Hi Nige, I second Gemstars advice - you can help your twin through your active resolve to break and heal the pattern, and you can both benefit from the inner strength this choice will help you build. As devastating as it is to watch a loved one destroy themself, mirroring that destruction can make matters worse, IF that's what you're actually doing. Hey - it must be extremely hard to be 'the good one' or the 'sober one' in a polarised pair, and you know that alcohol is a dangerous thing to be in need of, but sometimes it takes more courage to stay with the problem and try to understand it. One of those paradoxes, isn't it - quitting something doesn't necessarily mean you're cured, or that it works the other way around. So please don't feel terrible or beat yourself up for having those beers. Your brother's highly volatile situation aside, it might help you to question your drinking. (and I do mean, in all seriousness - ask it what it wants!) I imagine that you've struggled to untangle a lot of psychic threads for a very long time - what/where is your power, who/what does this situation actually belong to? It must be hard to know, as a twin, what is your stuff and what is his - as well as dealing with all the other psychic debris we humans unconsciously pick up between birth and now. Having recovered from addiction myself I recognise that it takes on an energy of its own that needs to be 'handled' - as CG Jung said 'whatever we cannot own about ourself shows up in our life as Fate' and I really do believe addiction is Fate. It is certainly not part of you but finding that part of yourself that you've been unable to face, for whatever reason, will set on the path to freedom. Can you find some help with 'handling' - counselling, support group or therapy? There are lots of different types of holistic therapies which are very helpful for situations like yours. You will find the support you need is available... try something different. As far as astrology goes... where is your Neptune? (trivia break; did you know that AA took Jung's assertion that alcoholism is a spiritual problem and used it as the basis of their twelve step program? 'like cures like' - a spritual/soul remedy actually works) Neptune was the key to my understanding and overcoming addiction, I have it in Scorpio in the sixth house...I used meditation, visualisation, colour therapy, affirmation and lots of water.... rituals - going down to the sea and emptying all my fears into it, for eg. Its all up to you Nige peace, pm

oh Tom, congrats on your resolve and positive body-mind health program... sounds like some very Pluto-Venus regeneration-transformation going on.
How are you feeling?? Any healing crises?
I find that a detox often releases body/soul memory from storage and can mean a temporary state of feeling like, well, crap. Try eating sprouted seeds/legumes for added biogenic support? eg soak organic chick peas in spring water overnight, rinse and lay them out on a tray for a few hours - they germinate in less than 24 hours - and put these in your salad.
Tantric breathing class sounds amazing - what does it involve?
blessings, pm

thanks, pm!
healing crises? sort of - yesterday morning i started with flu-like symptoms. over the last few years when i've gotten them i've cycled through all in 4-5 hours and am done. but this is taking longer.
the breathing class involves various exercises done with spine straight, building and moving energy in the body. using locks and holding breath in and holding it out, and according to certain rhythms. the point is to build energy within the body, apparently. and balance things, energetically speaking. it's followed by yogi nidra, sleep of the yogis, which is a meditation during which intentions are set. it's quite a thing.
funny you should mention sprouted things - i was compelled a few weeks ago to buy spr. mung beans, and have been putting them on/in things i eat. and i already eat spr. bread, almost the only bread i eat.
i wonder what memory might be being brought up - i'm certainly open & interested. my desire is to move forward, and i know the past needs to be to some degree understood and integrated in order for that to happen.

tom, I'm reading a book at the moment called 'Journey into Consciousness, The Chakras, Tantra & Jungian Psycholology'... it gives very basic some Tantric meditations but states that the tantric teachings are passed on from teacher to student in 'secret' - it fascinates me and now has the added mystery of things-I-cannot-learn-from-a-book! Your description makes it sound like something I'd like to do.
I've always wanted to try that sprouted bread - essene bread? I am weaned off wheat but need to try something other than rye as it may develop into another food sensitivity... thinking of spelt bread.
sometimes a memory may release and you don't realise it - if you suddenly find yourself doing something you haven't done before or in a long time, or something is bugging you like crazy and you can't put your finger on why - there's your memory. A friend of mine recently did a radical detox and suddenly started acting very strangely - she started relating to others as if they were constantly rejecting her. I could see this was de-toxifying her psyche.... after a short while so could she!! (mostly because she wasn't receiving the expected response from most others)
at any rate, you are right, the past needs some degree of understanding and integration, but is often best let go... 'be here now' is my motto for 2006.
joy, pm

Primamateria Not only is Neptune associated with addiction but the sign Pisces and the 12th house in general are as well. Personal Planets found in the 12th house, including the Sun (ego) and the Lord of the Chart (ruler of the rising) for example, are particularly vulnerable to drowning in the vast Piscean sea of the personal and collective unconscious. However, those that are able to remain grounded on earth while tapping into the vast primordial realm that connects us, without being overwhelmed, are able to bring back gifts to benefit the self and all of humanity. Edgar Cayce was one such individual, able to tap into and survive the abyss; well known as a great psychic healer as well as an intuitive astrologist. Here's an excerpt I found on a web site discussing the 12th house. AllegoricalLogic "12th House - Associated with Pisces this house is the last house above the horizon, and rules our culture's unconscious, all that society has forgotten, exiled or suppressed. In this house we see those who are not mainstream, and who have followed the myth of exile. This house will feature people who have taken a deep journey and discovered jewels at the bottom of the sea of collective unconscious, only to bring them back and share them with a community. The temptation is there not to return, and this house will look at how to restore our memory into something essential. It is the house of widows, orphans, and secret enemies. It is also the house of institutions, escapism, subversion, subconscious, and all that is hidden. In this house we see our leftovers from the past, and have to deal with frustration and limitation. We can see our attitude towards service and suffering. This is the house of charity and the house of karma, and our relationship with the other world of spirit. It reveals any hidden life of crime, misfortune, trouble, losses, our most difficult tasks and things we need to work out for ourselves. It is linked to hospitals, prisons, any place of seclusion or escape, and anything dealing with our unconscious, or root of psychological problems. This house shows how we deal with difficulties in a proper way: by sacrifice, reflection, doing good work, or strengthening character. " www.chartplanet.com/html/astrology_tutorial.html

My twins neptune is in his 4th house and his IC is 14.10 deg. His sun-conj-mercury is in 12th house - but only 3 deg from his ASC. He definitely has more 12th house personality than me and the description of the 12th house is accurate for him with time spent in hospitals and mental hospitals! Also my neptune is my decendant ruling planet and the description of 3rd house neptune is spot on for me! I will definitely try again to quit the drink soon nige

Hi Nige, just a quick note - I checked the sabian symbols... a bit of help might come in the form of your mars... the symbol for the 28th degree of Libra is 'a man in deep gloom, unnoticed, Angels come to his aid' (for both of you) and for Neptune, 18th degree of Scorpio - 'a path through woods rich in autumn coloring' "The light of which transfigures the soul after passions have faded away. Revelation of inner wealth. Radiant consummation" with Neptune in Scorpio you need to go deep into yourself to the source of your need.... what do you think it might be?? what is your feeling about your Neptune in 3 and your brother's in 4?? Can you see a distinction? take care of yourself! pm

hi all, i posted the other day about this eclipse being in my 6th & near my dsc/opposite venus-asc, and now i'm posting my chart in case there are pearls of wisdom floating around out there anyone might share. the major eclipse aspects: -conjunct aries dsc/chiron -opposing asc-venus-pallas-pluto in libra/12th -square jupiter in capricorn/3rd -trine neptune-mercury-moon in sagittarius/2nd-3rd the health stuff was really obvious, but perhaps mainly from the lunar eclipse mid-march? what's been happening is relationship/self stuff - sudden turns on dimes...small things in relationships seem to show me large things about what i'm doing or think i'm doing in my relationships. the question of what i want in any of them has emerged and is looming, and a main thing for me seems to be to get inside that myself (mars-uranus in libra/1st square the nodes is important for me to reevaluate now, i know - also the aries-libra axis as selfdefinition or definition by others - a constant theme for me), and i'm open to any and all thoughts about this eclipse so close in opposition to that libra stellium. i appreciate anything you might offer - i'm a little stunned right now from feeling a lot of tiny-seeming but enormous-feeling veils ripped away - i've been asking myself, 'how many more are there?'

wow, tom -- i can understand why you'd be experiencing so much activity in your inner life right now. that eclipse zinged you with a lot of energy! i put your chart into my astro.com database so i could get a visual of the transits, and i see that mars was on your 9th-house saturn at the time of the eclipse -- how did you experience that? were you perhaps studying intensely at the time, or teaching? did you cross paths with someone who enabled you to express your beliefs more clearly? saturn is so prominent in your chart, and shoots so much energy over to your ascendant/uranus/mars, i'd think that that particular transit would someone have engaged you with others quite directly. it certainly stands out to me how the eclipse energy is highlighting your urge for relationship. it hit your prominently placed chart ruler, but also, with the eclipse on your aries dsc, ruled by mars, which is *also* so prominent in your chart, i get a polarized energy between your very intense venus/pluto conjunction and your more detached freedom-loving mars/uranus. has anything you've been processing of late had to do with that paradox in your nature? also, with the eclipse hitting your pluto, i'd imagine that you felt things in your vitality -- perhaps a psychic release & physical renewal of sorts? pluto rules your very physical 2nd house, after all, where you're sun resides. chiron involved the eclipse reminds me of that venus/pluto & mars/uranus paradox, again... healing in that area? you've got mars exactly trine eros & amor this weekend, and eros opposing venus. the fun after the storm? the eclipse hit my own chart just on the other side of the dsc -- i have libra ascendant at 6Lib31. i can relate very much to your statement "i'm a little stunned right now from feeling a lot of tiny-seeming but enormous-feeling veils ripped away"... lots of that going on, for sure. curious to hear more about your insights! samina

hi samina - thanks for the reply. your enumeration of these aspects helps my brain sort some things better.
re mars on saturn: i have been learning a lot between a few different avenues. a new class, and some new material on yoga, and then some on the karma of relationships as seen in composites. the teacher of the new class and i agreed to do an astrology trade to learn how the other works.
re pluto: my radar is overloading. that pluto-venus sextile neptune-mercury-moon is highly susceptible to sensitivity to others, and it's going haywire now. i'm able to keep the stuff i'm experiencing generally in public in check, but i can feel a lot of negativity from someone in my life toward me right now (who doesn't want to talk with me), and i'm not sure how to let it go or file it - when i have a certain kind of connection with someone i can feel what's happening no matter where we are. and wow, is she mad. also, have been getting suddenly exhausted with no warning. but i've been running and lifting weights, so i have energy when i want it, but then at seemingly random times i need to shut down. my eyes need to shut more often, my brain just gets full of data (sight etc) and i have to stop it. also, sensitivity to light is at an all-time high now - not just all senses as at some other times, but just sight. also...paranoia. maybe not clinical/something to worry about, but mind patterns looping so i feel loopy. i just got some feedback from a friend that helped me see how to back away from this. such high energy in me this week!
this relationship stuff is coming to a head - do i want one or not? i'm feeling overloaded with this. i'm clear that i haven't done so much mars-uranus wtih myself, and i'm understanding as i type this that i don't yet know how not to be extreme about it (in libra, square the nodes), so i either go off on my own or am quietly in relationship, trying to figure out how to be in one.
fun after the storm this weekend? i'm open! i could use it.
oh, and i'm having my chart done at an astrology discussion group i go to in LA, on sunday. it seems a good time to open up to diverse perspectives - most of the people who attend work very differently from me, which is good.
thanks again for your comments! they really have helped me clarify.

Hi Forum,
Do you find eclipses to midpoints to be relevant?

Hi Kelly, I think there's a thread here on midpoints and eclipses.. and I do recall a few of us here mentioning our midpoints aspected by this eclipse. I'd never thought about it before, but since you mentioned it, looked up my midpoints and discovered that this last eclipse was right on both my North NOde/Eros midpoint and Psyche/Ascendant midpoint, as well as conjunt Venus. To tell the truth though, nothing even remotely erotic or interesting has manifested so far pm
