As June 8th approaches, and the occultation (eclipse) of Venus over the Sun, I thought I would share a collogues’ views on the subject.
Janet Kane is a Jungian analyst and avid astrologer. She has a practice in DC, and offers meetings, workshops and private consultations. Also, you can get on her mailing list! It is full of astrological, psychological and mythological tid-bits and insights. If you would like to join her list, please send an email to janetkane@earthlink.net with JOIN ASTROLOGY LIST in the subject line.
Everyone, have a look at your charts and see where this event falls (what house? What aspects?)
The events, inner and outer, associated with this occultation will be activated until the NEXT one in 2012! We can use this 8 year interim to better understand the contact.
Warm wishes,
Kim
This is Janet's view on the upcoming occultation of Venus over the Sun.
2. Eclipse of Venus – Not much is being written by astrologers on the passage of Venus across the face of the Sun that takes place on Jun 7. I don't think they know what to expect since this is a very rare occurrence. It will take place at 17 degrees of Gemini and will last for over six hours. It will be visible in the northeastern part of the U.S for up to two hours. It occurs twice in an eight year span after either a length of 121.5 years or 105.5 years between the last pair of events. It occurred on 6 June 1761 and again on 3 June 1769 and then the last pair of Venus transits occurred on 8 Dec 1874 and again on 6 December 1882. (I will leave it up to the history buffs to research what the similarities are between these dates and the present time) The next one will be on 5 June 2012.
Don't forget this is not just an transit whose effect goes after it passes, it is an eclipse so it sets the tone until the next eclipse in 2012. I'll take a stab at interpreting the meaning of this transit. In classical mythology the battle between Saturn (form, structure, tradition) and Uranus (chaos, rebellion) created Venus. She represented the only thing that could reconcile these two energies and that is Harmony, Diplomacy and Love.
The Sun represents consciousness and Venus represents the feminine and the power of love. She also represents relating, consensus and diplomacy. These values may be brought into consciousness. Maybe we will see women of power in the news or women’s issues becoming important or women becoming involved in solving some of the conflicts around the world. Also, Venus could represent a growing of the peace movement.
On a personal level, especially if you have the ascendant or personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars) at 17 degrees of Gemini or Sagittarius, this could bring balance and harmony to your relationships. Venus is still retrograde at this time so a lot of healing could be happening beneath the surface.
This eclipse of Venus falls exactly on Senator John Kerry’s natal Moon and is in exact opposition to his wife’s Sun. This could mean that there is a strengthening of the bond between them and a powerful partnership is formed. Also, these two may become attracted to incorporating ideas of cooperation in foreign affairs.
