I've wanted to write this since July 6th but with everything that has been happening it's definitely a better post now (I've had a few beers so hope it makes sense to you)  I was in work and I knew that it was a new moon at 1pm at 14.31, I have saturn in pisces at 15.23, pluto in virgo 15.16 and uranus in virgo at 13.48 so only sextiles and trines and wasn't expecting anything much at all. When at work I was talking to a work mate Alison and telling her that I still get acne at my age (40) and that I wish I could find a cure, she then told me that when she was younger she tried dead sea salt baths for her psoriasis and it cleared up the best of anything she has tried. I was very interested in this so after work in the bakery I checked it out on the internet and read that it is good for acne so I drove to the city center to see if I could find any. I found some in a health shop at a good price and bought it at or near the exact time of the new moon. There is nothing much about that but later on this day I started to have dead sea salt baths which I did for a few weeks. I also told my parents what I was trying for my acne and my mother told me that she had acne when she met my father and what cured her was weekend visits to the seaside where she would swim in the sea and the sea salt helped her skin! So that weekend I went swimming in the sea and although I am quite fit I couldn't manage to swim that much so only spashed about a bit and floated around but I loved it. It took me a while to get fully submerged because it was coldish and I have always felt the cold badly ( numb fingers etc). Anyway to cut a very long story short, I realized that I haven't been sea swimming for years and haven't done hardly any swimming. I did a triathlon 10 years ago where I didn't do any swim training, I couldn't find a race that weekend and was so addicted to racing that I just entered it and hoped I would be ok. I hadn't swan for about a year and got into trouble so needed a canoeist to stay by me. This was not a good feeling because I thought I was a good swimmer and I was very fit so it freaked me. Getting back on track though, now I have become almost obsessed with sea swimming and have gone nearly every day since the 10th July. If I go to the beach and get in the water I feel great, if I miss a day I don't feel so good. It's something about the cold water on my body and how it wakes me up and refreshes me like nothing else, I just love it, I think about swimming, dream about swimming, talk all the time about swimming, I am addicted. So what good has come from all this swimming? Well, how fit I have become is the best thing, I am constantly noticing how much faster and how further I can go. there was the time when I was 11 years old and our year did all the exams for the pool, but on the last one it was a long distance test and only me and 1 other boy finished it! I did backstroke because I have always been good at this. We did many lengths of the pool and I remember the gym teacher was impressed but I never carried on with swimming. Now I am wanting to join a club and get some coaching and maybe (if I am quick enough) enter some backstroke events. This is just me and I always have loved to race, it became a huge addiction for me one year and I did 54 races in one year ( was exhausted though). I would just like to find out if I have any potential for my age (40) and that maybe I had some natural talent as a youngster and to see how I compare, that's all Other things that have come from my work mate recommending dead sea salt. With all the swimming I have been going to some great beaches and one you have to walk a few miles through a valley to get to it. So if I feel good I walk fast swim and then after a small sunbathe walk fast back. Then Another beach I cycle to and lock the bike and bla bla - is crazy I could never have imagined that I would be like I am now a few months ago! I've also bought a wet suit yesterday, so I can stay in the water much longer. I then went to oxwich bay and swam (not non stop) for 1 hour 15 minutes. And my skin, I look a lot better, healthier, good tan and all the fresh air and sun. But I do still have acne!!!! |

Swimming is brilliant! I could swim all day if I had to, but haven't had the time recently or the ablity to swim the way I want to because my husband isn't fond of the cold water, and my son has to hang out with me in the lake.
When I first came to Sweden.. and summer came about, I swam around the Archepelligo.. in some places, island to island.. (we didn't have a little boy then)
As far as acne goes.. have you considered your diet? Do you eat sources of animal based fats?
Studies sugest that you try to avoid these things.. as well as saturated fats and colesterol.. My own skin cleared up when I removed things I was allergic to in my own diet.. so even though I'm spotty (freckles) I have finally a rather clear complexion.. but I still have alergic reactions that cause me distress.. like my allergy to the SUN! (Mars conjunct Sun in the first house sesquadrate Neptune in the 6th perhaps?)
Mars in the first house conjunct ASC..that would give me a ruddy complexion, I suppose.

Hi svenskasfinx  how are you? Thanks for the quick reply, I went cycle camping yesterday to a remote beach - I camped in the woods just by it although it was a bit scary being by myself  The weather was very sunny on the way so I stopped at another beach first and had a quick swim then carried on and had another swim when I got to my destination, it was good exercise and ~I had to do a lot of walking to the woods and setting up camp. Today I was gutted because it was thunder storms in the morning and I had to stay in my tent when I had imagined that I'd be sunbathing on the beach so I was gutted  later in the afternoon the rain stopped so I had a good swim but it wasn't sunny, then I went back to my tent but it was getting dark by 8oclock so i decided to come back home and leave my tent and sleeping bag in the woods so I could be lightweight I can go to beach any time now and stay the night there because I have my tent set up - it's a safe enough are so is ok if I don't mind an early night I had to check old posts with you because I remembered that your Jupiter was conjunct my ASC and the mine was to yours, I remembered that you had virgo moon. I looked at your chart again and love your venus sextile moon almost exact! I believe strongly that the more exact the aspect that this definitely has the strongest effect - anyway, tell me svenskasfinx, with the recent new moon so close to your own moon have you had any new major decisions (or minor) or thoughts concerning your own life? Getting back to my original post, this new moon in cancer I had no previous thoughts about the sea or salt or anything, from a series of events I am floating, doing back exercises and swimming in the sea now almost everyday. Cancer is ruled by the moon and the moon has the strong effect of tides and oceans. [/quote] Anyone not interested in astrology would dismiss what I say as just co-incidence, that I've just got interested in swimming and bla bla bla . But to me it is no co-incidence, my Saturn opposite pluto which has neptune (my descendant ruler) trine and sextile to these so the new moon completed a grand trine! my Saturn opposite pluto is my closest aspect (apart from sun conjunct mercury) I'm going to write more but post this for now because I did a huge post earlier then my computer crashed so I'm posting now just in case nige Nige |

Yesterday I was going to write about your swimming activities and your diet but after writing it I lost it all  So I'll try again It was good to find out that you also like swimming and the cold water although I imagine that it must be much much colder where you are/were swimming compared to the sea temperatures here in Swansea now? I think it's approx 18 deg at the moment but in January goes down to about 6 deg! I am hoping to keep up the swimming throughout the winter and have read that if you go everyday that you can build up to it but if you miss days regularly that you feel the cold really badly. They also say that by swimming regular in cold water that your body produces a thin layer of brown fat between the muscles and the skin which helps keep you warm and this is supposed to be healthy fat. Also by swimming everyday you build up a strong immunity to colds and for people like me who feel the cold badly (really cold hands in the winter) it can actually cure this because there are more tiny blood vessels made in the hands to supply more blood! I don't know how accurate these studies are but I want to test it out for myself ;D I've also read about the Korean women divers and how they had to dive for a living and how they acclimatized to extreme cold! As for my skin I've tried lots of diets and I think you are right about animal protein and allergies, the other day I tried to go vegan but couldn't manage more than about 4 days  It was too hard to do. And I have found that I'm allergic to lactose so can't eat dairy food now  I will concentrate more on my diet again soon, it could be to do with bad flora in the gut due to antibiotics I've taken in the past so maybe I should try an anti candida diet again with lots of acidophilus because I tried this before and it helped me a lot bye for now, nige |

I wanted to ask you, had you made a mistake, a Solar return chart is supposed to have the Sun in the same exact place as it is in your birth chart... were you thinking about a Lunar return, or a Progressed chart? I'm awfully confused there! As for a Vegan "Diet" I still want to understand what people find so "difficult" about not eating anything that comes from an animal... It should be GREAT if you have any serious problems with Lactose allergies or problems with the Intestinal flora... if only for one reason alone... NO MILK PRODUCTS!  What do you eat when you think you are "eating vegan"? A lady on the train when I was up to Glasgow and on my way home saw my badge on my bag and had to ask me... "If you are vegan, what DO you eat?" (she was an older lady pondering the thoughts of vegetarian diets due to her son and his wife.. ) I tried to explain.. but her question about what I had for breakfast actually helped me understand how to make it simple in practical terms... That morning I had those canned beans at the hotel, and some fried potato thing.. I had a variety of fruit and they even had tomato there baked in the oven... I mentioned they had "marmite" there.. (something my son really enjoys) but no milk free margarine..(they have a soya margarine in most places in the UK which is so much better for you than sunflower based margarine because of the type of fats...(sunflower oil compeats with the omega 3 because of the large amount of omega 6 which if you needed it so badly can be converted from omega 3 but it can't be done in the reverse... so its potentially bad for the heart) Most people want to put down the potential of soya protien.. but I never saw anything wrong with Tofu.. and people who are on "macrobiotic" diets tend to eat those kind of things as well without harming their health... There are also beans, and if you don't want to soak dinner over night.. Lentils are very good.. there are also peas, and chickpeas too... and a wide variety of fruit and veg!.. if you are overly concerned about the "protein issue" if you eat at least one small portion of beans for just 2 meals a day.. you won't have to think about it.. but remember a human male only needs (depending upon size and weight) an adverage of about 40 grams of protein a day... that is not very much at all..and most vegans will be getting about 65 grams of protein a day. but please explain to me what was so hard about eating "Vegan" food? take care nige svenskasfinx |

Ah, it was my next lunar return that I meant (18th sep 9:34pm) - with this return chart the sun is almost at exact conjunction to my natal venus and the return mercury also a very close conjunction to my natal venus. I was just wondering if this would have any significance for the following 27.5 days or whatever? With the vegan diet I tried I felt completely exhausted and became very hungry, I was sleeping a lot and couldn't exercise much - I didn't feel so good. I have replaced milk with soya milk and I do already eat tofu plus soya margarine (dairy free). I've also replaced processed salt with a high quality organic sea salt which I have felt much better from doing and believe that it is natural and almost exact to your own body salts and better than taking a mineral tablet. I also have high quality organic flax seed oil for the omegas which I take everyday because I read a lot about how good this is for you. A long time ago I did stop eating meat for a couple of years and definitely felt better, they say that meat takes so long to digest that it can begin to rot in the gut and release toxins into the bloodstream (so obviously no good for bad skin conditions). I do want to try and stop meat and maybe try vegan again but maybe it would be better to cut down gradually so I become used to it, someone told me that it can take longer for certain people to adjust. But then I read the articles that are against veganism and they say that children born to vegans can become malnourished because the mother doesn't produce enough milk and bla bla bla . So this scared me because at the end of the day maybe it is natural for humans to eat a little meat and maybe healthier than no meat at all. Could it be that we are just overeating animal sources nowadays and that this is unnatural, plus all the highly processed meats that are so bad for you? I may try a small amount of meat or fish every other day and see how I feel with this as it would be a lot less animal protean than I am eating now. Also because I enjoy sport so much and want to build myself up more I am worried about going full on vegan. Something odd though, I have visited vegan forums and read what they say there and have noticed that these people are similar to me in lots of ways that is hard to describe. I just seem to have more in common with these vegan people and their outlook on life in general. My husband for example.. he quit smoking and eating meat before he was to meet up with me in Chicago in 1998.. so I was moderate about being so strict considering he was " a newbee " and possibly under a great amount of stress just changing his lifestyle on the very possiblity that we may be a pair. So he told me after a few days, how easy I made it seem.... but when he got home to Sweden how he may find it not as easy as all that, but would sincerely try because it was in line with his ethical beliefs.. and wanted for a long time to be a vegetarian. When we moved in together, he told me the first week "I want to be a vegan.. How do we do that?" and I just removed (actually he tossed it in the rubbish) the rennet-free dairy cheese.. and the butter... and since I had said we could TRY to not have any animal products in the house there was not much else to get rid of.... It was very sudden.. and since then we just "avoided" things in restaruants (we soon found many vegan restaruants!) and then he started his web page because he thought it was so wonderful and he felt so good.. (he mentioned that with lunch for example how he'd feel so run down after lunch.. and noticed immediately that he was no longer tired after lunch) The problem with feeling run down and tired (especially when you are not eating fatty food and getting that lunch time crash) may be too few calories. Bottom line is you may feel like you want to eat more, (and you should) but are so filled up by the extra fiber that you can't eat any more... Other people want to go on about "Atkins" and how carbohydrates are "unhealthy" (but beans and whole grains make up the largest portion of our calories (my son included)) when there are studies and research that shows you can be a body builder and a vegan. Meat not only takes long to digest, but they say about 50% of it does nothing but rot in your intestine.. (preditory meat eating animals have short intestinal tracts where as we, closely related to the great apes (pure vegetarians) have very very long intesinal tracts...) But then I read the articles that are against veganism and they say that children born to vegans can become malnourished because the mother doesn't produce enough milk and bla bla bla . once again, a case of not enough calories.. do you know that today even though there is a better chance of understanding and nutritional needs of infants, its funny because by the time a baby is 6 months old, the percentage of baby who are nursed drops drasticly.. even with NON VEGANS the problem is not enough patiance (the people who provide suport for the mother and child) and not enough CALORIES.. because after you are pregnant, you really want to drop those kilos, and as unrealistic as it seems, new mothers need to eat and drink and rest.. regardless of being vegan or not. Vegan mothers have a BETTER quality of breast milk according to what I read because of the amount of omega 3 fats, thus even if a mother doesn't seem to produce so much, the quality is certainly note worthy. As a nursing vegan mother, I NEVER had a problem with too little milk however.... my son doubled his birth weight in 6 weeks on mother's milk alone and NO suplimental formulas or anything like that... so once again.. and knowing several other vegan mums.. *shakes head* obviously "SCARE TACTICS" So this scared me because at the end of the day maybe it is natural for humans to eat a little meat and maybe healthier than no meat at all. Could it be that we are just overeating animal sources nowadays and that this is unnatural, plus all the highly processed meats that are so bad for you? My feeling is we are so far removed from the active creatures humans started out as, its hard to seperate some of the dietary issues with the exersize and environmental issues.. even for the most part if we could live like humans lived in the past, and developed in the past, we would find one thing, only recently humans are dying of cancer and of heart disease... even "wild" peoples, who hunt, (save for the most hostile regions like the arctic) only eat about 5-9% of their calories from any animal source.. and our diet has changed DRASTICLY. never mind food not being what it used to be..(factory farms ect) Something odd though, I have visited vegan forums and read what they say there and have noticed that these people are similar to me in lots of ways that is hard to describe. I just seem to have more in common with these vegan people and their outlook on life in general. I know alot of vegan marathon runners and athletic people.. I totally understand.. what about your swimming where you are? how cold was the water and what is the coldest you have swam in ? It was in Jämtland, I think the temp outside was 25 where as the water temp was a mear 12 degrees c. it was cold but there was sun so it wasn't a problem. Most times I have to swim in warmer water because of my son.. and I hate to see him shiver in 15 degrees. |

Thanks for all the info and I will try again soon but if I don't feel well with it after a good try I will definitely cut down my animal protein intake. At the end of the day eating a healthy amount of vegetables and good fats and cutting down on junk food a vegan or non vegan would be much better off. So there must be unhealthy vegans and healthy ones same as other people. How many years have you been a vegan for? How healthy do you feel? Are you of a healthy body weight etc? One article I read said that becoming a vegan is amazingly healthy for short term but long term it becomes unhealthy! I like to talk to people who have quit animal protein for a long time to see and find out how well they feel for it. But as I've said i will give it another go even if it is just for short term because it is very good for if just for a great detox Nige. |

It's exact in Swansea Wales at 13h13m37s 17th Oct my sun is trine the partial lunar eclipse sun so also sextile the moon 1.05 my sun is square mars 1.34 my sun is trine pluto 0.47 my sun is trine the ASC 0.06 (almost exact!) my moon semi-square mars 0.03 my moon semi-sextile uranus 0.34 my mercury is trine the sun / sextile the moon at 1.52 my mercury is square mars 0.46 my mercury is trine pluto 0.01 (exact as near can be!) my mercury is trine the ASC 0.54 my mars is conjunct the sun/opposite moon at 3.06 my mars is conjunct jupiter at 0.48 my mars is square chiron 0.34 my mars is conjunct MC at 0.12 my jupiter is trine the sun / sextile moon at 1.00 my jupiter is semi-square saturn at 0.05 my jupiter is conjunct the desendant at 1.58 my uranus trine mercury 0.48 my chiron sextile mars 0.07 my MC conjunct mars 1.10 ------------------------------------- What stands out for me is (top 5): 1: my suns close trine/sextile to the eclipse sun and moon 2:my suns almost exact trine the ASC 0.06 3:my mars conjunct the eclipse MC at 0.12 and the eclipse mars conjunct my MC 1.10 4:my mars square the eclipse chiron 0.34 and the eclipse mars sextile my chiron 0.07 5:my mercury trine the eclipse pluto 0.01 ! It does seem very interesting to me Cheers, Nige Ok Nige, to try to answer a few ideas with these aspects: although the trines and sextiles are the easy aspects, and give energies an "easy path" they are not really "power houses".. your squares and oppostions and conjunctions are really the engeries you are going to totally FEEL. I say you can either realize that this energy is useful for your goals, and physical activities as you have been recently enjoying..and getting fit, you have to remember though espeically with aspects to Mars and Jupiter (and the sun to mars) there is a tendancy to get "carried away"... I can not stress the importance of watching out with a bit of caution when you do exercize and do sport... not to push yourself too hard... because eventually it can make the difference between enjoying good health and being laid up in the hospital not having any fun. I side on the side of caution, as a Mars in Cancer should  . As far as articals here and there about Vegan diets, its the same for anyone.. I don't want to convert anyone, but I do want to say, read between the lines, and remember who is putting out this information.. for example is it the "dairy corporation" who will sell their products to a more and more resitant market who has discovered that even a little dairy can agravate allergies (as I found out, seeing that before I used to have rumatoid arthritis in the lower back and wrists) I noted a marked inflexiblity in my body when even eating very very small amounts of dairy products (a rocota cheese calzone for example one time in a matter of several months...) If I count the times I have gone without any milk or eggs for months at a time, or even years at a time before the last 7 years, I've probably been a vegan on and off for about 18 years.. and a vegetarian for more than 23.. (I questioned why we even eat meat at a very very early age, 11 years old seriously). My health has been tricky seeing that most of my problems in that area has been caused by accidents or communical disease recently (chicken pox induced menigitis in the last year and a half.. which has left me weaker..) Johan is lucky, when I asked him how he feels being a vegan, he said, "well I don't feel tired because I'm a vegan, I feel tired because I stay up too late and don't go to sleep." His resistance is good, but he's a junk food eater and loves induging in goodies I cook..(Jupiter in Cancer conjunct the ASC and Moon in the first house) (although he was very very thin when he was younger.. when I came to live with him) I think I made him actually like food.. (Pete who also has Jupiter in Cancer sez.. i"ts always the way it works, if the food didn't taste good, he wouldn't be a vegan..") I suspect we can't blame our less than active life style on our eating habits, good or otherwise. That aside.... I know that its a good move for the health in the long run as well.. and you can look for medical oppion that is independant to find this out.. since our natural food should be more fruits and veg anyway even according to the chemistry of the brain, supposedly stated by Linus Pauling.. (this is why some people even make the cocky statement that vegans are actually SMARTER than most)..(I think it was based upon a raw foods, vegan study..) YOU must seek the information out yourself though, I have given you some of the most medically expert based sites to give you some understanding of the state what it is and means to be vegan.. for the most part we constantly neglect calories. Calories are needed by the body to do work, produce energy, and if you are a typical man, you need alot of calories.. good news though, because you are a human and not a chimp, you don't need as many because your body was designed to conserve energy...a chimp half your size needs to eat twice as many calories as you do, just to move and get around in a healthy way.. its because chimps (our closest relations in the animal world) don't walk or get around with the same efficancy as a human does.. we grow bigger but need LESS food.. this is my theory about why our brains grew bigger, and not the typically accepted version which states "Humans and animals that became humans started eating meat.." Human-like creatures probably only started eating meat when there was NOTHING ELSE to eat.. and more than likely when they did, they died.... None the less we are the top of the pyramid.. we, in our small bodies are only using fractions of our phsycial and mental capacity; humans are beautiful animals.. but born totally helpless... unlike any animal on earth... we are the decendants of survivors.. only now, although they say our life span has increased, we are for the most part sicker, due to our diets (HAVE YOU EVER heard of a Horse or an Elephant with too high colesteral? What about a preditory animal?).. if we eat the way we are supposed to, we won't have the problems we have as a whole now.. remember 50% of all men have too high colesteral, (those who eat a normal "omnivorous" diet.. ) and yet how many VEGANS have too high colesteral? Why are dangerous drugs like Vioxx (a colesteral reducing pill) on the market, when all people need to do is correct their diet? There are studies that show heart disease can be reversed without drugs totally by diet alone, this is not why I made the choice.. Ok Nige, to try to answer a few ideas with these aspects: although the trines and sextiles are the easy aspects, and give energies an "easy path" they are not really "power houses".. your squares and oppostions and conjunctions are really the engeries you are going to totally FEEL. I say you can either realize that this energy is useful for your goals, and physical activities as you have been recently enjoying..and getting fit, you have to remember though espeically with aspects to Mars and Jupiter (and the sun to mars) there is a tendancy to get "carried away"... I didn't say about this because I didn't want to influence what you would have first saw and thought about this partial lunar eclipse. When you told me what you thought I was impressed (i'm finding it hard to explain what I am thinking), let's just say that my opinion of your judgements is definitely very high When I saw this PLE I was at first pleased because of all the strong contacts, then I noticed the mars and then I became worried about this. My worry was because of my sea swimming (open water), although I love it and want to go every day and sometimes twice, I am constantly aware of the dangers. Added to this the fact that I got into difficulty once when I was 18, I went swimming in the sea in a place that I thought was safe enough but I swam out quite a distance, I felt like a fish in water but when I turned around to come back I was in a current so tried to swim fast to get back quick but this was bad tactics because I go too tired. I then realised that I needed to swim at a slower pace and hope I could make headway. It took ages of being frightened and seeming like I was getting nowhere before I could finally see that I was getting back and at a certain distance to the shore it became a lot easier and I made it I don't think I was in a rip tide or anything because they say that Even an Olympic athlete couldn't swim against that type of current but I was at a headland and there was a island nearby, maybe I was in some swirling type of current and the wind seemed against me because waves were going over my face and head. Since writing about this somewhere else on the net someone has said that there can be some bad currents there and I was lucky not to be dragged out to sea! So I do have a small fear every time I go in the sea. I don't swim out far anymore though and I stay close to shore. I've read loads of stuff on the net about the sea and swimming safety but when you read some of the stories it just adds to the small fear that I've already got. So when I saw this PLE chart, when I noticed how much contacts there were to my mars I did become worried and decided that I need to be careful. I hadn't really thought about training too hard (which has always been a problem for me), so I will definitely keep a check on this (I hope) I fell of a cliff when I was 14 and was taken to hospital but all they found was a huge blood clot in my knee and they took out 6 syringes of blood from it. But for the next week I couldn't hardly move and it seemed like every bone in my body was in pain with bad bruising and I was in bain breathing because of bruised ribs and I couldn't walk. After a week I was healing and could start slow painfull walking again, after 2 or 3 weeks I was better, so I thought! Since then I always get a bad back and by becoming so addicted to sports at 18 I was soon visiting the doctors about my back pain and an X-ray showed that I had previously broken a tiny bone at the base of my spine (must have been the fall) so he diagnosed me with slight arthritis! Through the years I've also had neck pain and have been given the same diagnoses and even told that I can't do cycle racing again! My main healer for my back and neck had been stretching/yoga routines, so as long as I stretch regular I can be relatively pain free and the good side to this is that I am very flexible for my age now so there is a good side to it About diet: I have been very interested in diet since 18 for performance improvement. One time when I was at my best form for racing I was totally obsessive with what I eat and it was mainly fresh fruit and veg, I would cook all my own food and eat almost zero junk food. I gave up meat and my heart rate dropped from 42 bpm to 34 during this time! I'm at a new stage of life now and at 40 with the uranus return almost becoming full transit (it's been hanging around for a while now though), they say that it becomes a time when you look back on all you have done and either realise your failings or see your successes, if you have done well or not so far type of thing. Well if I'm honest I would say that I've always felt really good about being fit, it's always been for health reasons with me but I do like to win too But recently I realise far more strongly the huge difference between me and most people my age and there is a much bigger pride in being fit now! For example: If you are very fit at 24 you are among a large number of other early 20's who are also fit. But at 40 you become among a much smaller percentage I am constantly looking back at how I got to where I am and am pleased although I don't like actually being 40, can I still tell girls I meet that I am only late 20's ;D Because of sports I have had to eat a lot of calories and have tried the high calorie sports driks at one time (although I only drink water normaly). For me I would try different diets and see how I felt, how much faster, slower I became, did I have quicker recovery between training or would I become tired out! I have been a diet junkie trying many many diets out. I've even tried fasting which initially made me feel wonderfull and lots of energy to no energy at all and the worst detox ever. It makes you lose weight and isn't good for you at all. Maybe 1 or 2 days but after that it's the worst thing ever. I have also tried the atkins and stuck with it for over a month, this was another terrible diet for training and without carbs what a waste of my effort! The best training diets I've been on are lots of fruit and veg with no junk food nothing processed or added chemicals and for race day i found that I did best with just eating some bananas 1 hour before the race ;D But for everyone no diet can be right for everyone. because of allergies etc, but definitely too much junk and animal protein is the cause of the huge amount of illnesses and stomach problems of today. Only 100 years ago everyone eat organic food! people were so much healthier and they could be walking 10 miles a day on average. Now it's junk food and no exercise, people drive everywhere and just get fat. Doctors There is so much depression around but a lot of this is due to bad diets and lack of exercise. The doctors don't help because they just prescribe pills and tablets that in reality are terrible for your health. At the end of the day if you have a headache then you should seek out the cause not a tablet that masks it. the same with heartburn or stomach problems, this is obviously due to eating the wrong diet but most people will just take tablets and whatever to give relief instead of changing their diets to cure the problem. Anyway what I was saying is that I will definitely cut down on animal protein - I will try to live without it but it will all depend how I feel in the long term. I think I've said that the latest scientific studies have concluded that we are definitely mainly fruit and vegetable eaters although we did also eat a small amount of insects, probably similar to the Aborigine. If I gave up all animal food it is definitely for health and fitness - although I do love animals in reality, especially cat I LOVE them, so can understand the reason for not eating any animal on compassionate level completely. I agree with so much you say and this is why I said that I find I am more like other vegans that I've talked to and their lifestyles etc. for example: I would love to live in a community free from cars, tv, radio, material wealth etc - Lots of vegans I have talked to are so much more in tune with things and not so superficial, but that is another story Bye for now Nige |

As you probably already know, I too do yoga occasionally as well.. I too am very flexible for my age, actually for ANY age... and before I fell down the stairs in 2001 (after the emergency C-section a long story there as well!) I haven't been really able to do a back bend and get up perfectly from it.. I figure I need to still train the muscles in my back and stomach to do what they used to do. After this "inactivity" I didn't loose the weight but actually gained a bit.. (considering I am a very short person it's not difficult to eat too much and realize only too late, I can't eat as much as I'm used to eating ANY MORE especially when I'm not AS active as I have been in the past) I used to walk amost everywhere, and although I wasn't a good runner up until recently, I am a strong swimmer and a hard worker and that kept me "overweight" but only at 16% body fat..really... I guess I tended to push myself as well... I think the best thing for the strength is to do the yoga head stand for about 2-4 minutes... it is said if you can get the ballance of the headstand mastered for 6 minutes (but you are not supposed to go over 11 minutes I think) you will master other things in life, or get a better perspective, it certainly is an ego boost. I get the feeling these transits are going to activate your feelings of having "mortality" considering yes, we all have fears.. When I first got a really bad back it was after training too hard at 18 years old and I was cycling, running, swimming and lifting heavy weights - too much training and not enough rest. But the heavy weights were the worst and I've learned from this. I was then sent to do hydrotherapy and this helped me a real lot and I found that all the stretches the physiotherapist had me doing in the pool I could do my own stretching so bought books on flexibility and yoga. I also did a lot of strengthening exercises for my back. By the time I was racing at 23 my back got better and better, until at about 27 I can honestly say I felt as if I had completely cured it. My big mistake was that I had a year off and when I started training again I had lost some flexibility but my bike was set up for when I was more flexible. Also my fitness level was still good but my body was weaker so I started to get injuries. I should never have stopped completely - because of this I started getting a lot of neck pain too. I was going to mention this but forgot to, with the swimming I have found that it is amazing for my back and neck. Since swimming a lot my back feels great and it is a great work out for all your muscles - stomach, back, buttocks, legs, arms, chest. Also I do a LOT of stretching exercises while swimming, twists and leg bends, turns in the water that were painful to do when I first started swimming. I would definitely recommend regular swimming for anyone with back ache. I have more to write to you but I have to rush because I am camping with my parents tonight and have to catch some daylight will write more when I get back home... Bye for now Nige |

Today I went cycling at 12 midday and went to caswell bay for a swim, then I cycled to Pwll du and had swim number 2, then I cycled to Oxwich bay for swim no 3. Easy to write but the hills involved in this expedition were very steep and I got sooo tired out I just wanted to be back home in my bed It was too many miles, with too many hills, and I can not walk, it's not in my nature (I have to cycle up any hill I meet)- I got back home at 9:00pm and was exhausted I hope I feel ok after some rest, anyway, my own mortality: definitely sea swimming has made me think more about dying but I can understand sky divers or bungee jumpers more now because they get that fear before they jump and I feel this same thing when I get to beach and hear the sea and know that I will be going into that in a minute I do have very low blood pressure but I think this is different to resting heart rate! The lower your resting heart rate the better and I read once that the lowest recorded was for a marathon runner and he had a RHR of 27! So what I was saying was that the less animal protein I eat the lower (healthier) my RHR became - 34 is excellent Although I do have very low blood pressure this has nothing to do with fitness because my twin brother (identical) has the same although he is opposite to me! Thanks for the advice for taking it easy and moderation and taking it easy. Some other things you said about, they were things that I often talk about! world war 2 and how healthier people were, organic farming - I often say that during the war we all had to grow our own food. I always say about organic and how much healthier we all were before cars etc etc. About the government hiding it from us I didn't know about this By now Nige... |
