Hi Kim,
I was curious to know whether the fixed stars have any influence on a solar return chart. If so, what do you think Spica conjuncting the moon in a solar return chart might mean?
From what I've read about the fixed stars, the effect is mostly felt from stars at the time of birth. But then, I know that important buildings are built when fortunate star positions are forming.
I've recently read just a small bit about the fixed stars, and find the subject very inspiring and powerful.
I appreciate any input.

Hello Marie, The fixed stars can be considered in any chart and are particularly important in Horary readings (a chart done for a moment in time to answer a question). Moon at 23 Libra, on Spica, is like a breath of fresh air. It’s a wonderful position and actually the only really supportive one in the “Via Combusta” or fiery road between 15 Libra and 15 Scorpio. (I have more information on this in the Eros Guide for Eros through Libra. It will be up on the 29th.) Yes, the fixed stars are powerful. You just have to be very careful when reading the ancient delineations. They were written for a different time, different culture and different consciousness. Their harsh fatality can be disturbing. Getting to the meaning of the fixed stars “behind” their sensational tags is the trick! Kim  |

:)Hi kim, Thank you so much for your reply. I look forward to reading your article on the Via Combusta on the 29th. I was looking at my solar return chart again and noticed that I have Venus in Libra in the 15th degree! It is conjunct Jupiter in the 9th degree, both in the 8th house. Ceres is there at 17 degrees as well. To add to the via combusta stellium, I have Mars in the 29th degree of Libra in the 9th house! The moon at 23 degrees is also in the 9th house. When I first looked at my Solar Return chart, I thought it looked great, with my Sun conjunct Midheaven. I thought it looked like a good year professionally. Is there something I need to know? Hi Marie, This is what I mean about the Fixed stars!!! We can get really apprehensive because the ancients would interpret them (and everything else mind you) with total and complete judgements! A Stars was either fortuitous or disastrous…or Very very fortuitous or Very very disastrous!!! It is like saying Saturn is bad and Jupiter good. Venus is happy and Mars is angry. With our understanding of consciousness, and the unconscious, we know these kinds of labels are neither helpful or accurate. It is so much more complex than “good” or Bad…<br> The Via Combusta is not the road to Hell on greased wheels! There are a few intensities there and a LOT of energy. It tend to think of that as a “good” thing! I like the look of Venus/Jupiter in Libra in the 8th. That’s a very good sign for joint financial involvements, borrowing money or gaining (attracting) support from those who can help. It’s probably pretty good for sex too!  Moon with Spica is charmed. You could borrow money to build a house! Is it square Saturn? That could mean home improvements! That Mars at 29 Libra is restless in the 9th. You’ll need to find ways to burn adrenaline or any stress that comes up. Do you go to the gym? Play a sport? The body will need to move! Sun on the MC is dazzling for the social identity. :DHi Kim! I feel better now! It is true that reading about the fixed stars can be unsettling. I'll keep what you said in mind. The moon IS square Saturn, and home improvements are something I need and really want. Also, the sun IS trine Saturn in the chart! Rising is 4 degrees of Aquarius, which is found natally in my first house. I like the sound of good sex with the 8th house involvement - It's been a while!! Like many people, I'd love a soulmate to come my way too! One thing I've noticed in this chart, is that Mars and Venus are is sextile to Pluto. In my natal chart they both square Pluto. so this seems nice to me. Mars squares Saturn so I guess I really need to go jogging! I'm going to read your article on returns now. It is always interesting when a natal chart aspect (like your Mars/Venus square Pluto) is repeated in some way in the Solar Return (Mars/Venus sextile Pluto). Because the sextile connects planets of the same polarity, it can feel like you have more opportunities with the energy. You may find ways to express that strong natal aspect (is it a T-square?) that are creative and fruitful this year!

Kim et all,
Solar Return Charts are a new idea to me and I am finding them very interesting.
Kim knows a good bit about my personal situation, but I compared the solar return charts of myself, my husband and another man with whom I have had a life-changing, major transforming relationship in the past year. At first I was drawn to Kim's site as a way to explain what was going on with this young man, and now I am using astrology to try to let go of him.
Kim, my solar return shows the Sun conjunct BML, Mercury conjunct Venus and several asteroids, including his name asteroid all in 12th house Gemini! No surprise there.
Now, this is where the fun starts. And I have a question brewing. In the solar return chart of this young man (and I did get a brief email from him and was supposed to see him for a few minutes today but he did not show) get this--Neptune is conjunct his DC and each of the sir name asteroids of my hyphonated last name rest on either side of Neptune, one four degrees conjunct and the other three degrees away from Neptune and exact on the 7th house cusp. This whole things sits right on my birth chart Chiron/Eros conjunction which is conjunct his Ceres/Vesta conjunction. In his solar chart also has Venus/Uranus conjunct in the 8th house. (Venus is sitting 9 degrees from my sir name, but that may be a bit wide to be considered in orb.) His Eros squares my first name asteroid and his moon sextiles it. But all this does not support a chart that otherwise shows heavy emphasis on the 5th, 6th and 10th houses.
My husband also has Venus/Uranus conjunct in his first house Aquarius, 8 degrees from his Asc. My first name asteroid is conjunct his Moon although they are in different signs and houses.
In my solar chart, Venus Squares Uranus.
What might be some ways of verbalizing these configurations? How the Universe manages to orchestrate these things will forever remain one of Life's great "magnum mysterium."
What is also interesting is that my chart and my husband's have a similar shape and distribution, while the other man's chart is distributed and shaped the exact opposite of mine.
And just for kicks, I found out that "Urania" is exactly conjunct my Mars...

Hi Again, No it is not a T-square, but Venus and Mars also square Uranus. So Venus and Mars are conjunct in Sag., and Pluto and Uranus are conjunct in Virgo. Meanwhile…<br> There is much to look at in this 2004 solar return of the young man. Yes, Neptune’s placement is both mystical and foggy. He’d feel pretty confused. The immediate thing that strikes me is the Uranian emphasis, which you have pointed out: His Uranus/Venus in the 8th with your name asteroid and your natal Mars, your SR Venus square Uranus with his Moon conjunct the Venus side and his MC conjunct the Uranus side is marked. If that wasn’t enough of a signature of sudden events, abrupt change, emotional revolution and teleportation into other “dimensions” of awareness, then there is the blatant display of your natal Mc/Moon/Uranus rising on his SR ascendant. Clearly there is a constellation of Uranian energy and I do believe some “Fire was stolen”! You may have found that this last year with him has brought deep material from the unconscious into the light. Just like Prometheus’s gift of fire to young mankind, the enlightenment comes with a price. You may be familiar with the feeling of that eagle coming in the night to nibble on your liver. Just keep in mind that Prometheus was released and the feelings that we must suffer when we do get a chunk of consciousness back will subside! That 2004 SR is on the way out. In his 2005 SR, he has Venus on the AP at 0 Capricorn and it is now sextile Uranus. Your natal Mars, of course, is right on Uranus (you having the transit of Uranus over Mars/Pallas). Your natal Venus is opposite, and receiving the trine from Uranus. The theme is not over. Yet this year for him, the 7th house no longer holds the ineffable Neptune but is ruled by direct and decisive Mars. I think if he says he is going to meet you (after his birthday) he will definitely meet you! Eros is conjunct Pallas Athene and rising this year in his SR. Jupiter being the first major planet to rise and conjunct natal Pluto is powerful and also direct. He is going to know what he wants! That his SR south Node is on your Neptune/Vesta/Ascendant reflects the kind of bond (be it past life or soul memory or that you come from the same choir) that you share. Perhaps it will be something more recognizable for you both next year. The sextile to his Mercury/Venus in the SR suggests you may even be able to talk about it, at least in letters or email (opposite your natal Sappho could meant that type of lyrical, written communication). Can you see the shift in these two return charts (his 04 and 05)? And yes, the patterns are interesting to watch. We tend to like patterns like our own. They make sense. Yet we are drawn to those that “fill in our gaps” even though they baffle us sometimes! Warm wishes, Kim |

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. One of the things I appreciate about your paid readings is that they have such an educator's "bent" to them. I am stimulated to ask more and more questions as I begin to "see" more. You have created a monster...
But I also know that participating in this forum has been a huge gift for me as someone who has spent a lifetime running from feelings. (all those air and fire signs have ruled the roost.)

:)Hi Kim and All, I too understand the desire to communicate, and often, with my Scorpio Sun dwad in Geminii! I was wondering Kim what you thought about pre-natal new moon charts? Spica is conjunct my pre-natal new moon. Do you consider this influence valid? It is interesting to me that now, in my Solar Return chart, Spica conjuncts my Solar Return moon. Any thoughts? Hi Bridget, I’ve never worked with prenatal New Moon charts, so I can’t comment on the conjunction with Spica at all. How do you feel it might work? Have you used this technique much? I think the Moon in the Solar return is very important. Conjunct Spica has would be good for the social and creative life. What house is the SR Moon in , in the SR chart and back into the natal? Hi Kim , In my SR chart the moon is in the 9th house. The SR moon falls in my natal ninth house as well. As for the pre-natal new moon chart, I found it as an option on the astro-dienist chart selection. I think I read that Robert Hand created it but I'm not 100% on that. I haven't seen it anywhere else. I was adopted as a little baby, so to me, I thought that maybe Spica on the pre-natal new moon, was a blessing regarding the life I would be adopted into.
