What would you look for transit wise for 2 older people looking to marry? Both been married previously and wanting the best possible outcome for this one!

Anitaw, I missed this message. Interesting query... I think that Saturn becomes more and more an ally as we mature, though "best possible outcome" can vary--are they wanting romance? adventure? security? change? Think about what they want to experience, then the rulerships associated with that desire will pop up. Does this make sense? Kim

I met Doug on the internet. We have now known each other for one year. We want to get married in October '05. I have birth information for charting, etc. and would like to know what someone else thinks about the outcome of the event and when the best time would be to actually perform the act of marriage. If no solution comes, we at least have spiritual affirmations. Your response to this message will be greatly received. Thank you, Catherine

Hello Catherine, here are some pointers on the marriage chart that I copied from internet ... is about the marriage day which will be choose so look to have:
-no squares from the moon, no VOC moon -waxing moon (bet new & full is better than waning) -fixed signs rising are best for long lasting relationship, then cardinal, esp libra, capricorn, cancer (nurturing)... (aries & mutable can indicate very short lived situations) -sun & moon in harmonious asp (sun = groom, moon = bride) -ruler of asc & dc in harmonious asp to each other -saturn can limit or bring delays should not be in angular house... best in cadent hses (3H,6H, 9H, 12H)... saturn can be put in 2H, 5H, 8H, 11H -keep uranus out of angular hses, esp 1H & 7H. -sun, moon, venus, jupiter should be above the horizont... elevated... 3 out of 4 is good. -a strong, well asp venus is beneficial... venus & mars should be in harmonious aspect... venus & asc, venus & dc, venus & jupiter, venus & moon. -avoid the moon in scorpio, which is fallen, can be secretive & possessive -libra moon (harmony) & leo moon (strong) are good -retro venus is not advised for marriage ... this is easy to avoid... venus retro 40 days every 2 yrs. -avoid sun/moon approaching square/opp to uranus... indicates separation/divorce
And also a small article about electing the time to get married: ... "We look first to the planets that rule the first and seventh houses and represent the groom and bride to be. We wish to see these planets in a good Zodiacal state and making an applying sextile or trine with reception. We would also wish to see them placed in good houses. Similarly, we look to the ruler of the tenth house which indicates whether or not they are compatible and will get along well and the ruler of the fourth house which signifies the outcome, for good or ill, of the marriage. We would like see see these house rulers well fortified and in good houses. We also look to particular planets. In marriage as in any election, we would wish to see the Moon, the significator of action, strong and in a good house. Mercury has natural signification of children in a marriage election and if he is well dignified and in aspect with Venus or Jupiter this indicates that they will soon have a child. Venus, the Goddess of Love, is, of course, of great importance in marriage. As William Ramesey says in his Astrologia Restaurata, "...for it is impossible that the marriage be good where Venus is impotent or afflicted; neither can it be very bad if she be strong and well aspected of the Fortunes; for in Marriages she is the chief significatrix." William Ramesey, Astrologia Restaurata (London, 1653) page 176. Finally, for the best results the astrologer needs to consult the birth charts of both parties. This ensures that malefic planets in the birth chart are not chosen as significators in the election and assists the astrologer in choosing the appropriate time. Those married at an inauspicious time should not despair as their natal charts will make a considerable difference in the success of the marriage." ...
Hope this helps...

We have the blaring 'No VOC moon' top of the list and in an event chart that can be important but really let's get to the core of what a VOC means.
In a Horary, VOC means there are no more aspects for the moon to apply to. Aspects = action, events. That is why when moon is VOC we say 'nothing' to worry about because 'nothing' happens. No struggle...it's all float down stream from here. In some cases it might mean we are surrendered to the experience no matter what, or that we feel it is our fate.
I repeat that we don't all want the same things in any partnership and to make a list of 'shoulds' limits our thinking.
There is a lot more to the relationship that the wedding chart, but in this case, I think a VOC might be lovely...I want to say, 'no worries'. They will have the dynamic they chose to create with each other but the perfect launch for the event is individual...If you WANT growth and change, go for cardinal rising, not fixed. If you want feisty exchange, get some squares in there...see what I mean?
We need to each make our own list of what would Look Great for a wedding day. This is a new paradigm and Horary and mundane Astrology is one of the last fields to catch up. We need to ask What we want and WHY we want it, imagining the authentic alignments from that point.
What do others think about this?
I'd love to hear!
Kim

Hi Kim, I've wrestled with the VOC Moon topic today and have resolved this issue for myself. I AGREE - nothing changes. If it is good, bad or indifferent - it is what it is. Also, I am somewhat less concerned about these event charts than I was a few days ago. You meet (event), maybe kiss (event), perhaps make love (event), have troubles (event x #?) and happy occasions (event x #?) and so on. All this is cumulative, just like the rest of our lives. None of this overcomes the potential of the natal (progressed) chart, and in terms of a couple, the synastry and composite. The event chart reflects the situation and where you are in your life, which has an effect on your reaction to the event. Every chart must be interpreted in context. What seems bad could be good and what seems good could be bad. It all depends on your perspective, as such, much derived from the natal and other relevant charts (composite, progressed, etc.). The Sun/Mars t-square with Uranus and Saturn today could mean the final loss of a beloved to one person or the start of a marriage to another. EVERYTHING IN CONTEXT! Hell, my plants had this transit today and they are telling me they need water and a little more light. Cumulatively, they have had a good life so far. We can fix the problem (and I will tomorrow, first thing). Root rot would be another issue, altogether. My bottom line opinion: You can draw much insight from an event chart, especially when it confirms aspects and tendencies in other relevant charts. However, it is only a moment in the progress of an entire life. It definitely has influence. It most likely is significant. Alas, there is so much more that must be considered. As always, Kim. Thank you. Love and light to you, Aphrodite P.S. "When the Moon is in the 7th house and Jupiter aligns with Mars..." It is just another day in the life of a rock. Or... "This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius..." Who knows? -- Let us look deeper to find out!

Great comments and points on this intriguing question. Thank you Aphrodite! I'm thinking now of what my first astrology teacher told me-- Few do, but we can out grow our charts. Any chart. It reminds us that consciousness is outside the closed system. It's limitless! We can interpret and respond to events any way we like. We choose. Thanks again! Kim

I'm thinking now of what my first astrology teacher told me-- Few do, but we can out grow our charts. Any chart. It reminds us that consciousness is outside the closed system. It's limitless! We can interpret and respond to events any way we like. We choose. Hi Kim, I think a lot about mastering my chart (self-mastery). There are outside events that we have no control over. However, we are not slaves to our natal aspects or the winds of fate presented to us via transits/progressions or even other people. If we can understand the energy coming into our life, we can put it to work - use it instead of being used by it. The goal is to use what we are given to rise to out highest potential. "Few do, but we can out grow our charts. Any chart." WOW! That is HUGE, a true "evolution of the soul" way of thinking! I suddenly feel that I have set the bar too low. I don't know how to set it higher just yet, but just knowing it is possible is empowering. Thank you! Warmly, Aphrodite
