Well thank you everybody!! My birthday has been lovely. My son started the day this morning by giving me a book on raising chickens, which is something I want to do and have wanted to do for over a year now. Then I took a couple of R's fellas down to a farm site and helped pick collard greens for the farm in the early morning country air. After that I rushed home, changed clothes and got pretty because The Wine Merchant was in town and took me (and my son) to lunch at P.F. Chang's where I had grilled scallops (yum) and tiramisu (yummier), along with the kind of charming and flirtatious banter I can only have with the Wine Merchant. Then I went to the farm for market day. R told me Happy Birthday several times, but did not give me a card or a gift and so I was in a snit when I left. After I got home I sent him a text, describing my disappointment. He called and told me that he doesn't do cards. He apologized for hurting my feelings, and told me of all the things that I do have from him that are better than a birthday card. So I also got a good reminder of how love and appreciation don't have to look a certain way, and if one insists on a certain format, one might miss what is given and/or what is available, and therefore miss a good opportunity to receive some love.
