Hello Everyone, Some of you may have seen that I am in the process of completely re-working my Web-site. www.nrg.com.au/~d-falcon/Eros.htmIt is expanding into an Asteroid- Astrology- Mythology- Psychology- Cosmology’ News Reel and one of my ‘features’ this week is the theme of the transiting Fixed Grand Cross and the health of the body. I want to use this thread for discussions/ experiences for anyone interested. The key to this transit is ‘the Uninvited Guest’. Here are some ‘starting points’. Thanks to Walt Disney, just about everyone knows the fairytale of Sleeping Beauty. Although Hollywood’s take is romantic, the action of the tale, the event that really gets things started, comes from the curse of the uninvited fairy. This enchantress, displeased at being ignored, causes Beauty to fall asleep. What an interesting metaphor! The planets orbiting in our solar system are metaphors as well, symbolic of energy within us, wanting to express. Honor them, and life becomes more vital and authentic. Ignore them, and—like the uninvited fairy—they can manifest in damaging ways. Consider the Fixed Grand Cross:Starting with Mars, Mars represents power. It’s what gets us out of bed in the morning and keeps us bright, alert and animated through the day. Not just a god of war and anger, at its best, this deity represents our sense of healthy aggression. Too little Mars energy, and we become door mats—victims of other peoples’ domination; too much, and we take on bombastic, overbearing attitudes ourselves. Mars also represents physicality. Linking to the muscular system, blood, iron and adrenaline, the Red Planet reminds us of our need to move the body! Exercise is one of the best ways to cope with stress. Every day we are confronted with stressful situations that cause the body to release adrenaline. This helps us to fight or flee, both actions belonging to Mars. Unfortunately, modern lifestyles often preclude either fighting or fleeing and the adrenaline isn’t burned off. The result weakens the immune system, creating even more stress! Besides compromising immunity and linking to fights and arguments, symptoms of an unacknowledged Mars can include iron deficiency, fevers, headaches, skin rashes, muscular aches, cuts and bruises. Although these can be treated empirically, acknowledging our inner Mars may produce more holistic results. Questions • Do you make clear and decisive choices? What would enhance this ability? • Is your sense of healthy aggression balanced—not taking power from others or give it away too willingly? • Is there a form of exercise you feel enthusiastic about? Can you implement it into your routine? (Check with your health professional before starting exercise programs, especially if you are under medical supervision.) Now, before we go on to Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune….does anyone want to comment on Mars? Kim

Dear Kim, What a great idea! ... Thanks so much for starting this discussion ... I never would have put Mars together with the Sleeping Beauty story, but it makes perfect sense ... if we don't allow the Life-Force god into our lives, it's pretty hard to be beautiful! ... And I'm very guilty of snubbing him (Dear Mars, So sorry -- your invitation to the party must have gotten lost in the mail) ... Seriously, if honoring Mars can help me "get the lead out," I'll be happy to give it a try ... but after spending my whole life living in my head (well, gee, Mars should get some consolation from that!), my body is pretty funky looking ... and breaking out of the sedentary habit sounds not only scary but painful ... My natal tropical Mars is 21 Aquarius in the 2nd, Draco Mars is 14 Sag ... and progressed Mars is at 8 Aries in the 1st, conjunct Mercury ... Re your Questions: • Do you make clear and decisive choices? What would enhance this ability? No, the only time I'm sure of something is if I get a clear intuitive green light, and waiting for "the signal to change" is often frustrating ... and if I go ahead and make a quick decision that doesn't turn out right, I kick myself around the block for not being more psychically attuned ... • Is your sense of healthy aggression balanced—not taking power from others or give it away too willingly? It's normal for me to think of the other person as "the all-powerful Oz," although I think I'm getting better about seeing the man behind the curtain ... • Is there a form of exercise you feel enthusiastic about? Can you implement it into your routine? Ha! ... I've never felt enthusiastic about any form of exercise -- in fact, if it's called "exercise" I run in the opposite direction (or more likely walk, since running is too much like exercise!) ... But I love to dance (at home without an audience -- Terpsichore at 0 Taurus in the 4th) ... Swimming (or just playing in water) is lots of fun, but only in private (wish I had a pool) ... SEX, however, is by far my favorite "workout" ... and, strangely enough, this one I prefer NOT to do alone ... ... Now I'm going to go check out your redecorated website ... Cheers, Jam

Hi Kim, wow, what a transformation - congratulations! Its nice to finally be able to put a face to your name too - and you are so beautiful. Is that tatoo on your arm an Egyptian Goddess? About Mars... Perhaps the uninivited guest from Beauty and the Beast is relevant here too - the young prince is turned into the beast because he spurned the crone at his door, and is left with only an enchanted rose to give him hope. (the rose being a symbol of matter, the immanent paradox between that which is transient and that which is eternal). Mars is a sometimes a bit like that - a beautiful beast. I guess Mars transiting my 11th house taurus sun has given me reason to think about this quite a bit over the past four months or so. (also just realised that transiting Mars is currently inconjunct my natal Mars at 16 sag) I really do believe that what we do not fully own will completely possess us - and the power principle is a case in point. NOt a guest I want to ignore. The energetic center of power in the body is the solar plexus chakra, just under the ribcage in the region of the stomach. I've always suffered in this region - stomach aches and low digestive juices which led me to having food allergies and other problems further along the digestive tract. Metaphorically and literally I had 'no stomach' for using my own discernment or for sticking up for myself. Developing my personal power has helped with this. *one of the images that goes with this chakra is that of the warrior archetype, paired with its shadow, the servant* Sometimes we are inspired to be in service of life and other times we are just enslaved. developing strength here started with body work - including exersize such as vigorous hill climbing/bush walking and abdominal strengthening. The ab muscles of course support the spine, strengthening these has the added benefits of straightening the posture and that in itself helps one to feel more powerful and less 'spineless'. I think I wrote about this on another thread here, but I learned last year about Mars/Aries original role as an agricultural deity. Just envisaging the outward and upward thrusting energy of emerging springtime life helps to make sense of this. So gardening has become somewhat of a Mars-honouring activity for me, including growing culinary/therapeutic herbs which are attributed with Mars qualities. For anyone interested theres an online copy of Culpeper's here www.med.yale.edu/library/historical/culpeper/culpeper.htmwhich gives the planetary correspondences for herbs - no alchemist would be without it But I guess I still think of Mars as being somewhat of a protector, as well as being a force for creativity. I think of the Emperor Trump from the Tarot - which teaches the need for boundaries, as well as detachment in able to see clearly and make good decisions. Like making an energetic 'fortress' from behind which one can rule wisely. Its also said that without a strong solar plexus/power center one cannot fully experience the heart - in other words love is supported by personal power, or intentionality. There's reason enough to open the door to Mars! Joy, primamateria ps scorpymoon, what is happening with mercury and Neptune for you right now? Skin disorders are usually attributed to Mercury in alchemy, or sometimes Neptune.

Kim, your new website format is gorgeous! Very clean, easy to read, and with the neutral grays, the color photos you've posted really pop out. Great photo of you, too! Interesting timing, this thread on Mars -- I've been reflecting about Mars' impact over the last couple days because it's conjunct my 8th-house Jupiter, giving me a lot of up-and-go and the desire to *move my muscles* with intensity, so I've been out running & sprinting in addition to my usual dancing & yoga. I've also been working on establishing a new direction in my career, *and* coordinating my next professional project (to pay the bills in the short-term). However, because my natal Jupiter opposes my Neptune, Mars is *also* opposing Neptune. I've been sleeping in very uncharacteristically late the last few mornings, and find that the tasks I'm working on to further my interests do not move linearly forward -- they drift circuitously, meander a bit more, and then come together with their own sense of intelligence. Yesterday it really hit me that Mars & Jupiter in my life are set up to operate more intuitively when it comes to manifesting my desires & things I value, with a sense of *magic* rather than with direct linear action. Neptune in the mix seems to obstruct direct linear action... but when I connect with, trust, and allow guidance from beyond my conscious aims to pull things together, life works much better. So right now, with transiting Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune vibing so intensely with my natal Neptune, I'm letting Mars have its action as much as feels comfortable, and am also allowing Neptune to drift mysteriously into the mix as feels right. Allowing both seems to enable me feel happy, safe, energized (because I'm not resisting) and emotionally as well as physically healthy. "Its also said that without a strong solar plexus/power center one cannot fully experience the heart - in other words love is supported by personal power, or intentionality. There's reason enough to open the door to Mars!"Well-said, prima! I have found this to be very true in my life, and continue to work on strengthening my naval center as I open my heart. Great thread... looking forward to more! samina

Wow, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in this topic!
Thanks, everyone, for the comments on my do-graded site--11 more sub pages to go (and Jamma, at least one of them will remain 'dark and mysterious'!
On my left arm is Ubasti's Temple-Cat, so yes, the Egyptian goddess, Bast. Scorpymoon, which Celtic animals?
Now on to the next 'leg' of this grand-cross--Jupiter.
Jupiter, is the symbol of expansion, the planet termed the greater benefic by the ancient astrologers. Without value judgment, we can say that this planet expands or horizons, both inner and outer. Jupiter is about enlargement, growth, promotion, possibility, success, fulfillment, popularity and enthusiasm. It is about meaning and purpose, creativity and optimism.
Jupiter (think of both Sagittarius and Pisces) represents an innate urge to break new ground, discover lost knowledge and cultures, and ponder the meanings of life in the future. This can be accomplished in creative ways, through education, research, travel, adventure, occult and spiritual studies, and even through games and sports where the physical body links with the vision of the mind and barriers are broken, goals reached.
Jupiter says I perceive, and we must fill in all the blanks:
I perceive what?
Jupiter is concerned with discovery, breakthrough and adventure. It is the symbol of our ability to perceive the unknown, explore distant vistas and live life to the fullest measure of possibility. If a group of like minded others are around to share this with, all the better.
If Jupiter is unexpressed, existential angst creeps (or floods) in! Where there is no meaning, there is little will to live. (Time and again history shows us that those who survive atrocities are singled out from those who do not because they experience a sense of meaning.
Questions:
Are you able to set goals, be open and enthusiastic and venture forth with optimism in the area of life described by the house Jupiter occupies (or rules).
Do you express the needs, wants and desires of your Jupiter sign with freshness and free spirit?
In relationship, do the Jupiters connect? The old saying is, “Never marry outside of your religion” and what they were on about here is “Make sure the Jupiters match.” If you don’t share meaning, it will be difficult the share the life.
Remember, Mars HEATS UP everything he touches! Where is the Mars Jupiter opposition in your chart now?

Hi... I just wrote a great long post about Jupiter and lost it when my laptop crashed. Ugh.
Scorpymoon, Hi! ;D Mercury is implicated in a rash for several reasons... you are of course right about Saturn ruling skin and Mars inflammation...its said that Mercury is the one that traverses the realms.. he is also the puer spirit, both pneumatic and chthonic (Saturn is implicated as the Senex of the Senex/Puer syzygy - but I won't complicate things with that now). Mercury is also the guide of souls, and the skin, the surface of our 'matter' (mater, mother, mer, sea), carries the soul's message via rashes (think of other meanings of the word 'rash' - 'quick' and 'hasty') and boils (hot and bubbling up from our underworld or - another eg - from spirit flying too close to the sun like Icarus - wings and melted wax etc).. So it is not so much that Mercury is the cause - just that Mercury is the messenger and can help find the remedy. Is that too abstract an explanation? I should probably not have used the word 'attributed' but I am aware that a Mercury remedy or a Neptune remedy ( eg zinc) can be helpful.
back soon with Jupiter... don't want to lose this too.

Jupiter is transiting my fifth, but is now close to the sixth cusp so health is coming to the fore. I had to go back over my journals and really think about what this transit really means and have discovered a couple of interesting things. first, since Jupiter entered Scorpio I've been practicing 'Notitia' - noticing things, with the heart - the heart as the eye... this was a conscious decision brought about through my 'Drawing the Human Figure' class at Uni. I've always been really quite hard on my body, and worked on 'perfecting' it, and never really saw bodies as being beautiful unless they fit the ideal. Learning to look at the human body with compassionate eyes, letting go of (dissolving) the ideal, has meant that I now see all bodies as perfect. I've also been willing to take lots of risks in terms of my creativity. ...the second theme going through my journals is the recurrance of the phrase 'Scorpio Childhood Sweetheart' (you've probably seen this in an horary question or two ) ... and my accompanying cravings for sugary, milky foods like caramel icecream, raspberry chocolate, and Vanilla Lattes, all the things I wasn't allowed to have as a child, and haven't allowed myself as an adult. Ha! my Childhood Sweet Heart. I crave sweetness... but I need to go deeper into the heart to find it. How hard my 'arteries' have been is apparent now... Hmm. more pondering required... Kim your comment about not marrying outside of your religion in relation to Jupiter really resonated with me... I married way outside of mine... what a disaster! My ex husband and I very rarely interpreted things in the same way. Peace, pm ps Scorpymoon, glad to help - what is your path by the way?

Oh, wonderful thread, and Kim, you're ever re-inventing yourself and your site, it is wonderful! I'd totally missed this thread, caught up as I am in redecorating, moving my furniture, making a synopsis of a book I'm planning to write on love sickness; having put the first steps in getting back to illustrating, my first creative love, after thirty years; meeting my friends... Basically reconnecting with my passion! All revved up by getting back to fitness in earnest, three times a week. Also a constructive way to direct my fiery agression, with which I'm in touch quite well... ;D!
Need I say more? Natal Mars at 16 deg Virgo, MC at 16 deg Sco, NN at 13 deg Sco.
Love to you all, Juliet

Hi Jade... lol the boil on the backside is a royal pain indeed - can't sit down for a start! I can relate to the immobilisation during emotional times - but I think this is my Moon (opp Saturn?), I recently learned that the Mother archetype's shadow 'the Witch' (which coincidentally my mother is, and believe me she is not a wise woman), like Medusa, tends to turn one to stone. I tested this over Christmas while my mother was around. Yep. I am a statue. pm

Speaking of STONES, on to the Saturn Leg of this Grand Cross--
Saturn is known as the task master, symbolizing a part of us bent on overcoming fears and becoming everything we can possibly be. It’s hard work! Saturn goads, pushes and prods us towards individuality, encouraging choices that authentically reflect who we are NOW.
As individuals, we need to be responsible for our own feelings and actions, allowing others to take responsibility for theirs. Now that Saturn is in the Sing of the SUN, conflicting urges arise. (The brighter the light, the darker the shadow!)
Saturn asks that we examine our most vulnerable relationships. Are they manipulative, co-dependant unions, or healthy, supportive ones? Are we reaching towards our aims and objectives, or trapped in a fearful holding pattern? We need balance in these key areas of life and if things get lopsided it can affect the physical and emotional body.
Saturn rules the bones, joints, skin, hair and skeletal system. Fractures, dislocations, arthritis, osteoporosis, dental problems, eczema, rashes, falls, bruises or emotional depression can hint at a lack of balance between autonomy and healthy emotional bonds.
Questions to ask:
• Do you focus on personal ambitions and loving relationships equally, or is one out of proportion to the other? Which one? How can you change that?
• Is your sense of security based on a confidence in who you are, or dependent on the voice and projections of others?
• Do you perform tasks to avoid relating?
• Do you form dramatic relationships to avoid your vocation?
An activated Saturn can also pop up as an experience of the SHADOW. This is our unconscious side that we are not comfortable with. Often, it is what we can’t see in ourselves yet detest in others! How can we know when the shadow is in play?
Consider what kind of groups, organizations or individuals you find abhorrent. What really gets your “back up” or gets “under your skin”? A strong emotional reaction to others can mean the shadow has been touched off. Realizing this can lead to new self-understanding and genuine tolerance.
Honoring Saturn takes effort. Only equal development of individual distinction as well as meaningful relationship will meet the challenge of this retrograde period. Consider today how you can bring this balance to life!

Also Kim, What is the Sing of The Sun?.... It seems like a typo that only I could read and miss.. SIGN of the Sun, Leo, and Sun being in Saturn's sign Capricorn, but also entering Aquarius soon co-ruled by Saturn... Thank you Kim for the wonderful ideas in the transiting Grand Cross theme.. As you know I've been up and down when Jupter was added last year to natal T-Square of Pluto/Uranus/Pallas Athena and friends in Virgo to Mercury in Gemini and finally Medusa in Piscies (with that transiting Pluto coming back around to exact opposition things have been upside down for a while now.. and hard to ballance properly. This week was the first week of my son's learning to go to school school, and on Friday, he spent the whole 5 hours there without me. Changes are afoot! With that in mind... I am certain that sudden health problems could come about for me due to the new bacteria in the system so I'm quite worried. But all in all, I think things have been starting to smooth out. This movement of Pluto is still concerning.. but I suppose that because of where my own ASC/DCS line is, there is probably more concern for what kind of changes are going to take place within my relationships to others rather than the Mercury opposition. I catch myself making very huge "foot in mouth" type of mistakes which I get confrontations with later.. I don't know when I should defend my point of view, or my odd comments or wether I should even take my own sense of things too seriously and actually try to elaborate to what I mean.. These next days are still a bit more full of things than I like them to be, but I thought I'd try to contribute, and get back in here, and try to make myself useful - Take care, svenskasfinx

Yes, it's just a typo...The SIGN of the Sun (Leo) for another 2 years and in mutual reception with the Sun for another 5 weeks or so.
I'll post Neptune tonight, hopefully.

Svenskasfinx, congratulations on your first day of school... you know what I mean - as big for the mamas as it is for the children. Yes it is a big change! Jade, I logged on to write about Saturn about four times yesterday, and ended up deleting all of it... talk about finding other tasks to do to avoid relating! I wondered what happened to your posts and was glad to see that you've got it figured out today. Message me if you want to talk a bit more about it. I can relate to everything you wrote. I suffer intertia at times when I should be like quicksilver! Saturn might be stuck in me for the time being... I'm taking an alchemical tincture for it - needs more time (ha!) to work through the body/subtle body. pm
