Kim and Friends,
Advance apologies for what may seem like seemingly pedestrian questions but the sheer comfort of this place is that I know I will learn. Someone will know and I won't feel like an idiot for asking. Thus, much thanks in advance for any feedback.
First Question
Can progressions deeply affect or change the way we actually "feel?"[/u]
I am curious about progressions. First let me say this is odd but I want to better understand what progressions actually "do" to us mere mortals. I mean my natal chart has a heavy aries (moon/mars/eros/ic) and gemini signatures(sun/mercury/descendant). But for some time now I have felt awash in very intense feelings (yikes! tough for a person who has spent most of her life trying to push out the airy gemini and suck back in the fiery aries) about everything, the children, my work and where it is or is not going and then of course my health and D.
This morning I pull up my progressed chart and I see it is completely dominated by CANCER (note my solar return is similarly dominated by Scorpio-- moon, ascendant and 12th house). So does this explain my increased sensiitivities, pyyschic perception, tendency toward secrecy and reflection.
Question Number 2
Is it valid/useful/helpful to compare my Natal Chart to D's Progressed chart for answers on what is transpiring between us? I ask this because I was struck by the fact that his Progressed Chart (like my natal) has a heavy Aries imprint on it. So for example I see this:
D's Current Progressed Chart
Mercury 20 Aries
Venus 24 Aries
Psyche 22 Aries
These placements all closely conjunct my natal Moon at Aries 21
Chiron 1 Pisces and Descendant 2 Pisces
These placements closely conjunct my natal Chiron Pisces 1
MC Taurus 27
This placement conjuncts my natal Venus at Taurus 22
My Very Watery Progressed Chart
Sun Cancer 14
Venus Cancer 18
Mercury Cancer 29
Descendant 26 Cancer
D's natal Ascendant is 27 Cancer and conjuncts tightly my Progressed Descendant at 26 Cancer.
Are these partially responsible for the persisent pull between us right now?

Well, BO, I can say that what a person is becoming (progressed chart) will be woken up by the natal of another. Two progressed charts in synastry can also be interesting, but since that is a map of what each is becoming, it may not make as immediate an impact.
It depends on what inner relationship one has to the things "one is becoming." If you are becoming more secretive, reflective, intuitive and have a good "feeling" about all that, you won't mind it being woken up by someone else. But if you are anxious about what is being woken up, you will be both fascinated and repelled by those who are doing the waking up.
When I met C., Neptune was on my Chiron/Eros and Pluto was opposing my Sun. His moon is conjunct my Sun. It was very very rough, and intoxicating at the same time!!!
More on this soon. Just got back from my trip to care for mom and things are hopping around here.

I guess I was writing in generalities. Yes, it is valid to compare your progressions to Doc's natal and vice versa, but you can not tell how he is FEELING from looking at the charts. It is my understanding that the composite and progressed composite chart is an energy you both share, but how each is feeling about it can vary from day to day, year to year.

Thanks Amoroso, especially for taking time out to respond with caring for your mom! Yes! I do see what you are saying about the awakening. He AND my progression seem to be awakening some deep seated need I have to actually allow myself to be emotional, truly attached and sort of out there testing issues of true intimacy evenif I get hurt. They aren't composites-- actually--I was comparing my natal next to his progressed natal and his natal next to my progressed. At any rate the issue of awakening is pivotal and helpful for me!

I’m glad these questions about progressions have come up. The way we look at progressions is to view them BACK to the natal. We check the positions of the progressed planets (the inner planets and asteroids being of greatest concern, and the angles), and relate them to houses, angles and planets in the natal (or draconic). The progressions are quite personal. We all get the same Neptune in Aquarius transit and the same Saturn in Leo but our progressions are unique to us. These progressed planets (and this applies to converse progressions as well) have to do with the moment in time we express the unfolding or blossoming of ourselves—the fate of the natal. Remember, unlike transits, there is nothing ‘happening’ astronomically with progressions. They are symbols only—symbols wanting (demanding) expression. They are about shifts, internal or external, that move us forward towards our greatest potential. In a composite, we can look at progressed composite back to the composite chart as well. This describes the same process of unfolding for THE RELATIONSHIP. When the composite gets a progressed ‘hit’ something is on the move for the union. Something fated about the relationship comes to life and wants to be expressed. When progressions involved angles or Nodes, we usually see and event and ‘people’ attached to it. It acts out externally. Progressed to progressed in the same chart is also relevant, especially when triggered by a transit. For example, Progressed Moon conjunct the Descendent at 16 Aquarius (current Neptune transit) is going to have quite an impact. I’m sure you can all think of a few adjectives to go with this kind of dreamy, spiritual, illusive, heady experience of ‘the other”. You get the idea… So right away you see that a progression is relevant to the individual (or relationship in the case of composite) who is experiencing it. They are facing inner change and growth when a progression comes to a significant natal point or makes aspect in the progressed chart. Enter the synastry. People ARE like permanent transits. Transits augment progressed contacts for individuals and so do synastry contacts! For example, I have progressed sun at 21 Cancer and I have recently been working with someone who has natal sun at 21 Cancer. Our ‘dial’ is tuned like a magnet and we do, as Jung said, “people our lives with bits of ourself.” If someone’s progressed planet lands on one of our natal planets, that person (because of who they have ‘progressed’ into) confronts us with our own Self! Of course, they become very handy hooks (as Liz Greene teaches) for our projections. If we are unconscious of the bits of ourself that the natal planet represents, then being around them could get annoying—or confronting, because we are looking in the mirror and on some level we know it. That person is going to trigger us—or we them as our natal qualities push them towards who they are becoming. Does this make sense? Comments?  Kim |

Wonderful narration. Thank you. I "confronted" the lilith by virtue of my progressed venus at 0 deg Cap exactly quincunx M's lilith at 0 deg Leo.
Does confrontation erupt between someone's own progressed and natal planets ? Should the contact be one of hard aspects to have confrontation ? Aspects between Progressed and natal planets indicate moments of conflict and growth be it internal or external. We are forced to act when confronted and with conflict we have a choice to ignore the issue.
BO, note that statement of Kim:
If someone’s progressed planet lands on one of our natal planets, that person (because of who they have ‘progressed’ into) confronts us with our own Self!
I highlight the word 'confront' in red. The issues indicated by and the style of your Moon is challenged by Ds progressed Psyche and Mercury. I don't consider D's Venus here since very tight orb of less than 1 deg is essential to experience the contact.

Wow, what an interesting discussion ... I am wondering if by confrontation, another's progressed planet always appears as a "negative" ... It seems to me that the natal person, although still seeing a part of herself mirrored in the other, may LIKE what she sees! ... that is, we can project our hidden good qualities as well as the ones we'd rather not admit to ... For example, Kim's progressed Sun at 21 Cancer trines my Moon/Mercury conjunction, and I always "feel" her as a warm, beneficent, nurturing presence ... I sometimes think that all of us here on the forum are her little chicks ... Maybe this projection is exaggerated for me because my 4th house is empty, but I suppose the challenge of Kim's very pleasant contact is for me to find my "internal trine" to nurturing 21 Cancer! ... On another note, I have always felt my solar progressions ... I got a huge burst of energy and dynamism as a progressed Aries, and found myself attracted to and attracting fiery types ... But now that I've progressed into Taurus, I am suddenly interested in earthy people (and I don't seem to want to do much of anything but loll around in a meadow and eat!  ) Jamma |

This is an interesting discussion! I don't feel being 'confronted' is a negative thing at all. And yes, you can like what you see---believe me, you can LOVE what you see! (and that too is confronting) It's important to let go of value judgements in the 'words'...confront, face, meet head on, pay attention to, respond...these are all potentially creative verbs, the results of a natal placement coinciding with a progression! After reading this thought-provoking discussion, I did some progression-natal chart comparisons to see what came up, and was stunned when I saw that the current progressions for the man I recently wrote about have some placements that are virtually identifical to our *composite* chart.
Kim, you know the chart with Uranus & Regulus right on the Ascendant? Well, the guy's progression has the exact same thing, as well as the following things in common with the composite: Pluto in the 1st house opposing a 7th-house Chiron, and a Venus-Neptune opposition similarly placed (9th-3rd, straddling the MC/IC).
So, it would seem that he would experience our relationship as somehow activating his own purpose at this time? The similarity seems shockingly symmetrical. In general, how would you interpret a composite vibing so powerfully with a person progression?
The wild patterns that emerge astrologically never cease to amaze me...

It is amazing! And again, synchronistic.
Yes, I would say that he experiences the relationship as a reflection of his current 'self'--what he is becoming. Of course, that may not be a conscious assessment and it isn't alway easy or relaxing.
It can be hard work, progressing! This relationship keeps him on track, reminds him (unconsciously) of his goals and aspirations and reflects back to him something new and authentic. Sometimes, it probably feels like a tremendous challenge to him, yet a certain 'rightness' prevails.
We attract into our lives bits of our astrological currency! Your relationship together is a major gold-mine for him!

Dear all, I just read through these interesting thoughts, and now looked at my partner and me, and am completely stunned about what i found, just wanted to share this with you: - his progressed Vertex exactly conjuncts my natal Vertex at 17' capricorn - his progressed AC exactly conjuncts my natal AC at 23' leo - his progressed Venus conjuncts my natal Sun with 3° - his progressed Sun conjuncts my natal Venus with 3° - my progressed Vertex conjuncts his natal NN with 2° - my progressed Moon exactly conjuncts his natal Sun at 15' pisces Since we got to know each other not that long ago, it is still actual. I can hardly trust my eyes! I didn't look further, this is just what jumped to my eyes. So now what about "coincidence"?!  Greetings, Claudia |

it is absolutely astounding, what things come to surface that you always considered as lucky coincidences. I'm still on checking out the important relations that I had in life. Actually I haven't been interested in progressions before (maybe because they seemed to me a bit as artificial), but now I simply can't ignore it anymore.
What are your experiences in this area?

Don't forget to look at transits to the progressed chart (both natal and composite) for a specific date and time something "happened."
The transits to the progressed natals and progressed composite of the last day and time I saw "C" show Eros tightly squaring Psyche and Sun tightly aspecting Neptune in his progressed, my progressed AND the progressed composite.
It has helped me realize that maybe this wasn't all just in me!
It IS fascinating. You can also check progressions with children's births, friends, etc.
