Hi Kim and All:
I've just been having some fun pulling up asteroids and seeing how they fall in a synastry chart.
Here's a connection that looks interesting: His Circe conjunct my Lust at less than a degree (in Aries of course). Anyone want to chime in and give some input?
Anyone have similar connections?
I just thought it might be fun to explore these two asteroids in synastry ;D
Thanks!
A.R.

Okay, girl, you have my attention. I just had a look …I checked my Lust and Circe against the first two guys that popped into my mind…real guys(not Keanu ) that I have a SPARK with and here is the results. His Circe conjunct my Lust, the other’s has his Draconic Lust on MY Draconic Circe. I am interested. (random sample of 3 is not statistically meaningful. How about you all think of a few “objects of affection and see if there is any contact. I have to ADD that in both these men, their Eros is conjunct either my Eros or my Psyche…of course I am going to feel that!) What do we know so far? Circe is a witch with a speciality in Love Potions. Lust is about joy, beauty and enthusiasm for the other…lust for life and passion for connection. Is it a love of magic? A passion for transformation? Both have a dark side…Circe is ruthless in her desires and renders men into “pigs in a sty.” Hardly a creative change for them. Lust can have a feeling of hunger…something that is in control of us! Ideas? Comments? This does warrant further research. Thanks! Kim

I'm not sure why I find this connection interesting. It may just be Circe herself I find fascinating. I was thinking more on this connection and it seems, perhaps, (to elaborate on what you said) when Lust and Circe are combined, Lust is transformed either into something rupulsive or beautiful, or maybe both at different times. Also, I get the feeling it would take great will to break away from Circe, once in her grasp, as she can make any environment very inviting and nurturing if she chooses (but maybe only on her turf). She did not want Odesseyus to leave. I feel she is a bit "needy". Anyhow, thats my 2 cents. A.R.

This is really interesting. I checked a dozen other charts, including people I have felt the attraction-repulsion thing for…no contacts. The only personal experience I can come of with that have the synastry conjunctions of Lust/Circe are the first two I checked. I will keep looking. I think Circe is the queen of love spells, and the queen of revenge on her rivals! (or anyone who gets in her way). With Odysseus, she took care of his crew straight up by turning them into pigs. Odysseus was there with her for years, and they had at least two children. (In mythology, when a child is born, it means that something creative comes from the union!) The idea of repulsion is interesting. It is like the other side of “lust”, the other side of rabid desire. It makes me think of the Shadow, of what we fear and loath we also can fall in love with…Circe may certainly contain elements of the shadow…<br> I think Circe is “needy” in the sense that the Shadow element of the unconscious is Needy. There is a hunger for recognition, a drive to live out in some way. (as Jung said, “Every aspect of the psyche seeks outer manifestation—which translates into every aspect of the horoscope is seeking outer manifestation). Perhaps when she teams up with Lust, she is able to express in a particular way with another. Perhaps it is the “hook” the unconscious hangs the desire. Which brings us to “What does Circe want?” Ultimately, I think she wants love, passion and companionship. Her mastery with love spells suggests she has worked hard to develop what it takes to make another “want her…love her”. She also seems steeped in her communion with animals. Can anyone else add to things that Circe WANTS? Has anyone else check for Lust/Circe synastry contacts? Let’s keep exploring this. Kim

hello all, I guess what Circe wants is dependant upon where she happens to be, and who she happens to be with... Although my personal Circe is in the 12th house conjunct my Mercury and Isis.. (my Amor also happens to be 12 th house but in the sign of Taurus..) I don't see this as a significant synastry asteroid for me, although my husband happens to have Circe (34) in Aquarius at a trine to his own Sun at 1 degree Gemini give or take about less than two degrees. (it does make a sextile contact between my Pandora/Chiron conjunction) Taking up that thread of thought, His own Conjunction of Pluto/Uranus/Pandora/Isis/Hygenia in his 5th house seems to be the spliting of my own Isis/Circe conjunction.. into different sectors.. saying that perhaps "I like this about you if it would act this way.." My combination with Circe does happen to sextile his Venus in Aries-- which is in a conjunction aspect his Lust and Apollo.. so I guess its there some how. I won't get into other synastry.. but I noticed some one has a Toro/Mars/Circe combination in Gemini all within one degree! Ok thats enough thinking for the moment.. I must go.. take care all, svenskasfinx

Hi My feeling on Circe is she wants control, especially over men in a woman's chart, and agree with Kim on what she is "wanting". I may be way off in this since my Circe is conjunct the MC and Mars in my chart. Lust isn't one I have delved into as yet. I recall reading about her years ago and have used this name in online gaming, so have felt a definite affinity to her. She also reminds me of many paintings of the Tarot card Strength, which deals with among many other things, a control over the more bestial nature within ourselves, as well as an embracing of those characteristics as well. Ironically the card itself is also referred to as Lust in many decks. Circe has the power of spiritual purification so this again reinforces the tranformative effect she can process. Hermes gave Odysseus an herb/power to make her potions useless. So simplistically, thought and logic seem to negate her emotional need for control or give her the time needed to digest (herb/potions) and use her powers into a more positive light. Any debate on my take is welcomed. I could be way off since too many planetary configurations in my natal seem to be about control and may be more of a theme contributing than Circe.. I think she just is another layer of all this. Brightest Blessings, LeYeL

I looked at this synastry in all the charts I have available and it makes me wonder what these asteroids mean.
My husband's Lust semi-squares my Circe My Lust squares his Circe There are plenty of other aspects between our Circe's and Lusts and other planets/angles.
Chico's Lust sextiles my Circe His Circe opposes my Lust Many other aspects, including one that would be funny if it weren't SO true--my Circe is conjunct his Saturn.
But these two asteroids, like Eros, might not necessarily mean physical attraction because
In synastry with one brother, his Circe squares my Lust and My Circe semi-sextiles his Lust.
And with my sister-in-law, Her Circe trines my Lust.
There are many ways that the Siren calls to our passions--those things that are so deep within us they become needs. I am thinking of my brother's Circe in his eighth house Pisces--he is a professional musician whose playing is incredibly sensual and beautiful, which does connect to my Gemini 8th house Lust which is conjunct my Sun. His Circe falls in my 5th house. I remember going to hear one of his bands play in the early 80's and being the only one out on the dance floor, swaying like I was in some sort of trance.
My sister-in-law's Circe in 11th house Libra also "calls" to my sister air sign Gemini Lust and my Asc/Neptune/Vesta (in 12th house and her Circe falls in my 12th house) AND Draco Venus/Sappho/Sun are all Libra, so that's a no brainer. It has to do with a depth of relating to each other through the mind.
Interesting thread!
Blessings, Amoroso

I'm really going senile. I put the thread topic where my name should've gone. If this hadn't been the extraordinary year it's been, I might apologize. But actually, I am proud that I still can type anything...

In my configuration it feels like wishes to find someone worthy of her challanges.. ...as in the myth where she is stunned by the fact Odysseus did not fall under her spell and her drugs..and when she agreed to let the men go, who were turned in to pigs, they were all the better for it, so it seems. I feel just like the signs colour the ways planets, points and asteroids express themselves that Circe in Gemini takes on a more intellectual/logical kind of control.. (I recall you have Circe in Gemini also) I feel your exploring of the symbolism really works. So I'm not challanging anything to what you have stated, because I totally agree. Take care, svenskasfinx

Hi Svenskasfinx "I feel just like the signs colour the ways planets, points and asteroids express themselves that Circe in Gemini takes on a more intellectual/logical kind of control.." So true, thank you for pointing that out to me that is a fact I overlooked in the last post. Typically I suffer from Virgo's problem with synthesis.. I can focus on one or a few points at a time but have major problems in melding many factors at once. I learned from a cookbook perspective with Astrology and am always fighting the "can't see the forest for the trees syndrome LOL" It occured to me just now that I don't seem to have as big a problem with that in Tarot, so your reply has given me food for thought! Many thanks!

These are all important insights into Circe, lust and their relationship to the Psyche. And I do agree that the sign you find them in will “color” your experience of what they want, need and have to offer. Also, the house you find them in, or the house that is activated by Synastry (just consider where someone’s Circe, for instance, falls in your natal chart. Forget for a moment if it aspects anything or not.) The house activation is going to give us an idea of WHERE (as Amoroso pointed out with her brother’s synastry) we are likely to MEET the god or goddess in question.
I like your connection, LeYel, of Circe to the tarot STRENGTH. I do think she has a dark element, however, one that seems to be a component of the shadow. I think this is were the “repulsion” factor can come in, and also the kinds of torment and cruelty she can conjure, as in the cast, for example, with Scylla. When she wants something, she uses her creative powers to get it…even if that means destroying the rival, or the obstacle in front of her. Again, these are shadow elements of Circe.
Svenskasfinx, that is a good point about her reaction to Odysseus. It seems she may be quite impressed by his ability to “match” her power…or resist it at least. (we always want what we can’t have?) Gemini likes something different, something new and not yet “defined” or categorized. In this case, Gemini gets to turn the natural curiosity for such things into knowledge. Again, Circe and Odysseus had offspring, a mythic symbol of creative outcome.
My Circe is exact on my Venus/Moon midpoint and I do see her “witch” qualities quite strongly. This point is in Aries, and there is something there about wanting to be the boss…especially of her rivals! It can become a matter of competition!
LeYel, how interesting is it that you have Circe on the MC with Mars and you used her name for your “social identity” (MC) while gaming (Mars)!
Amoroso, I get the image of two witches stirring the cauldron (not hoary Macbeth witches, but beautiful, potent ones) bring about creative change. I wonder “where” your conversations go, when you and your sister-in-law have a chance to set them free?
I do suspect that very close conjunctions and perhaps oppositions (to natal planets or synastry planets and points) would be the most obvious for getting a handle on this asteroid goddess!
Warm wishes, Kim

Hej Kim, and everyone!
thanks for the contribution to the symbolic meaning of Circe here.. there was one last thing that comes to mind with my Circe or with Circe/Lust synastry in general..
The myth is remincent of the idea of the darker side of love where the "knight/male" must battle the "dragon/beast" to rescue/aquire the "princess/female"--- however with Circe we know that the Beauty is in fact the Beast, and the relationship between that and the desire or delight of living that is "Lust" (we have that word in Swedish and it means a desire to want to do something..but also the English meaning is used about 50% of the time).
Sometimes the better parts of our own natures don't easily show themselves without first getting defencive... how far it can go is anyone's guess, but when someone goes so far to stand up to the challange and see the more positive qualities.. the gifts and better qualities seem so show.
Circe is blessed with many powerful quallities and good potencial.. she feels but doesn't want to give in too lightly, and yet desires union. (or at least I feel she does or it could be my "Isis" talking)
This is an intersting thread, thank you everyone for the wonderful question and contributions written here.

I just have to say that I agree. This thread is very interesting. Circe seems, in some ways seems to be a dichotomy. deceptive witch, nurturing lover, I think in some ways Cleopatra comes to mind when I think of Circe. In the end she could not hold her lover either. I have enjoyed reading all the different takes on her.
