Forgive me if this has been discussed previously (I did a search and I didn't find any threads that specifically dealt with this subject)... I just read an article by astrologer Eric Francis and he mentions "the Great Attractor", which is at about 14 degrees of Sag... I'm finding lots of astronomical information about the Great attractor, but not a lot of astrological information... It seems to be quite a potent degree, similar to the Galactic Core... Here's a brief blurb on it: More can be found here: ericfrancis.com/sagittarius/sagittarius10.htmlDoes anyone have any other information or insight to share about this point...or planets or angles at or around this degree?! My vertex is at 15 Sag. in my 5th directly opposite my Mars at 15 Gemini in the 11th... Curiosity strikes deep!

I just recently learned this too but it seems to be true. I dont have a planet there or an angle, but my 5th cusp is 13Sag38. The asteroid site shows the Great Attractor at 13Sag19'42". I have attracted 7 sons and never fail to attract my lover. I would like to think I have at least some effect on others with the love I give but I don't think so a lot of the time. I've also read this degree is the degree of retribution.
I have Chiron in a 7th harmonic aspect to this degree, ie Chiron is 14 Sag in the 7th harmonic chart. This is creative inspiration or creation through the imagination. That sounds sort of like God saying let there be light, and there was, and he saw that it was good. But with me, when my creations grow up that I brought into being through partnership they turn on me. They don't want to relate to me as an equal, they want to be my little boy or nothing at all.
7th harmonic Chiron is trine Vtx, Mercury and Eq in that chart, which is also my natal ascendant. In fact, in this chart this group is the apex of a hung t-square with Sun opposite Moon at critical 21 scorpio, then Chiron-Mercury is also trine Venus in Aries.
The Sabien here is THE SPHINX AND PYRAMIDS STAND, REMAINS OF A GLORIOUS PAST and the natal asteroid Sphinx is inconjunct along with Sisyphus (the uphil climb, over and over). The following degree is THE GROUND-HOG, OUT OF ITS WINTER SLEEP, LOOKS FOR ITS SHADOW. Since our pet died we have been over run with them, thus attracting them.
It is square Taro and Diana opposing Urania, Sun and Child, with Not at 15Sag. Hephaistos is opposite with Eruydike who is Orpheus' lost love. He's also in the 5th, probably morning the fact that his woman is with another man.
I think its important to note that this degree is still in the human half of Sag, not focused on animal instinct., but about to make the transition requiring integration only a degree away.

Luna
I wish I could say I have more information to offer. I read Eric's article a year ago and have been looking desperately for more. I have found nothing. I posted the following on another sites:
I have been interested in work on this spot because of the odd common occurrence of Sag 13/14 in my chart/my children/and Doc's and what it does in the charts.
My Ascendant Sag 13, 21
My Son's Sun 14 Sag/ Vertex at Sag 14/ Vesta at Sag 13
My Daughter's Venus Sag 13,19
Doc's Vertex Sag 13, 13
From Eric Francis' site:
"People born with the Sun, Moon, ascendant or another important planet close to, or aspecting, this point will often find that they have a polarizing effect on people around them, making unusually close friends and intense enemies as well. They can give the impression that they hold the key to the mystery of the universe, correctly or not.
"The perception is that people on the Great Attractor have unusual appeal or potency. They find themselves in vast circles, accidentally. Or they have impacted masses of people and think they have created no influence in their lives whatsoever," he said.
He added that it's often prominent in the charts of people who feel as if they are in some way alien from the rest of the human race, even literally. Elian Gonzolez, for example, was born Dec. 5 and his Sun is right there. As Pluto went over the degree recently, the house where he lived in Miami was turned into a museum, and in that city he's held with the reverence of the baby Jesus. Mohammed Atta, the pilot who flew Flight 11 into the World Trade Center, was detained in Miami at the same time on immigration charges, and was then released.
"But in addition, these are people who feel alienated and yet they bring in different levels of consciousness, and this is why," Sedgwick said. Among its more noteworthy subjects is Walt Disney. In the astrological community, one of its most prominent spokesmen, Rob Hand, is born with the Sun conjunct this point as well.
If you know your chart, check for planets in the middle degrees of any sign, but principally a fire sign or a mutable sign, to see whether you have a major aspect to the Great Attractor.
What all four of us have in common (ages 9-46) is intensity, being very private with very small numbers of intimate friends despite situations that have placed all four of us into some sort of spotlight.
The bizarre frosting on the cake is that the spot in each chart 13/14 Sag forms a perfect fire trine in all four person's natal chart (taking liberties assigning not just planets but angles and major asteroids)...
For me the Sag GA/Ascendant forms a fire trine with my Leo Uranus and Aries Moon. For my daughter a fire trine with her Leo Moon, Aries Juno and Sag Venus/GA. For my son a fire trine with his Sag Sun/GA, Chiron Leo and MC Aries, and finally for Doc a Sag GA/Vertex with his Leo Uranus and his Aries MC. Weird.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for this thread, Lunariviera, and may it be that this year and always all your good dreams come true!
My ASC is 16 Sag 23 (cardinal fire)
so GA cj my ASC trines my fixed fire natal Pluto at 14 Leo
and is 150 degrees from my fixed Earth Taurus Sun at 16 Taurus
and squares my Part of Fortune (mutable Earth) at 13 Virgo
*not to mention* transiting Jupiter Direct at 13 degrees Scorpio
and transiting Uranus at 14 degrees Pisces...
hmmm, I feel happy; I'm gardening, I have a day off,
and I believe the eggplants I've been
baby-ing here in the Pacific northwest may have -- against all odds --
developed flowers that will become the aubergine.
Nature's "auber-genius!"
(i.e., it's not ME at all, it's the force flowing through the universe
that with patience and hope brings peace to the animals and people
of this beautiful planet Earth).
Wow - blueorchid - thanks for the insight into GA through you and your family's charts! I am facing imminent 2nd Saturn return \\soon after transiting Saturn conjuncts my natal Pluto in Leo --
and carries on to cj natal Saturn at 29 Leo! New structure, new ideas, new creativity to find new solutions for this "Planet Stuck" as Eric Francis said!
Peace, Taurusbirthday

You know guys. I was thinking about this spot last night. I wonder if that GA does attract but the recipient acts oddly independent of it. Everyone I know with close angle or planet contact seems to have privacy (secrecy--get away from me you're overwhelming) issues yet attract the outside to them.
I have to dig further. I suddenly have the urge to check Howard Hughes. The thing about the little boy Gonzalez is he literally got shoved into the spotlight. And has since receded. Forces were attracted to him. And sides battled over him and his very being, his symbolism.
And oh AQuE--I have read the same thing that the GA is actually 13/19 not 14. And when I did the asteroid charts saw the same thing--yeah that puts it right at my Ascendant. My Sun actually has his SUN/VERTEX/NN conjunct and a Saturn 7th house.

Thanks!
Hmmm....my POF is located at Sag 13'01 and close to the day I met my love, tr Pluto was retro at Sag 12' 32!! Even weirder, his POF is 15 Gem...it opposes mine and was being transited by Pluto as well (obviously-tr Pluto was opposing his POF). My name asteroid is Sag 15 and Adonis is at 11 Sag. A nice little stellium of sorts at the cusp between 1st and 2nd house.
My natal Mars opposes this at 16 Gem so I wonder how that energy works. If I wanted to count the POF, it would be part of a T-square with Pluto and Uranus at VIR 15. Attention and attraction has always been a part of my life....lots of energy there. Usually I ignore it yet DO feel that it is a lucky place to have my POF!!
Hugs- GemStar

Okay this GA thing has been making my head zoom. I just looked up Mr. Hughes. Very interesting he does indeed have Great Attractor Aspects. His Mercury and Venus are both in 4th Sag. The Mercury is 15/02. The Venus Sag is wide out to 20. But with that Mercury as communication in house 4 truly fascinating given his severe recluse/privacy at home issues MEETS FAME!!! Next I looked up JD Salinger, famous Catcher in Rye author now New Hampshire recluse.Jan 1, 1919 in NYC. I don't have a time but guess what? North Node sits at Sag 12/57 and Mercury in Sag 18. Here a fabulously juicy piece on Mr. Salinger --note the comment by his daughter that he loves to travel and visit firends ( bon vivant) but detests the publicity around him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._D._Salinger

Hi Blue...
I've seen Eric's articles on the Great Attractor too... but for some reason always zone out a bit about this... now I know why... my Mars is at 16 Sag... Rx in my seventh house.. recently I've been doing a bit of work on my mars - due to the man-in-orbit with his mars conjunct mine at 15 Sag (first house)... its intense thats for sure. I can relate to the bit about polarising people - haven't ever been able to come to terms with why others seem to dislike me so very much! Especially as I'm a very gentle and Venus-y type...a lot of the time... Well, the man-with-mars certainly has made me realise things about myself - and I can certainly detect that magnetism in him that this GA is supposed to endow... on our first date the girl at the next table - also on a date - attempted to pick him up!
joy! pm

Dear PM,
It sounds like you have a hot one! And it prompted me to add to this thread before I take off.
My Pars Fortunae is at 11 Sag. I am not going to attempt to figure that out as it may relate to the GA, but C's Adonis is a 14 Sag and Eros at 17 Sag. (Neptune at 19 Sag)
Every time he sang in public, every time we went out to lunch, he turned heads, made people sit up and literally pant, men AND women, women fell over themselves to get his attention. Honesty at one resteraunt a group of 20-somethings wrenched their necks as we walked in.
And he seems to be totally oblious to it all....
Love, Amoroso

Please excuse my lack of spelling correctly. Thinking about C makes it impossiblle to do anything "right."

Case in point. Couldn't spell "impossible" and had to type this message four times. Or is that Mercury RX?

i have a friend with her moon on this point (i've written about her some in the vertex discussion - she's the one with her sun on my anti-vertex).
it's actually moon-neptune in saggitarius in the 1st, with sagittarius rising. and then a loaded 12th - mercury, venus & uranus in scorpio - so things about her that draw people to her can be hard to parse.
i ran across eric francis' article on this a few days before this thread took off, finding it for another reason. re my friend, what stood out to me is the idea of being able to see around things. with all the neptune/12th influence, she's certainly in tune with a lot of things that aren't hers. but i think she'll be able to see around things more and more as she continues to learn how to sort out what's hers and what isn't, which she's recently begun.
as far as drawing and polarizing people - yes yes yes. my moon's only two degrees off of hers, so about 2.5 from the GA, but i don't really think i fit what is said about the GA. maybe i do and this is a huge blindspot, who knows.

Interesting. Never heard of this before. Despite Merc/Venus/Mars all in Gemini, I've got nothing at 14Gem or thereabouts. Guess that means I have no attractive powers! LOL I've felt like a stranger in an alien land my whole life, though Sami

I too am fascinated by this and many other things that Francis brings to light. He thinks 'outside the box' My Saturn 4th H is 13 degrees 27. I always thought my polarity as far as having' good' people as well as 'formidable enemies' could most likely be attributed to my Pluto late deg. conj. ASC. in Leo. This shines a whole new flashlight on the dynamic. for I do indeed create formidable enemies. I scare the crap out of most people, on casual acquaintance or more intimate. I try hard to velvet glove myself which is stressful. Now I have to embrace this whole other aspect. It resonates with me though. Especially the recluse stuff, for I am alien to most.

Although i think it's a bit pompous and arrogant to see myself as a great influence on others (the modesty or Virgo Rising & Moon may be)... it could be true I have Uranus rx on 15°15' Sag in 4... I was of great influence on my family I make intense friends & enemies I never seem to have a neutral relation to someone. Or i'm hot for them (romantically, or friendship) or you could freeze to death if i would make the choice And boy, i do feel like an alien sometimes
