Everyone take note—the occultation of Venus across the Sun in 17 degrees of Gemini is June 8th. This is a unique occurrence, happening only once every 8 years, and much rarer when in the same degree and declination (as this one is). “Transits of Venus across the disk of the Sun are among the rarest of planetary alignments. Indeed, only six such events have occurred since the invention of the telescope - in 1631, 1639, 1761, 1769, 1874 and 1882”<br> For more astronomical information see this news brief- web.mid-day.com/news/city/2004/april/81725.htmFor more astrological information, read Mary Plumbs article at the Mt. Astrologer site: www.mountainastrologer.com/planettracks/tracks.htmland Roderick Kidsto’s article in the WellSpring Astrolog 2004 www.astrolog.com.au/pages/astrolog2004_venusreturnofthegoddess.htmThose with personal planets or points within orb may want to comment on what they feel this might indicate. I have Mercury in 18 degrees 35 Gemini. I know that the usual transit of Venus to Mercury often brings affectionate communication, social gatherings, shopping (shopping!) and all things associated with the powers of attraction (Venus) and the powers of consciousness (Mercury). It is certainly good for writing (romance writing?) financial discussions, music and fine dining with special others. The Sun over Mercury often brings clarity of thought, sudden bursts of intellectual ideas, strength and optimism in consciousness. You generally get a lot of phone calls! Put the two together and this slow transit of Venus across the Sun conjunct natal Mercury (in the tenth house) could bring good news regarding publication, social invitations that have long term impact, and a generally busy, activated, fun time. I guess I have to wait until June 8th to find out! Warmly, Kim

We seem to be discussing this topic on the "Asteroid Board" now, with the trine from 16 Psyche and the sextile from 433 Eros taking part. Check out those messages for more on the upcoming June 8th Venus occultation! Warmly, Kim

Hi Kim,
So sorry I posted the Eros-Psyche stuff on the wrong board-- I think I chose Asteroids cause it was re: Eros and Psyche's involvement.
On that thread I said I was curious to see what would happen when Mars hit 26 Gem, just to see if any seed event would be triggered or auger what's to come somehow. . .
Well, Saturday was a quiet day, Mars hit 26. . . . .
I did get an AMAZING haircut. I mean I haven't had a haircut like this since I was 17 where I felt so amazing afterwards!!!
Mars can represent cuts!! And it was opposite my Venus at 26 Sag. . . .
That's it for seed events in my personal life!!
My natal Neptune is at 16 Sag. . . so. . . the occultation is happening opposite it. . . I always seem to have dreamy, cuspy experiences when my Neptune gets activated by Venus. . . I have noticed a trend where I always seem to have a run-in with a certain man when Venus activates my Nep. . .
His natal Sun is square my Nep within one degree ( 15 Pisces) and so, heh heh, I do look forward to seeing what the effects will be on him with the Venus square so close to his sensitive PIsces Sun ( from his first house-- he had Gemini Rising)
Last time we seriously deeply connected, Venus was conjunct my Neptune and so square his Sun. It just occurred to me that last time we spoke a week and a half or so ago, he asked if there was anything in the stars suggesting an increased sense of yearning. . . and Venus was square his Sun that day!
The talk we had that day was. . . deeper than any we'd had in ages. . . and we intend to follow it up. . . soon, although we seem to be lost in time right now. . .
I'm sort of stunned that the conversation fell so close to when Venus was at her occultation degree. . . I remember noticing that Venus was once again triggering us both. . . .but I didn't see the occultation connection! Well, it is about a degree and a half off from the exact degree. . .but still. . . .
I've often wondered what my Neptune squaring his Sun would feel like. . .for him. . .he idealizes me but is very aware of that. . .we know when we are being silly about our true identities with each other. . .we are always our dreamselves when we talk to each other, & take some weird joy from keeping our connection devoid of any interference from day to day drudge. . . I mean, we even tried to prove to each other that we weren;t fantasists by going over all of our personal issues & talking about daily life, but once that was done and acknowledged it didn't even make a dent in our long dreamy musing talks. . .We've been friends seven years now and this remains the same. Of course we rarely get together anymore because of drudgy life stuff. . . . and the conversation we are about to have is about MORE drudgy life stuff: i.e. how not to let that stuff force us out of touch altogether. . .& to maybe make room for a real-er friendship amongst the daily grind. . .we always wait until there is ZERO outside distraction to talk. . .that hardly ever happens. . .and every year it gets harder. . so. . .before one of us gets married or has kids we have to decide what kind of friends we are. . . .or want to aim to be. We have a boatload of other aspects that trigger other aspects of our relationship, but this particular facet. . .interesting that it got brought up now with my Neptune & his Sun being under Venus's activation. . .
Yeah. . . Okay so maybe this upcoming eclipse will really shed light on that issue!!! Nice!!
& the great haircut is nice too!!
Looking forward to more thought spirals on this subject, Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, I am delighted to hear about the great “cut” with Mars opp Venus! And yes, I imagine this upcoming occultation will activate, brighten, enlighten and transform your relationship. I suspect you will see it more clearly (Sun) although technically, it is the Sun being “occulted” (hidden). I wonder if it is really Venus who will have her day, irrespective of more solar desires or obligations. Let us know! I am certainly speculating about the event on my 10th house Mercury! How’d everyone go with the eclipse? Anyone with planets or points between 10 and 18 degrees or so of Taurus/Scorpio would have been the most receptive. Warmly, Kim

hi, concerning yesterday's eclipse: (and jupiter going direct) i had a great energy charged day strangely enough. probably seems mundane in words but, found a dollar on the street when getting coffee at 6am won a "name my puppy contest" that a blogger friend of mine was having. silly i know; but i was So Pleased. got an email from a lawyer concerning a contract i had a meeting for exactly one year ago! got a call from someone else i met at that same meeting one year ago and did a phone interview concerning someone from my past. sold my car this morning; we are in the process of relocating to france and i was worried i wouldn't have time to sell it as i left it for the last moment. but more than all this, it just seems that the energy has somehow shifted; the last year has felt like slogging through the mud. yesterday seemed to give me a jolt of enthusiasm coupled with optimism. points possibly triggered:
2nd house mars 16taurus 8th house jupiter 22scorpio siva15scorpio photo17scorpio urania18scorpio 5th house uranus15leo 12th house chiron19aquarius
(i know some of these orbs are kinda wide but the natal opposition square seems operative)
having sun in 2cap conjunc midheaven29sag conjunct saturn 28sag enthusiasm is not my normal state; )
any idea how those asteroids in the eighth house might be interpreted?

hi again, also noting that the transiting jupiter going direct point 8 virgo = midpoint pluto/part of fortune virgo (6th house) trine midpoint mc sag29.35/venus cap12.53 (10th house) sun also 2cap. this is using an almost zero orb. interesting. anyone else feel/notice anything from jupiter going direct?

Hi Gracie,
I think those events do describe the energy boost you can feel with Jupiter going direct within orb of a trine to your Sun. I can’t see the whole picture, but that is what jumps out for me. The Lunar eclipse was on your Natal Mars/Jupiter (and asteroids), triggering the grand cross. I wouldn’t normally attribute that kind of configuration to a feeling of optimism and enthusiasm. It may have awakened your Jupiter strongly though, and given you a receptivity to the Jupiter transit going direct. The sun is a fair ways away, but really, within 10 degrees or more can often be felt.
Those asteroids in the eighth house augment or add to the strong Jupiter there. All matters of the 8th are areas of life where the asteroids (and Jupiter) may play out. They add subtle symbolic meaning to your orientation to shared resources, joint finances, legal matters, approach to death and of course, erotic intimacy.
Urania relates to Astrology and a broad view of the cosmos. Siva is about break down and regeneration, Photo speaks for itself! I see this as many possible expressions, from “past life astrology” to the study of quantum physics. Research is implied—a deep a probing exploration that unearths new meaning.
Has anyone else notice Jupiter’s turn around?
I know I feel more buoyant!
Warmly, Kim

I have just drawn up the draconic chart for the Venus Occultation. The event occurs at 7 degrees of Taurus 20’, placing Venus’s (draco) planetary North Node very close to the transiting Lunar North Node. Draconic charts, used by ancient Babylonians, start the zodiac at the Lunar North Node. Whatever your node is, it becomes, in the Draco system, 0 degrees of Aries. The chart patters between the two systems (Draco and tropical) will be identical (aspect relationships don't change), yet planets, points and cusps will fall in different signs, and new relationships may be discovered. If a planet is currently at 17 Gemini (or 37 degrees or so ahead of the current transiting Lunar Node), it will make relationship with any planet or point that is also 37 degrees ahead of 0 degrees of Aries. Thus currently, 17 Gemini in the tropical system “conjuncts” 7 degrees of Taurus in the Draco system. It is another way of looking at this unique transit. If anyone has personal planets, angels or points at 7 Taurus, this occultation could have greater meaning. For more about the Draconic System, check these articles by Patrizia Trotta www.kepler.edu/articles/astrology/trotta.htmlwww.jornal-astrologia.com/article_trotta1.htmDennis Elewell touches on this topic in his book, The Cosmic Loom. And here is an article from Pamela Rowe—<br>http://www.astrologycosmobiology.com.au/draconic_chart.html These links and books will wet the appetite for those interested in studying Draconic astrology further. I am interested in these Draco conjunctions to natal and composite charts. Does anyone have the hot spot of 7 degrees Taurus? Warm wishes, Kim

Today is the day! Remember, don't look directly at the Sun! View this event safely on Web Cam here: http.earthcache.net/www.exploratorium.edu/venusEC/index.htmlTake a moment out today to tune into Venus aspects of harmony, unity, and peace. Let's all consider how we value and share our resources! Let's all honor both the masculine and feminine aspects of ourselves and each other--energy just as it is--without judgment. Blessings! Kim

I had a brilliant day, with the transit exact on my Mercury in the 10th house! (see post in the Synastry/Composite forum)
I ran into old flames, heard from an editor who hadn’t responded for ages and felt incredibly vital.
Is anyone else experiencing something remarkable with this transit?
Let us know! Kim

Dear All,
One year is completed since venus transit the Sun on June 8 2004 at 18 deg Gemini.
Kim wrote:

The writing part has happened to many including myself. I My entry into forum and also otherwise I am involved in writing. Many of my collegues are also busy writing on one or other important things.
Regarding social inviations, I have a different opinion. The second half of 2004 was scandalous by and large in my observaiton. There was so much of gossip concerning men women relationships. Women were scared of talking to men, in general. I enquired with many of acquiances in a gentle way. Everyone said "so much is heard of illicit relationships of late. Never like this in life". In addition, top buerocrats faced relationship crisis concerning women in their life. It was illicit, a couple of them were jailed and the rest were facing trail.
I think the transit contact among eros, psyche and lilith dominated the theme.
Any observations folks ?

Hi Kris,
Thank you for highlighting the “return” of last years occultation of Venus! Very astute. I’ve been so busy I’ve hardly thought of it and when I get to the forum, my time’s been to short to bring it up.
I’m grateful that you did!
I still think that “social stimulation” has been part of the mix and some people do find gossip and clandestine affairs “fun” though I can see, in retrospect, my writing was a bit frivolous. I find the time of Gemini that way…fun and not too serous.
Yet the energies that coincide with the occultation are very important and no to be brushed off light-handedly.
I’ve had so much change this year, I can’t begin to sift through it all though I’ve had so very good successes publishing wise and more prospects for the future. Socially, I’ve been much more contained and seem more intolerant of the “frivolous” and gossipy nature when I encounter it. Mostly, I’ve been studying like a madwoman—returned to university.
Any one else like to reflect on the past year? Think about where Gemini resides in your natal chart and how the occultation might have stimulated these aspects of your life.
Warmly, Kim

Dear Kris, Kim, everyone.. I too understand that MY own writing before that transit was much "better" more in depth and then I stopped writing articals for someone's web page rather suddenly due to the fact that there may have been some mistaken "romantic" implications due to the fact I kept having some "telepathic" experiences which the other person regognized from his own life.. events and such.. that in itself was not THAT interesting since I found out that these things do happen and there was nothing really to be afraid of, but the other person who helped me out and was very kind to me closed off from me because I could see events occuring in his life without even knowing that it was from his... the transit occured in my 12th house... and so I continue as usual to have a mulititude of strange dreams.. (that hasn't change). aside from that.. I've been rather isolated in a way this last year, I haven't been very social, but content to be more introspective.. and music has played a large part, as well as new friendships due to music and astrology and art .. but most of the friendships I had previously, they simply branched out to people who were friends of theirs and became mutual friends. All really exicting to think about that.. and how quiet yet powerful it all has been. Thank you for bringing this up! take care, svenskasfinx

This is so interesting. Thanks, Kris, for bringing this up.
The degree of 18 Gemini is pretty much on the Moon/Sun conjunction of C and me, and we know what Venus has done there! It hits in my 8th house, and I have written volumes this year. I, too, am a little surprised by how much I have shared on this forum! I've done a lot of "creative" writing versus professional writing. I haven't written anything having to do with my job this year, which is pretty unusual.
This transit was through my husband's 12th house, so I had a chance to observe what that might mean. Socially, other than his job, he's played it very close to home, which is his normal modus operendi anyway, but this year he has been much happier, probably because I am finally well.
It also made me realize that this transit not only was through C's 12th house, but in synastry, my Venus, Sappho and Sun are all in his 12th house. So he had a double dose of Venus in that 12th house!!!
Blessings, Amoroso
