Kim, thanks for the explanation on progressed charts. I copied your response over to this thread b/c I think I sort of pulled the other thread off topic.
I posted my progressed & natal and the progressed on its own. (I like seeing all those planets line up in one house.
I see p.Sun conjuct n.Uranus and p.Moon trine n.Saturn. I'm not sure if any of the other p.Planets are close enough to n.Pluto to count. Thanks to all for any comments.
My question was: Do progressed charts offer any validity interpreted on their own?

This is a good question, Airedale, and I'm interested to hear what others feel. I've always been rather traditional on this topic in that the progressed chart is an extension of the natal chart and means little when taken out of context. Realize that secondary progressions, for example, the 'day for a year' technique, simple create a chart x number of days after birth to match your x numbers of years you are old. That chart IS somebody else's natal and only 'belongs to you' when it is seen in connection with your nativity.
Here's Alan Leo weighing in from the end of the 19th century:
A consideration that should be borne in mind very clearly is that all directions (all types of progressions) are conditioned by the state of the horoscope at birth. Note: here he is talking about a progressed planet to a natal planet or a progressed angle to a natal angle or planet. However, he also finds the progressed ascendant and MC important on their own, particularly by sign and decanate (and dwad). He goes on to say, Directions should be interpreted in terms of the positions of the planets in the horoscope of birth, except when both bodies that form the direction are progressed, or when the directions is to a progressed angle; the progressed horoscope should then be consulted. He gives an interesting example here. Thus the king of Greece's progressed Ascendant opposite Mars Rx obviously means that the ascendant has progressed until Mars is on the cusp of the 7th house, hence war.'
Obviously....
But the point is that last configuration was pure progression--no context with the natal, so clearly he gives progressed to prog houses weight WHEN an angle is involved.
I think it's significant to have a load of planets in the shadow of the progressed ascendant and I do watch the natal and P house position of progressed moon WHEN she makes an aspect to a natal planet. I would think that as your progressed inner planets make aspect to those 12th house progressed bodies they would have 'something to say'. Your chart's on my other computer and I can't check quickly now, but if these 12th house p. planets are outer, they would bound to get some activation by p. moon.
Pop up your natal and progressed if you want to use it as an example. That might be the easiest way to discuss this.
Juliet, thank you for the excellent synastry examples. In that case we take our progressions and place them in context to someone else's natal!
Kim
