Just thought I'd put this up!
Looking at my progressed chart today, I notice:
prog Sun - 18.04 Leo (natal 4th) prog Moon - 18.13 Sagittarius (natal 7th)
with natal Moon at 18.35 Aries (12th house) I have a perfect grand fire trine. It won't last long as prog Moon will move away, but for now I thought it well worth noting! Natal Sun and Moon are 75 degrees apart so I'm not what aspect that makes, apart from a wide quintile - so I'm equally not sure of the significance, if any, of the progressed trine. Maybe nothing. But it's very pretty! If anyone knows of any symbolism around the number 18, do please let me know!
It seems to be signifying to me a gradual shift towards a more open creativity, more bravery about expressing what's in my heart, and in general a more harmonious relationship between how I express myself, and my instincts.

hey Ariesmoon that looks like an exiting progression... I don't know about the symbolism so much but it did come to mind that the nodes are also 18 degrees right now... what you've written about open creativity and bravery and expressing your heart's desires rings true about what a grand fire trine would bring... fire away! pm

I love the progressed Sun/Moon contacts! They are golden, especially the fire trine in yours, Ariesmoon. Here is what the elder sage, Alan Leo, said about this contact--how cool is his early 1900's language? I know he was very old school and 'black vs. white' but there is still wisdom in his text! He said: P. Moon trine P. Sun The native will now enter upon a period of success, bringing the satisfactory realization of many ambitions, hopes and wishes...It brings opportunities to improve the general conditions and surroundings of the houses involved, and it is a good time to invest, speculate or enter upon a fresh undertaking. The feelings and emotions bring joy and pleasure, and new friendships are formed. ...a good time for health and enjoyment of life--the native need be alert to extract all they can from the opportunities! Alan Leo 1905 I think you and Leo are seeing it the same way! This is a 3 month deal---active as the moon goes from 17 to 19 Sag. (about 1 degree a month) You are right in the midst of it! Kim

Hi Prima and Kim, thanks very much for these posts, just got back on line after a week without the computer so I'm still catching up. Hadn't connected that the Nodes are at 18 Leo and Aquarius, so thanks for that!
I'm assuming Alan Leo is referring to the natal houses where the progressed planets fall - in which case it's 4th (prog Sun) and 7th (prog Moon) so that's great - on a practical 4th house level I'm having some decorating done! and on a more emotional 4th house level, friendships in the family seem to be deepening, and distant family members I haven't had contact with for years are turning out to be great friends. There's also a fantastic new friendship - well, a revived one, from 30 years ago, with someone who found me through a schoolfriends' website. We've hit it off instantly, through email and letters - and are going through similar relationship stuff (7th) at the same time. She has her Moon in Sag, too!

Hi Ariesmoon,
Decorating sounds perfect and I love that when we discover new friends when least suspecting!
While on the topic of Alan Leo, here are more thoughts on the progressed moon through the houses:
"..the passage of the moon through the various houses of the horoscope must not be expected to produce events of like importance in all cases. Much will depend on the prominence of the sign corresponding to the house in question in the nativity."
What he means is, if you have a lot of planets in Libra, or strong Venus aspect and/or transits, the movement of P. Moon through the 7th is going to bring MORE activity. It's like a double whammy, as Stephen Arroyo calls it. Make sense? If you had a stellium in Leo and the Sun strongly aspected or transited, P. Moon through the 5th house would be on fire!
It would be very interesting to watch the decanates and dwads as the P. Moon in Sagittarius transits your 7th. You can watch for activation of the subtle rulership shifts. I think we have a Dwad thread for reference. Also on my 'Are you Compatible' article on my site there is a section on this topic.
Keep us posted!

Thanks Kim, will definitely look into the decanates and dwads, not something I have done before but I'm finding that a love of detail that I've always had is becoming much more discerning (Saturn in Virgo through 5th - just about to post about that on another thread). So I'll enjoy looking into that.
The point about progressed moon in the 7th makes perfect sense now thank you! With these very strong hits to Venus from the eclipses, I'm sure to notice something - already am, I think, but need to put it properly into words first. I will report back!

I've realised what the symbolism is of the number 18, having just followed the latest links on the Saros eclipse series .. eclipses run in 18-year cycles, as does the movement of the Moon's nodes. I knew there was something!
