dear all, science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2004/06dec_geminids.htmas i'm sure some of you knew, on the night of december 13 there was a meteor shower involving the asteroid 3200 phaethon. i don't know if anyone else got to see it, but on that particular night i was driving toward big bend national park in texas, in the middle of NOWHERE, TEXAS and i got to see 2 lovely "shooting stars"! they were so beautiful. it was bigger and brighter than any shooting star i've ever seen. and moments after i saw the streaking light across the sky, i could still see a ghost trail. it was lovely. did anyone else get to see this event? sincerely, chrissy

I don’t think it was visible from the southern hemisphere, though your experience of the shooting stars sounds lovely. Did you make a wish? Kim

dear kim, oh yes! it was the first one i saw, that was the one i wished on. it was the one i was actually lucky enough to be looking up at the sky and catch. the other couple i saw i only caught out of the corner of my eye. after i saw the first one, i remember just being thankful that i, this one little entity on a giant planet, got to witness that phenomena. i felt gratitude. it really was quite spectacular - it almost didn't look real. chrissy
