Hi... I asked this question because I'm wracked with indecision now about my solar return chart and whether or not I should take off for a couple of days to get a better year! So I keep asking myself if I am ready for a big change or whether I want to spend yet another year lurking in the background and getting nowhere. (I will post the alternative chart in the returns section with my 'at home sr chart'). I asked 'should I stay here for my birthday, or go to sydney and change my chart?' well the chart is only just fit to read with the asc at 3'02 Cancer... I am the moon and conj the descendant in early capricorn... last over Pluto, I guess that reflects this urge towards changing everything (to tell the truth I don't feel like I am supposed to have another year in the background!) I took 3rd as short distant travel - its ruler Mercury is in 9 - conjunct the North NOde! (and my natal chiron) The Moon is applying square to mercury so the answer is YES. I should.... now how will I do it?? Taking Kim's cue to look to the second cusp for where to begin - finding Leo there I am beginning to see the light.. I'll update later, but if anyone can spot a flaw in my reading of this chart please holler! blessings, pm

Prima,
I have to agree with ScorpyMoon. Going to Sydney for your birthday won't change your Solar Return chart for the year. I always do them for the birth place anyway regardless of where you are now (like progressions) ...so I don't think that is the proactive step you are after. Unless you plan to just have a ball in Sydney with fun and friends...in which case go for it...but not to alter you SR!
What's so grim about your new SR? Where is it posted??? In the return thread? Why do you think it limits you to the background? Let's talk about this!
Meanwhile, this chart indicates that you will be moving. The ruler moon in the 7th indicates 'removing' where in the first it's about 'staying'. Where you find the ruler of the 1st is where you find the direction to take to improve your health and position. (wellbeing).
The sun, ruler of 2nd in the 10th suggests financial betterment through career in the South...what's south of where you are? Venus, ruler of the 10th and Fortuna (better $) is in the 8th, suggesting betterment W-s-W and Ascendant ruler says go West! Yiks, is that Perth?
I know you didn't ask, ‘where would I be better off’, but this is the indication. Perhaps even using this in terms of the feng shui of your home might be helpful!
That Moon square Mercury doesn’t ring so much as a 'yes' to me...unless you just want a fun weekend...but there seems a major challenge to making it happen.
Let's look at that return!
Juliet, what do you see here???
More soon, Kim

Hi Scorpy and Kim thanks for looking at the chart... well it looks like I'm going, after a quick chat with my Dad, who offered to buy me a return ticket, and a friend who has welcomed me to stay in her home... actually I feel really good about the decision! Kim you asked 'what's south'.... I think Antartica lol. And yes west of here is Perth and then Capetown... which according to the Astro Click thingy on Astro.com is a no-go zone for me (thanks for pointing that out to me, I looked all over the world and discovered that New York is a great place for me to find a partner, Los Angeles will make me depressed and that I could have a great career if I lived in Alice Springs - which my mum laughed about as she has been trying to get me to move there for two years!)... Sydney is apparently quite harmonious - a 'chiron and ascendant' line which should bring in some interesting events. I'll put the new SR chart up in a tick... I had it up there, then took it down due to thinking it was silly to try and avoid a year which looked lonely and unproductive! I suppose the twelth house sun in the 'Adelaide' chart and the taurus asc, plus those interceptions and double-duty signs made me feel limited in self expression and somewhat 'hidden'. I do really want to be more out in the world! Plus, hmm this is hard to admit, but I rather like having a Gem asc - I'm watching my figure lol. No seriously - something about the 'Sydney' SR gave me the impression that I'd be more myself - plus with Uranus on the MC and Venus and the nodes in the tenth, I feel like this is 'me'. The angles are my natal angles too. Kim your suggestion of changing home for better feng shui is excellent... last year my mother swept through and changed everything so that I would attract a 'family patriarch' (thinking I'd get a husband) - but instead not only did my father come back into my life but I had a whole bunch of older guys wanting to tell me how to runthings! Oh well! over to the returns thread to post the Sydney SR chart. pm

ps. it might turn out to be a bit silly to try and alter an SR - thats OK - I do intend to just go and have fun with my friend, an ex -collegue and someone who has always been really helpful to my career. It may turn out that I do go over to Sydney a fair amount if a certain career 'wish' of mine comes to fruition. pm

PM,
That's great news about your Dad's gift. I think the birthday in Sydney will be lovely and if you want to use that SR return chart, go for it! It may represent some strong intentions which I support it totally.
Why on earth would your Mom want a 'patriarch' in your house? Isn't 3000 years of them quite enough?
I made some notes about your SR...Is Adelaide your birth place? I'd like to see the return for your home town.
Anyway, Taurus rising years can be very sexy and either way that Gem Moon rising is going to be a social butterfly, so I'd not pre-judge!
We'll be thinking of you partying in Syd!!!

dear Kim, thanks! yeah mum was reading a traditionaly chinese feng shui book that used the word 'patriarch' a lot, to mean 'man of the house'... yes 3000 years of oppressive patriarchy is enough! thanks for looking at the SR too, yes Adelaide is my birthplace... the SR chart for this is the first one under the thread 'sr for may 1st'. I really am looking forward to going - I haven't been anywhere in three years, which is one of the reasons I'd really like a better SR year, even if changing location doesn't really 'work'. blessings,,pm
