Hi Jamma, Glad to see you back! Interestingly enough, the elections are a billboard for Saturn too: Obama was elected with Saturn on his Mars at 22 deg Virgo! (my Mercury) Saturn is transiting my whole Virgo stellium in 8 and it's been an exceptional fruitful time for me! Everything I wanted is materializing= getting structure. I really have to be careful what I wish for these days...

Juliet, thank you for pointing that out! Saturn makes things 'real'--and yes, we get what we wish for. He's a walking, talking gene in a bottle! Kim

Hey everybody!
Saturn is finally leaving Virgo (hooray!) and entering Libra toward the end of this week. It crossed my mid-Heaven for the final time with minimal drama but it will still be in my 10th house for the next year+. As those of you who have read my posts over the last year or so know how much I have hated my job these past couple of years. I love teaching and I love interacting with people, but I detest the conditions under which I must operate. Add to that the fact that the school system I work for is under investigation for cheating on the standardized tests, and that makes decisions even more clear. I need a new job!
But the Mid-Heaven is about more than the job. It is career and it is also public image, right? It is your calling. It seems that my calling is about to get a little more refined. For years I have thought about the conditions under which we as women raise our children and operate in society. I have (as an African-American woman who teaches in predominantly low income urban schools) thought more about this dilemma as it pertains to African-American women and girls, as this is the population I come into contact with more than any other. So I am intimately aware of the effects of trying to be a Superwoman on this population. And we are doing such a poor job of trying to not go crazy, of not being overwhelmed by life, by poor choices, by serious self-esteem issues. And I am not saying that these are not issues that all women face. I'm just saying that I am more familiar with the population that doesn't get much help and needs it the most.
My decision was crystallized this afternoon as I sat in Firestone waiting to see what was wrong with my car. As I sat there, I read an article in the latest Essence magazine about child prostitution. The article is heartbreaking. I juxtaposed that with that of two young girls in one of my classes. One girl was brutally beaten by her mother's 23 year old live in boyfriend. The child is 13 or 14. She has grown siblings, and her mother works at night, all night long. The other young girl, also 13, has a 19 year old "step-father". Her mother is somewhere between 25-30, and leaves for her job as the manager of four different McDonald's restaurants at 4:00 am, leaving the 19 year old alone with her child for four hours everyday. He brings the child to school everyday. So who needs educating? Obviously all four, the mothers and the daughters.
Of course I have to figure out exactly how to approach them, and I think I know. Through a church run community garden and after school program, of course! I just have to find the church that would let me run an after school program out of it without necessarily being a member...
As Saturn moves into Libra and approaches a trine/sextile with my natal Mars in Gemini/Saturn in Sag opposition and opposes my natal Sun/Venus conjunction in Aries I feel confident that my vision will become more clear especially since this aspect will coincide with saturn moving into my 11th house of groups.
I really had no clue how Saturn through my 10th house would look, but I am so very happy that I am being moved to define, hone, and actualize my dream.

Pam this is great - your vision is clear to me already - sounds wonderful. Saturn through my 6th is already giving me benefits from making me clearer and smarter about how I do my job, and allowing me to recognise how well I do it. I'm certain that if we make an effort to use Saturn transits they do repay us. Keep us in touch with this!
