"People all over the world are joining together to bring peace to our hearts and our planet
through the prayer May Peace Prevail on Earth. This prayer for world peace carries a message of
great hope and healing. It transcends barriers of nationality, race and religion
to unite humanity in a call for the common good of all life on Earth."

I only just found this thread I have been wondering why there have not been mass peace - ins going on I don't think the Maharishi lovely as he is has the monopoly on creating peace- any good intent mass meditations would add to it - even a good happy clappy church sing song would I am sure and a beautiful recital of classical feel good music Maybe even the Stones I was letting rooms to two very nice students last year who spent all their spare hours killing people on their computers One was Chinese and the other Australian Sometimes they played against each other I wondered if that had any effect on the world It sure made me miserable and tense There are millions of a lot of young boys killing people on the net all over the world - who all peacelovers of various spiriitual and artistic and healing fields maybe have to over ride...... we ain't doing a very good job are we?Ana's post on the Maharishi thread prompted me to start another thread. Having spent a great deal of time in thought about the concept of influencing mass consciousness positively through different methods, I find myself constantly in search of data and experiences related to this phenomenon. Aside from the method of influence Maharishi advocates, there are several schools of thought, both western and eastern, that tap into this process through prayer or meditation for example. I personally engage in this process with my local Astrology group by acting as part of a circle, holding hands and supporting a collective request for world peace. I believe this method has an impact on the world and certainly my immediate environment. I also believe that we can project positive thoughts toward the world individually. But I think the benefit of coming together in a group is that it is very empowering and helps us have confidence in the positive message we project out. When we see other people sending out the same positive energy, I believe that energizes us and helps us continue to send out positive thoughts for a prolonged period of time.
It certainly seems that as the concept of influencing global and mass consciousness continues to gain credence, more groups of people are forming up with the specific intent of exerting their combined wills to effect global change.
The other night I was listening to COAST TO COAST which is a radio program www.coasttocoastam.com that discusses metaphysical and paranormal phenomenon. Shelley Yates was the guest at the time. Shelley is involved with a group that is organizing a meditation project for world peace through influencing global consciousness. Members of her group selected a date, July 17, 2007, which. according to the radio interview, was determined through Astrological methods, to come together in a global mediation for world peace. Shelley doesn't claim to be an Astrologer nor does she claim on her website to understand why this date was selected. Nevertheless, it is a date she is promoting as a point of convergence for her group in this global consciousness process. The following is an excerpt from her website which discusses her/their plan:
"This plan involves only one hour from each of us. Our combined energies will work to direct energy to the Earth and to each other. I ask you to choose the way in which you deliver your intention. For those of you that pray, then pray for the hour asking for the faith and power to accomplish this tremendous task. Those of you, who meditate, meditate and see the intention of your thoughts swirling deep inside our earth delivering the love and healing. Those of you who have no ritual of faith may simply develop one that works for you. If you sit quietly and repeat a phrase of your intention such as “I offer you my energy to heal this world and its people." Any positive words of hope, love and desire for change will manifest these thoughts as reality - our new reality. If possible, gather with others during this hour. I have found that the intensity of my meditation heightens when I am sharing the experience with other people."

Her project certainly warrants further examination and I have marked the date July 17, 2007 on my calendar. I intend to participate in the World Peace project on August 26, 2006 as well, lending my positive thoughts to the cause. (And I'll do so more frequently too Ana.)
Also, tonight they will be interviewing Dean Radin of the Global Consciousness project on the COAST TO COAST Radio program. I've mentioned his research several times in various threads. I highly encourage anyone interested in the research on Global Consciousness to tune in tonight.
