses. If this eclipse is about losses, separation and 'let' go off something, what is it I have to forgo ? Jupiter, lord of 6 in 3rd is touched with a orb of 2 deg. SIXTH - work, daily routine, health ? If that be the case, the eclipse signal had already touched me. I controlled smoking since middle of August out of health consciousness, work etc I discussed already. What is left with for the eclipse to influence and change ?? my desire to change the work place. Does it happen I am optimistic since my 4-10 axis is strongly touched. regards Kris PS: Juliet, do you believe Karmic theory. My experience says we cann't control everything in life and so I don't dislodge Brady's concept of good and bad eclipses. I know clients suffering from bad developments (withought their wilful involvement) and with no apparent cause in their horoscope. I prefer to examine this theory in totality for which I started developing new software.

Oh, Kris, I absolutely agree we do not control everything in our lives and that very sad and very very difficult things actually happen in any life. Death, illness, loss, war, poverty. These things also seem (in general) to be divided unequally amongst mankind and the globe, although the equilibrium changes constantly through history, and suffering of course has a different face in different societies.
Africa used to be a wealthy and rich continent before dynamite was invented.
I am very happy and grateful I was born in '57 in Northwestern Europe, in a unprecedented quiet chapter in its history, twelve years after the nightmare of WWII ended. I am also grateful I can drink water from my tap and do not have to get my water from a source ten miles from my home everyday. I am grateful I do not live in Dafur, or that up till now I have not needed to flee my home because some danger was approaching.
But did I 'deserve'/ 'create' that in a former life?? I don't know. I believe it's human to find 'reasons' for suffering, as if we could avoid it by living the right way. People all handle suffering differently. Some will be upset when they cannot find a parkingplace for their car and others are naturally resilient and basically happy through great loss and illness. Or be upset when they cannot find a parkingplace for their car and be naturally resilient and basically happy through great loss and illness.
I still believe an important eclipse can bring great loss for one, and a new relationship to the other. It can even happen all at the same time. In '76 my sister told me then while we had stood beside the grave of our dad, who had just died of cancer, she had also been jubilant about her new love... Or on 9/11 when there was incredible, incomprehendible suffering elsewhere and I found my current lovely home, a refuge from the danger I had been in.
Life is about AND AND, not OR OR, I believe, about energy. Not linear, but lateral. There is so much that will be eternally out of reach of human perception and comprehension. I find a great deal of comfort in that.
To answer your question: I don't know if I believe in karmic theory. I believe in the United Point Field/Zero Point Field theory, which says we are all united through an energy matrix/field, and where intention influences matter/energy. I believe strongly in synchronicity. I sincerely hope your son's health improves soon and that there will be a change for the better for you!
Keep my fingers crossed for you! Juliet

I am lagging a bit in keeping up with this dynamic thread, but jamma, before I finish reading everyone else's posts, I just had to take a moment and tell you how moved I was by your sharing of the string of powerful endings launched by the 1987 eclipse. You have been through quite a journey. I'm sure that this week's eclipse must mark the resolution of that long path. Perhaps you will have a sort of "welcome home and now it's time to rest" experience. Wishing you lots of love and peace, jam! samina

"The Universe is shaking me like a rag-doll to let go of my previous ideas of ME and my place in the world...in preparation for the path I know I need to find. "
Gem, that's so well-put. I can so relate to your words. My own natal 2nd-house Neptune was hit frequently this year by both Neptune & Saturn, and tr Jupiter is now sitting neatly on it while opposing my Jupiter. I've been navigating the "traditionally unemployed" state all year. Somehow, the Universe has seen me through to each "next point". The way I use my talents & resources to earn a living is really going through a huge shift, and hasn't yet settled into the new groove.
But you are so right about Grace and New Beginnings with this eclipse -- I feel that very powerfully! It also helps that Mars is finally on my ASC and giving me energy to launch a new cycle -- what a relief! LOL
Jamma -- your "keep on keepin on" parallel sent chills all across my scalp, literally! Gem, you definitely tuned into a very personal jamma-vibe when you wrote that!
Wishing everyone Grace & new beginnings galore! samina

Amoroso, I'm so glad that the long-wanted ending you had the courage to initiate in your 20-year association has worked out beautifully. I'm feeling the energy of this eclipse very powerfully, like a swell to an approaching peak, and perhaps that swell empowered you to give voice to say what you had to say, and now amidst the eclipse itself you get an inner feeling of closure & peace. As if you created a vacuum that the new eclipse is able to fill, now, with new energy taking you somewhere else. Really -- that was such a courageous thing to do. Severing relationships that no longer support one's path can be very, very difficult. But so empowering afterwards! I'm glad to hear something of your thoughts after the fact. And I love the name asteroid/Sappho synchronicity! I just do not believe in eclipses being negative or dangerous. They might bring all kinds of unconscious energy to the surface, which always can be frightening, but seeing them as negative has a fatalistic ring to it I completely agree with your statement, Juliet. Some scary things have come to the surface for me during this time, but they've all resolved easily, and they've helped me move forward, which is great -- certainly nothing I'd regard as negative, ultimately. I am very distrustful of putting things off because of the configurations in the sky, although even THAT might have its own synchronicity to it.LOL. Life is such a paradox, isn't it! sami

It would also give a different impression of this eclipse if you look at the true parent chart. I was looking at the true parent to this eclipse, Saros 144 begining April 11, 1736. I cast the chart for my location and rectified it to get the New Moon exact. I know, I've read thev "rule" you are to cast it for 0 degrees Aries rising and ignore houses. But I don't want to. I wanted to see what I could see. And guess what, I clearly see the dominant theme that has shown itself in my life during the 1988 repeat and the current. In this chart, the New Moon eclipse fell on the 3rd cusp opposing Pluto in the 9th. Pluto is the dispositor of my 1st son's Sun and this is his ascendant with Venus and Mars conjunct. He was about to turn 14 when the 1988 eclipse occured. That school year he took his first college course even though still primary school age. He received a grade for Biology 101 of over 100% and was on the Dean's list. He even topped his aunt who was working toward a teaching degree. He was sidetracked with military for 6 years but he just got his first job in his degreed field a month ago. Saturn in that parent chart is at 25 Taurus, trine the ascendant, slow but sure. Venus, ruling that 9th was exalted in Pisces conjunct Mercury just as his grades were exalted. Uranus, dispositing Mars, the eclipse ruler was sextile Pluto and trine eclipse. That doesn't sound too scary to me. There was an interception in 1/7, he also met his wife in school. She's from Malaysia, both foreigners and college are ruled by Venus here. Sun and Saturn rule the interception.
I think this shows there may be benefit in looking more closely at eclipse parent charts at a particular location. A preliminary look at another series shows the same potential.
