Hi Snap23, welcome to the forum. These are great questions about the vertex. Have you read my article on this point? It gives and overview and my approach to orbs and delineation: www.falconastrology.com/vertex.htmI keep orbs tight, usually within a degree or two BUT remember how quickly the Vertex moves (like the Ascendant). If the birth time is out by even a few minutes the degree will change. The idea is to get in touch with what the Vtx means and see if it is being activated. We have extensive post on this forum re Lilith and relationship--I think the two linked by synastry would be like a Lilith transit to your Vertex, all the time! Perhaps being around him gives you a feeling of awakening--the desire to change the things you tolerate or aren't happy with. You might be very sensitized to any 'issues' relevant to the house your Vertex occupies. Could get your hackles up and make you think! Kim This thread has more on Lilith and Vertex . . . erosastrology.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=syn&action=display&thread=375&page=2

Vertex in the 5th can feel like a fated romance--absolutely! Astrology is fascinating and loaded with insights but there is something in the meeting of two human souls that doesn't translate on paper. You can see how you are effected, you can gain insight into patterns from the past, you can plot changes, growth and paths to awareness, enlightenment . . . yet there are not always words or reasons for love. It just is. Kim

Hmmm. Okay. My Venus (28 libra) is square Vertex (28 cancer). Reading definitions of Cancer vertex I don't see that working. Seems like it must be read as Leo, that would work. But maybe its due to the square with Venus that alters its character. I mostly read the Venus in Scorpio with a little coloring from Libra. I may have to do the same with the Vertex.
What orbs do people use with aspects to the Vertex? Nobody I have been close to or who have been important at all in my life has any close aspect with the Vertex. I've compared 35 charts so far. Is this point only valid in transits and progressions? It seems to me that there should be some pretty close aspects to the Vertex from people who are important in your life. -Del

People can be important in different ways. The Vertex marks a very particular and pivotal expression. I think it works very strongly with synastry but these aren't often people we stay with for a long time (like parents, children, siblings etc). Sometimes they are only briefly in our lives and that's a good thing! They are catalyst for change, which a 'fated' relationship is like. Time and longevity aren't that important in this case. A vertex contact CAN exist in a lasting relationship but it can also indicate a fleeting one. It's the transformation that takes place that matters. It changes your life. I would say Vtx in 5th would have a strong Leo signature, especially if it was linked to the sun by midpoint, aspect, progression etc. Also, if you birth time is out by 8 minutes (common in hospital records) it is indeed Leo. This makes the orb question difficult. Too small an orb and there is no allowance for inexact times. At some point you have to intuit it. Does it feel like a connection? If so, then it is one!
