Hi everyone! I am going to use this thread to give some basic information about reading return charts. I'll add snippets of iinsight periodically. The question came up recently about 'What happens when say Jupiter returns once then a few months later retrogrades then later returns again? Which return do you read for the following 12 years?"Answer 1. Returns last for until the NEXT return (the next conjunction to the natal planet in question. Example: If natal Jupiter is at 10 Scorpio 30', you would do a return chart for the moment transiting Jupiter reached 10 Scorpio 30'. If Jupiter then moved up several degrees (months) then went retrograde and crossed 10 Scorpio 30' again, THAT moment would be your next Jupiter return, even if it was only 5 months later. Of course, you would then have ANOTHER return when Jupiter went DIRECT back over the natal 10 Scorpio 30. You either get 1 Jupiter return (or Saturn, or Venus or Mercury etc, or you get THREE. A DIRECT return, then a RETROGRADE return, and the final DIRECT return that 'lasts' until the full orbit is complete (about 12 years for Jupiter, 2 years for Mars, 1 for Mercury etc.) You read each chart as applicable until the NEXT return (whether that is a month later or 29 years later) This NEVER applies to the SUN or Moon as the luminaries NEVER go retrograde. This DOES applie to demi-returns and other increment returns. The bottom line is, the return lasts until the next conjunction of the transiting body to its natal position.
