I'm taking Kim's advice and posting a question I posed to her via private message...I'm not sure if this thread will generate a lot of interest, but I'm sure we've all wondered about this at one point or another...my question concerned planets that are conjunct the Asc. of a return chart...here's what I wrote to Kim:
For a visual reference, I've decided to post the chart of the LR I'm referring to here and a link to my natal chart for comparison:

After reading Kim's response, I noticed a few things that also left me curious and intrigued (Kim, hopefully you would be able to add a bit of insight on this as well?!)...My natal Sun falls right on the cusp of the LR 2nd house and exactly conjunct the LR Mercury...you might have also noticed that there's a pretty potent grand cross in effect that involves my natal Moon...I look at my return charts every month, but for some reason, this one is making me sit up and take notice (especially with the exact square between the LR Sun and LR N.Node on the AP!)...
I would greatly appreciate any and all input if you should feel so inclined...I know it's just a Lunar Return and the energies are supposed to me more felt on an internal level...but it's been a bit rough for me lately and I'm looking for signs of positive change on the horizon (no matter where it happens to be felt!)...
Here's Kim's response to me as she did give me permission to post it:
Feel free to share your own experiences with planets rising in your return charts and how the energy of that particular planet manifested during that cycle!
Thank you!
My next Lunar Return is on June 21, the day of the Cancer ingress...in fact, my LR is literally the chart of the Summer Solstace (in the Northern Hemisphere)...the Sun in the LR chart is at 0 Cancer 1...the asc. of that chart is 3 Cancer 21, so there's a rather strong conjunction between the LR Sun and the LR Asc...also, the exact cusp of my natal 12th house is brought to the Asc. of the LR chart (my natal 12th house cusp using the Placidus house system is 3 Cancer 20)...
Is this at all significant and does it add and extra weight or heft to my upcoming lunar month/cycle?!...it may also be worth noting that my Solar Return will be occuring within that month as well...

Hi Lunar,
You always ask interesting questions. This could go on a return thread..."planets rising in the return"...if you want to post it there, and my answer, go for it. It would give others a chance to contribute too.
The Sun rising in any return chart is like shining a torch (a flash light) on the Ascendant. It brightens it up. You many find, in this up coming lunar return, that you feel more gregarious and social. You may really want to get out an mix (which isn't particularly a Cancer thing, but it is a SUN thing !
The Sun is on the AP at that time is in aspect to the Nodes conjunct the AP! That's only going to happen once every 9 years or so and maybe only a few times in your life in a return chart. I think having it right on the Ascendant augers well for 'being noticed'.
Is your Moon in the 10th then, in Taurus? This adds emphasis to the career, mission and profession. You may find a stronger focus there this lunar month. Also look at the grand cross-ma/sa-ch-mo-ju and see where this inherent challenge is nested into the chart. Angular? By working through the challenges presented there, the flow of energy beams out of you, making this potentially quite an 'attracting' month.
Let us know how this goes, and start a new thread on it in RETURNS if you want to see what others might say.
Warmly,
Kim
