Occultations and the disruptions they bring are fascinating. I do heed the warning not to launch projects, undertakings, enterprises of the occulted planet's nature in the run-up to the shadowing. It is best to wait five days or so following an occultation to act.
Not a good time to breach the cease fire, Israel. Nor to start a war, certainly. Wait until after the occultation to erect structural iron &/or steel or engage in construction of homes and buildings, general. Machining goes like sixty after the occultation, not before. Strenuous exertion and fitness campaigns should wait out the Mars event. Even hair cuts are better after the surge and benefit from the Mars boost after the fact. Police matters and battle skirmishes suffer during a Mars occultation. Violent attacks are astir.
Certainly, this occultation is emphasized by a following solar eclipse on January 26. Accompanied by Saturn opposite Venus-Uranus and shocking public events and unprecedented national spending, with occulted Mars in House 2 for the occasion at the capitol.
The powerful but wayward, ungovernable pre-occultation energy becomes focused and helpful post event. And Mercury will shortly be turning direct as well. Until then, I'll push the black strap molasses across the table for another day.

Hi Ana, I didn't know what it was either. Here's what I found out... Per www.astrologyweekly.com/dictionary/occultation.phpWhen a planet or star is hidden or eclipsed by another body, particularly by the Moon, there results what is termed an occultation. (Nicholas deVore - Encyclopedia of Astrology) Also, I found this link with lists of upcoming occultations for 2009. almanako.com/occultations.shtml -- fixed stars are at the top. Scroll down to the bottom to see planets. Occultation Predictions for the next 2 months: - Mars by the moon: January 25, 2009
- Jupiter by the moon: January 26, 2009
- Annular solar eclipse - January 26, 2009 (New Moon eclipse @ 6 AQU 30)
- Penumbral lunar eclipse - February 9, 2009 (Full Moon eclipse @ 21 AQU/LEO 00)
- Mercury by the moon: February 22, 2009
- Jupiter by the moon: February 23, 2009
