Been adding more asteroids to my chart ... my goal is to find the ones with greatest impact, so I'm looking for tight conjunctions ... Turns out Circe is conjunct Pluto at 11 Leo on the cusp of my 8th house ... I was thinking this could mean I was Mata Hari in a past life, but the only reference I've found just says I share this combo with Elizabeth Taylor, Lily Tomlin, Cat Stevens and Lawrence Welk (wunnerful, wunnerful) ... Pluto/Circe are also in opposition to 1181 Lilith at 14 Aquarius, but the orb isn't so tight ... Any insights?

Good Morning Jamma! Circe is an interesting one. Here is what I wrote about her when she was conjunct Eros. (I think her association with Pluto would make the energy deeply unconscious and tied up with issues of power, control, death and rebirth.--that fact that she is a witch and in your 8th house suggest that studying the arcane might awaken something very potent in you. 34 Circe, pronounce "KIR-kee, is a "C" class "main belt asteroid (orbiting between Mars and Jupiter).Circe was discovered on April 6, 1855 by J. Chacornac of Paris. It takes approximately nine years for her to complete a return. Circe was an enchantress, a Witch of great power. The daughter of Helios (the Sun-consciousness) and Perse (the daughter of Okeanos-unconscious waters), she is celebrated for her knowledge of magic and the use of herbs to heal and to transform. Circe lived on a beautiful island, Aiaia ,where she waited for lost sailors to come to her for help. Sometimes she helped them, and sometimes she gave them drugs before serving THEM for dinner! Remember what happened to Glaucus when he asked Circe for a love potion to turn Scylla's head? Circe fell for Glaucus and he rejected her. In a fit of jealousy she poisoned Scylla's bathing pool. When Scylla waded into the water, the submerged half of her body was transformed into a combination of fish joined with six ferocious dogs' heads sprouting from around her waist. The dogs attacked and devoured anyone who came near and Scylla fled to a distant shore to live there alone, forever. Glaucus was mortified and fled both women! Circe did experience love and erotic transformation with Odysseus, at least for a time. When Odysseus and his crew stumbled onto her island they quickly searched for food and water. They found Circe instead! As the men walked from the beach, they could hear sweet singing from Circe’s home in a forest glen. Wild animals came, wagging their tails, to greet the strangers. The men were charmed by her beauty and drank the potions she offered. As Circe’s drugs took effect, the men transformed into pigs. Circe herded them into pens and threw food on the ground before them. The sole survivor, Eurylochos, escaped back to Odysseus and urged that they set sail immediately. He described the beautiful Circe and the awful things she did. Odysseus would not leave and went to Circe’s home alone. Along the way, Odysseus met Hermes in the guise of a young man. This "young man" gave Odysseus a plant called ‘moly’ saying that it would "protect" him from the witch's potions. Circe welcomed him as another victim and gave him her drugs but the Moly negated the effects. When Circe thought the drugs were working, she struck Odysseus with her wand. Odysseus drew his sword and sprang upon her and the astonished Circe surrendered. She released the twenty two pig-men and ceremoniously anointed them with another one of her potions. The men were restored to their original forms but they were taller and more handsome than before they had been "enswined". After that, Odysseus stayed on the island of Aiaia for quite some time in the sweet and sensual embrace of Circe. They were lovers for years--long enough for Circe to have at least two children, Agrios and Latinos. (Theogony, 1010). Circe has a rather strange relationship to love. She certainly likes to be in 'control' with her potions and her annihilation/mutilation of rivals. Her love spells were irresistible, however. In the 8th, she is awakened by Eros! With Pluto she comes with power 1000 fold! Comments? Has anyone something to add? My Circe is in the 8th trine Pluto on the Ascendant! Kim

Hi Kim, Thanks for the wonderful wealth of information! ... Wow, it's a lot to assimilate -- but very empowering ... (glad to know we are "sister-witches"! ... ) ... I've always been a little afraid of my dark side, but at this stage of life, I guess it's safe to embrace the inner sorceress (great timing with Jupiter in Scorpio, too!) ... btw, my Hecate is conjunct Thalia (my favorite muse, queen of comedy) at 8 Cancer conjunct my descendant, so I've got some voodoo power in the 7th, too ... Back to Circe: I don't think I've ever been exactly irresistible, but long ago I did have one guy say he didn't want to go on seeing me because (he claimed) he was afraid I could make him do anything I wanted ... Have no idea what he meant because we only had a couple of dates (what? ... I had the power to make him eat salad??) ... Thanks again and cheers, J P.S. Any other closet witches out there?

Hi Jamma,
It is always amazing to discover one's "Magic" powers. You just step back and say "did that come through me?"
In the past year I've had three young men tell me I was "magic"--in the context of their private music lessons. In 25 years of teaching, this is a first! Interesting that the men use this word, but women take it more for granted. Like there IS magic and you just have to find it, or let it find you. Anyway, this is all new to me, too. Ot at least new in any conscious way.
Did you see the thread on "Lust/Circe" in synastry? We went into more depth there. Your comment on witches reminded me of Kim's comments on a post I made about my sister-in-law.
Blessings, Amoroso

Hmmmm, that could explain a lot to me. I have Circe at 18.30 Sag in the 2nd house right next to Moon (26.49 Sag) & Eros (27.54). Interestingly enough, my guy has Eros in the 8th at 24.21 Gemini, so he must be setting off my Circe in addition to the Moon & my Eros. His Vertex at 16.18 Gemini is almost exactly opposite my Circe. I'm definitely going to have to do some more reading on Circe now. Kim, you are a wealth of knowledge. I have learned so much from this forum. Thank you!!!

I'm glad everyone is acknowledging the Circe in them!
Jamma, your writing has a wonderful, humorous edge. I was going to mention on another thread (North Node in Gemini in the 5th) that you might consider writing comedy. Was it Alan Alda (in a Woody Allen film) that said, "Comedy is tragedy plus time". Terrible things aren't funny when they happen, but later, out of context....they are! What better inspiration for that than Hacate and Thalia opposite the Ascendent?

Dear co-witches ;D, the Circe subject seems very interesting, I just read this thread and checked mine...just to add my two cents, I also noticed that guys who seriously fell with me once, they will always return, even after years, not for renewing the relationship, but just to stay close or connected somehow. They remain faithful to me on another level of relation. And my Circe also trines my Pluto! Wow! It also conjuncts Moon and Mars. (and conjuncts my partner's Venus ;D ) Greetings, Claudia

Hi Claudia,
That's an interesting tie to the Moon and Mars...and the synastry Venus! It makes it difficult to sort out transits to Circe though, when so many other planets are activated. What sign? House?

Circe for me, conjunct Mercury (and Isis) in the 12th in Gemini... I get the feeling, its about music...(magical as it seems) trined Eros/Ceres..in Libra in my 5th house... sextile Vesta/Saturn/Eurtrope in Aries in my 11th house.. (there is the easy way out of my "opposition" energy) I do think I express Circe via singing, or music... uniting her various talents with Mercury and Isis. The Isis myth seems to be a very strong one.. and it transends Egyptian culture because her cults spread into Rome and Greece in ancient times.. and I like the symbol of the things she represents.. as for the case of Osiris and putting him back together again. Thinking deeply about that I was mildly surprised when I found out my own Osiris conjuncts Dionysis in Taurus in the 11th house at 13 degrees..exactly (there are also TWO people who have their name asteroid conjunct that area as well by less than a degree "Peter" and "Johannes" (closest thing to my husband's name).... anyway I'm going on too much.. must be on my way, Sfinxen

my circe is an exact conjuction to my descendant. i'm wondering how to interpret that one? i always thought halloween was my favorite holiday but i thought that was due to the fact my birthday is the day after and i would celebrate it on halloween. also my circe conjucts my ex's draconic sun and our draconic composite and davison sun, wondering what this all means? any comments would be greatly appreciated!

I've got Circe Conj. my IC in Scorpio.
She's trine my Natal Mercury in Pisces in the 7th and Karma/Pholus conj on the 7th/8th cusp. She semisextiles my Neptune/Vertex conj. in Sag. on the 4th/5th cusp and Pluto in Libra in the 3rd.
