Thanks Tom, this is highly relevant for me as Kim has just posted an audio file on Eros moving into Virgo, which for me is my entire 5th house, so I've been thinking about the transits it will make. Plus thinking more about Saturn, which is also working its way through my 5th. Lucifer is one I'd forgotten about, so thanks for the timely reminder! It really is "5th house time" for me at the moment - by 23rd August I'm going to have Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Eros all transiting through the 5th!
We corresponded a bit about Lucifer by email when you did my True BML report, as Lucifer is conjunct BML in my chart (at 21 Virgo). I'm giving it some more thought now thanks to your article, and to this mega-transit of my 5th house.

in case anyone's interested, the recording of a workshop i did on lucifer in los angeles a few weeks ago is available via my website. it's the first public presentation of over three years of original work on this misunderstood archetype. there's a talk portion where i go into the mythology and archetype of lucifer, defining evil, and explaining how his story is really about devoted service, & how the concept of a devil is meant to keep us from valuing the voice of doubt, what lucifer in each of us offers. i walk through three example charts to bring the ideas to life, and i provide pdfs of those charts so you can follow along. full details here: tdjacobs.com/media.htmlbest, tom

The current issue of Aspects, the magazine of the Astrological Society of South Africa, has an article of mine about Lucifer and Lilith (the true black Moon and asteroid), "Seeing in the Dark: Rethinking Lilith & Lucifer," for anyone interested. It summarizes what I've been doing with these archetypes for the last few years. www.astrologysociety.org.za/content/blogcategory/66/32/Best, Tom

I have Tom to thank for educating me about Lucifer which in my first house I am sure my late mum would find this a hoot and say she suspected it all the time But also for pointing out that Lucifer is a little ray of sunshine really....... ? I have bought the mp3s anyway........but not got them yet ............

The asteriods in astrology have been a new revelation for me. Also mid point analysis. Its all alot of new information for me. Although I haven't really been to aware of my lucifer aspects. However I've had maybe LUCIFIER actions and attitudes in my life. For instance grew up in a staunch Catholic household. Was the quintessential "altar boy" serving mass everyday at times. I broke away from Catholism and traditional christianity and it seemed life and circumstances forced me to re evaluate my belief system and belief systems in general. That didnt fly very well with my parents and there was some keen ostracism due to that. However I'm content with that too. However I have a well aspected 9th house Pluto...so usually those kind of things work out for the better for me.
I built my world around Jesus and christianity and in the end...Jesus and christianity asked for everything but didnt give anything back to me. Even though christians call me "lost" and "evil". I am probably more honest and more real than them anyway. These are the kind of people that can go to church and say they are good christians..while cheating, lying, being less than gracious with others. The hypocrisy turns my stomache.

I think all religions have some people in them who have not got the true underlying message and are just in it for the social and we belong feel good side even if they do not realise this The social aspect is anyway important for people to have in their lives I have been disappointed that even the most allegedly all embracing religions are in practice prejudiced and have judgemental people in them Just how it is I suppose

Still a retrograde Pluto in my solar 9th house on top of my natal 9th house pluto has made religon and high mind stuff a very changable and powerful thing in my life. Pluto aspects effect me keenly and it usually means stuff like leaving a church or prayer group or contemplating atomic structures and the relative parallel universes and things that are other worldly.
Like for example. I was being aggrevated by having to retune my guitar for like open G tuning or Open C tuning for certain songs...either I had to carry 2 or 3 different guitars tuned to open G or open C or tune and retune. I suddenly had an Epiphany and now can easily get open C tuning just by merely placing a guitar capo on the 5th fret..and truncating up one string on a score. How I figured this out I'm still trying to figure out. Mere trial and error and a jumble of enharmonic and transposing of key signatures it took me all night...wrote down the end results and then read my notes and tried them and they worked....I was able to play open G songs without retuning and then to an open C without retuning....and I still cant figure out how and why it works. I'm just glad I wrote down the end result and that it works. Wish I could do that more.

"a good approach for lucifer in practical applications is that it represents the voice of doubt in each of us. independent of our actions (whether we choose to do what we know is good or choose the opposite), lucifer has us questioning ourselves. this voice of doubt has us asking ourselves if we are doing good or bad...in the best cases, it's a natural voice that can help us keep ourselves in check." Putting aside that my father has his Lucifer 5 degrees from his 12th house North Node (Scorpio Lilith near his VX, conj. my North Node), is there something you see in particular about conjunctions to midpoints at work with Lucifer? I'm fairly sure I've lived with all that all my life, of course, but as an example to others, hmh. My Sun/Ceres and Sun/Mars midpoints fall 2 degrees from each other, on my Lucifer in Cancer in 12th. Ignoring the myriad other planet to planet aspects and the fact that my mother's Uranus is there, too, my father's AC conj Saturn also falls on the point. If you talk of doubt, I might perhaps use the word trust or being able to trust in a figure that ties to certain Ceres factors and/or the paternal image. Or then it's karmic much, whatever works. You write elsewhere "Deeply meaningful Lucifer work takes one to the threshold at which it's seen that all one can do about developing a relationship to the divine is to choose to do it or not to do it. To either manifest our idea of the divine through our actions or to manifest the opposite," but in the first few minutes at least I'm not entirely sure how that would apply to the 12th house specifics. Possibly because I'm too close to it, but anyway. I'm vaguely perversely pleased it is 12th house stuff though, whether that makes any sense or not. There is your bit about feelings of anger over a feeling of betrayal which tie to the word trust already mentioned, but in 12th house specifics on a general level perhaps? I think the above person had 12th house in mind as well, so maybe there is something in that that asks for more illumination? And since I can't ever seem to shut up (third house Virgo Mercury?), something that may or may not tie up to your talk of Lucifer and the idea of evil also in that blog. I have a long term interest in certain types of villainous figures in movies and fiction, nigh making it a specialty or something to evaluate as per whatever inner criteria when you see a "good" villain or a baddie. I've been on connoisseur levels at times, perhaps. Yet whenever an alignment style "choice" has come up in dreams, there was never any choice. If it was about fighting evil, you never once actually had a choice even when the evil was going to be stronger and your fight seemingly doomed, as perhaps pointed out by whatever figure, too. The question there was that if you actually knew what evil was like, you could never choose it. At the risk of too much information, I've even dreamt of a concentration of evil, and it's something you try to bury and run from, to never have that loose in the world, it actually being horrifying or something you never want to feel or face again. And it was dormant or contained at that stage, a glimpse of sorts of its magnitude you could grasp on your level. So even beyond such raw knowledge with only the malicious to face, if you know what it is, you can't lean in that direction when it comes to it. Real life gets more complex with the tarnished levels leaning that way, but still. Ho ho ho to the Algol potential conjunct my South Node, what? Thank you for the post/s in any case (everyone).
