It was on here a while back about Photographica being over the visual arts and I wanted to know if there were more asteroids that any of you know of that aid with the visual arts as well? I am very interested in photography. Photographica is nataly placed in my 6th house Pisces, conjunct Jupiter Rx (also in 6th) and trined to Venus 2nd house Scorpio, Squared with Chiron in the 9th Gemini then squared with Uranus in the 3rd house Sagittarius. I would really like to know if there were more asteroids in with this too since there are many asteroid that accompany different kinds of love . Also, can Photographica tell what kind of pictures the person likes to take? Thanks! Cat

HI Cat,
Maybe the house and sign placement of Photographica would reveal the genre! Conjunct Jupiter, I would say 'large', if nothing else! Think about the sign placement and see if you can come up with any links to style or taste.
To find more visual arts asteroids, go to astro.com (astrodeinst) and open up the asteroid file. Then, on your browser, click 'edit' then 'find on this page' and start typing words that you associate with the arts, or artists themselves....maybe you can start a list here and others will contribute?
Thanks for bring this topic up!
Warmly, Kim

I would like to travel and take pictures of places (that probably where the 9th comes in at) but the Chiron part baffles me. I could see myself taking pictures of people how are suffering overseas to get people to understand just what other people have to go through and contend with on a daily basis. Would that be what the Chiron square would be about?
As for the Uranus square, I think of it as an attraction to the hobby since squares aid in appeal (or so I believe) sometimes. I have often wanted to be a photographer as a living and seeing that Photographica is trined to Venus in a money house, maybe I might get enough money to get by. The squares could also be a "pusher" to get things on the go. I have looked at those asteroids in my chart but they sort of confuse me.

My Photographica is in 5 a few degrees from Jup/Nep/Chiron in Libra and Pallas conj I take lots of closeups of my children still tho they are grown up and like doing close portraits of people finding the beauty in them Also seacapes and trees in a Zen type way

Cat, harmonia I think is another asteroid that would fit. Uranus and Chiron both could indicate unusual approach or subject matter. Think of Chiron bridging the inner ('Sun through Saturn) with the outer (Uranus on out), the micro and macrocosm, or the known with the unknown.

Believe it or not, don't forget Neptune and even Pallas Athena! I think Neptune shows the ability to "see" that which is not there, or that which is there that others don't see.
Pallas Athena was known as the goddess of "cradtsmanship." See where she and Mr. Neptune are in your chart and draw some connections.
We get so excited about asteroids on this forum that we tend to forget the alrger picture sometimes--I know I do!
Blessings, Amoroso

How neat! Is your Pallas also in Libra? Mine is sitting on the Sun! (12h Libra, 0 deg Sun, 0 deg Pallas both conj. ASC, obviously they both would be ) Cat, harmonia I think is another asteroid that would fit. Uranus and Chiron both could indicate unusual approach or subject matter. Think of Chiron bridging the inner ('Sun through Saturn) with the outer (Uranus on out), the micro and macrocosm, or the known with the unknown. I have Harmonia in the 3rd house conj. with Saturn (in Sag) by 1 deg orb. It sextile ASC and opposes moon. 3rd house being communication, and Saturn living in those quarters, does this mean my talk about my work would be Saturnesque? If I knew I could make enough to get by, I would take it more seriously than just a hobby. Maybe that's what the influence is? What does Harmonia rule in general? Believe it or not, don't forget Neptune and even Pallas Athena! I think Neptune shows the ability to "see" that which is not there, or that which is there that others don't see. It squares the Sun, Asc, and Pallas. Maybe this is why I'm so attracted to do it?

Cat, yes all all planets Nep Chiron Pallas and Photo we are talking about are in Libra in 5th but Jupiter is end of Virgo ----- probably why my kids all do arts jobs and one also works in a fish cafe [Neptune?] Neptune of course is nearly always a feature in the substance using profile when the person has not found a natural way to 'see what is not there....' but that is a whole other subject..... Uranus/Aq artists always want to use the most unusual new electrical and impersonal methods to produce their work and show it in the old factory - tho I am sure there are exceptions And the Saturn types want to do Old Masters and very traditional methods and to show their work in an accepted gallery

I heard a while back about Cancers and Sags and how they enjoy photography. If this happens to be true, should I look at those signs in my chart even though this is a generalization and could fit with anyone?

Hi Cat, I think that is a bit general. All the signs express creativity in different ways (certainly Cancer and Sag do!) and all the signs are brimming with creative forces of a particular kinds. I think it can get confusing if you deconstruct the chart too much. The thing is, if photography inspires you, go for it. INTENSION is important here and staying focused on and working towards a goal is like 'gathering up' all those innate creative forces (symbolized through the planets and asteroids) and moving forward with them in imaginative ways. You can have all the artistic indications in the world, chart wise, but without the 'intension' nothing may come of it. So go gathering and trust that you have everything it takes to fulfil your dreams. (I think this message was brought to you by Neptune and the 9 Muses!) Kim

Sorry to get in on this thread so late, I'm the one who should have made a point to mention a few key things to look for, not just asteroids, but signs, planets and Houses- Look to the ruler of the 5th house, planets, points and asteroids in or relating to the 5th or 11th houses as a general rule (not the only way to look) since most of the "traditional" astrologers will somehow always look to the 5th to see if someone is "creative".. Then we also look to the more watery houses and watery signs, as emotional expression can be converted into "creative energy" however ALL the signs and houses have different ways of expressing art, as in Visual arts in their energies, and styles.. Visual arts can be performance art, so then there are the 9 Muses to look to, and their placement..but then again there is Sappho (otherwise known as the 10th Muse).. Look also to the Names of artists and find out where they are in relation to your personal points, I found it a huge surprise that "Dali"(named after Salvador Dali) is exactly conjunct my "Urania" (muse of astrology, future seeing, the heavens, philosophy and astronomy) only 3 degrees from my ASC, in the first house.. Other people note that varioius Asteroids such as Michelangelo (named after the painter) illustrates the strength and method in expressing the creative..(some people I know who are visually accute but verbaly creative have Michelangelo in Pisces and both earn their livings from WORDS but admire and have a skill of understanding just what it takes to make a good composition and can communicate that, and yet they do not work in visual arts) I've only given a few examples, some asteroids not mentioned- Abstractia and reading up on the naming of it and the meaning of the name, it is not only about the "Abstract" but also gaining a grasp of the abstract.. in my chart Abstractia is at 29 degrees Leo (in a wide conjunction to Photographia at 25 degrees Leo) it is conjunct the asteroid representing the muse 33 Polyhymnia (at 0 degrees Virgo) as well as that being the exact degree of my Part of Fortune. All are in my third house.. The Muses play a major roll- (the link to what's been said about the muses earlier) erosastrology.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=asteroid&action=display&thread=1102981279But then Apollo as the hiarchy to the creative structure is also something to consider--Like the "second sun" its asteroid placement is a concentraited form of the essence of what we get from the expression of the "Sun" all the self-ness, and the self expression- much like a small focal point of a magnifying glass.. A link to what we said earlier about Apollo- (I'm considering an update after a few discussions in April this last year privately) erosastrology.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=asteroid&action=display&thread=1101736621More later, when I get the chance. Take care, Svenskasfinx
