Hi Searose, Are you talking about agape as the ancient Greeks described? Transcendent, or spiritual, love? Kim

yes kim, i just got the book, relationship analysis, and he talks about agape being the greatest dimension of love and i was trying to use it in synastry but i think i'm way over my head with this and the book!

I don't see Agape in the asteroid listing but I find Agapenor as a possibility. Here's a description of him: www.greece.org/cyprus/Agapenor.htmI see Amor acting as Agape in my chart also. He can represent the capacity for spiritual and platonic love along with what unconditional love means.

Yes, I clearly see Agapenor as a good possibility. Mine is at 18 vi 43 in my 2nd, close to my Sun and conjunct my husband's Pluto-Uranus. His north node is at 0 aq 55 in the 12th of my husband, the 7th; I stood by him when he was imprisoned for a year for driving with .09 BAC, (no accident, pulled him over because he tapped the brake to release cruise control and they claimed it was suspicious with no oncoming traffic to use the brake.) The south node is at 13 ta 49 conjunct my Panacea in the 10th. That year cured his obsessive fear that I wouldn't stand by him till death. It's interesting that the asteroid nodes aren't opposite each other. His lonar nodes stand at the midpoint of Agapenor's north and south nodes. Very interesting. The perehelion is at 13 le 16 where his name asteroid lies in my chart, in the 12th. Yes, this and Amor will fill the definition of divine love.

Agape

I've just discovered this thread from browsing the Synastry forum, and have looked up Agapenor in my chart and it appears at 19.49 Taurus, in the 12th, conjunct Mars by less than one degree and the exact antiscion of Venus. (Sometimes I wish there was a program where you could find out all the asteroids within, say, 5 degrees of a natal planet in your chart!) But then I make a discovery like this, apparently "out of the blue" (I'd only seen reference to Agape for the first time yesterday in a Robert Blaschke book - the one searose mentioned I think - and had marked it to look up later!) I firmly believe that it's made itself known to me at a point where I can understand it and integrate it.
On the face of it, Agape seems a strange companion to Mars - spiritual, transcendent love closely conjunct the God of War and in earthy and sensual Taurus. There seems to be very little written about Agape astrologically, so I'm working in the dark here (12th house!) It seems to be indicating how it is possible to access that kind of love in your life. So for me, it's saying that I will find Agape in secret/behind the scenes (12th house) through earthy sensuality, and through connection with the earth through being in nature. And via the Taurus/Scorpio polarity, through the death of the ego (I've seen Agape associated both with Aquarius and Scorpio, but Scorpio seems much more relevant). I think there's also something strong there about the willingness to sacrifice material possessions (Taurus).
This is a synastry thread, so I'll volunteer this too although it's a tough one - a close (3 degree) synastric conjunction from someone's Venus to my Mars/Agape. It's clear to me that several things are playing alongside each other which mirror Mars/Agape clearly. There's a strong physical attraction (on my part at least), combined with an awareness which took me by surprise, that I would sacrifice a great deal for him, even sacrifice being with him at all, if that was best. That isn't comfortable! There is no relationship at present and for all sorts of reasons, there may never be, so what I'm saying about sacrifice is hypothetical. But it's no less real to me for all that.
I've seen very little written up anywhere else about Agape and conjunctions to natal planets, or in synastry. I hope this post reignites interest in this fascinating topic and one that really deserves to be looked into further.
