Hi everyone,
I recently was asked again about fixed stars on the angles and particularly Caput Algol (25 Ta) and Serpentis (19 Sc) prominent in a chart. "Would this really damage the person's life?" they queried. “Would it hinder them in their connections with others or chance to succeed?”
My answer?
A person's life is what one makes it. Perhaps the best approach to explaining this is to post a chart.
Here is a woman with Serpentis (a fixed star the astrologer Thomas Charubel (1800's) called 'the cursed degree of the accursed sign denoting people who are a 'pest and a terror to society') exact on the ascendant and the North Lunar node conjunct Caput Algol!
Again, with the thought 'our lives are what we make of them', would anyone like to comment on the chart and how they might have used these configurations in their lives?
How might Sepentis on the Ascendant express? Node/Algol? What about The sun/mars on the MC? Mercury square Pluto? The T-square of Ju/Ur/Ne?
It would be great to get some dialog going before we reveal who this person is!
Hope everyone is well. I’ll be back to contribute more this weekend and see what you come up with!
Warmly,
Kim
Dear Kim,
I've always loved chalanges such as this.
I get the feeling that this person had to deal with alot of these energies in a creative way, but that with the Saturn Square of Venus she may have had to repress some of that dynamic Venus in Leo drama.
No doubt that this person lead a very dramatic life, yet I see the highlight of one side of her nature, her 10th house, public face very much someone who took alot of pride in the details (Sun in Virgo conjunct MC) energy in her work (Mars conjunct Sun in Virgo in the 10th house) and possibly someone who didn't know nore care about others saying "No that is not possible".
Part of me thinks that this person is a scientist or someone in medicine, but then again with The Moon, the 9th house ruler in the 6th house exalted in the sign of Taurus, and nearly conjunct the North Node of the Moon, that 9th house, international feeling is present, religion and philosophy may also apply, or once again, medicine. With the this ruler in the 6th house I see it as a part of her everyday life. I sometimes read th 9th house as political house as well as "medical" house, as in established doctors.. for example, so she could have been a doctor, or a political figure.
With Mars being the ruler of her 6th house, and that Mars being in the 10th house as well as the co-ruler of her ascendant, this was someone who really had to be tough in her daily life and project that image of energy and service. This must have been very difficult and almost a state of denial of everything we consider luxurious and feminine, but yet we see Saturn trined this Mars so this kind of dutiful service, or work or projection of energy stablised her and she probably found this energy "easy"; not that Mars in aspect to Saturn ever could feel "easy".
She must have also suffered in some way in her daily life, with Saturn in the 6th house in retrograde in Taurus, but with it in good aspect to Mars in Virgo, there was something strengthening I suspect in this hardship; with Saturn as ruler of her 3th house, she must have not communicated this so openly.
With Jupiter in the 11th house, as the ruler of her 2nd, it seems that she must have been blessed with generous friends or was part of groups or organisations of a Jupiter/Venus nature, as Libra is the ruler of the 11th. She may have had been a glamourous international "friend" or had many glamourous international friends. (considering Venus in Leo, in the 9th house).
She must have communicated in front of large groups of people (?) (just because she had Jupiter in the 11th house in Libra).
Now the more dynamic aspects, such as Mercury in its Ruler, in Virgo in the 10th house, with a Square aspect to Pluto in the later degree of Gemini in the 8th house, I suspect with this aspect one can say this is a person who either didn't know when to keep her self quiet, or other people would like to silence her.. When truth (shiny Mercury in pure Virgo
in the 10th house) comes to light, this person would have a struggle within where they should talk about it and where they should not talk. This is a person who probably kept secrets as well. Pluto is at home in the 8th house, and is her natural ASC ruler. Thinking also Saturn ruling the 3rd house.
The Scorpio ASC and the star " Serpentis " lends an intensity to her nature. Perhaps obsessive, perhaps a tallent, perhaps a deeper perspective on the whole of the global human condition, perhaps an understanding of crime, prostitution, rape, sexuality, life, birth, death, filth, polution, disease, catastrophies... everything "PLUTO", but with Neptune in the 8th, perhaps a denyal of those things as well.. a sort of suspended disbelief that things could be so harsh, then again Neptune can be escape, idealisation, photography, spirituality. With a Piscies 4th house, I suspect we know very little about her early life, was she an orphan or felt abandoned? I think also about this Neptune being in the 8th. Was her home hidden?
With Jupiter as a co-ruler she may have lived as a part of a group.
Ok finally with Leo/Aquarious intercepted in the 9th/3rd houses, there is a hidden aspect to the nature of her "solar" ego. I suspect it projects 9th house Leo aspirations into Virgo's sublimation of ego via service (?).
The North Node conjunct Caput Algol is in my opinion a pouring in of energies from the social issues of the day. These seem very difficult, it feels as though all around you society as a whole may be too violent, too brutal or too competitive (thinking of my husband with his personal planets in conjunct the North Node of the Moon also conjunct Caput Algol, (Mercury his ASC ruler and Mars). I would see that because she felt these energies so strongly she would make herself a strong force to project her own energies. Certainly I see Caput Algol as a very strong star, but I think of it not as much as the constilation of Medusa getting her head chopped off, but rather this intensive energy of the "gorgon's gaze"; even in death, what she sets her eyes upon becomes effected... (or turns to stone?)
I think of some of the people who had Caput Algol in a prominant placement and naturally being an artist I think Salvador Dali. His energy was AMAZING, he was a very productive as a painter as well as a designer ect.
With the chart in question, the idea of Caput Algol is just adding a greater need to the energies in question.. a need to be called into duty?(6th house Moon about to Conjunct that North Node) Called into partnership? (7th house).
What ever the case, Kim's statements about energy within the aspects always hits home with me.. energy is neither good nor bad, it just is. We know from the psychology of human nature we ourselves have the choice to either do "good" or "bad" and from a perspective of the culture, this too can change, one can take for example the revolutions which start countries or the perspective of those in power take towards those who innocently question why we do things. As history changes perspective from who is telling it, so does energy change perspective from what its doing and why its being done. Even today.
When people go against the tide of violence, such as Gandi, for example, they too are in dangered of being labled "bad" for their work in peace provokes "revolution", and thus remindes me if I am not mistaken that Gandi himself had a very strong Mars/Pluto aspect in his Natal chart, and perhaps also a Scorpio feeling to it all. It may be worth while looking that up and seeing just where these fixed stars in question are found in his chart. If anything I guess I would have to look it up.
The woman in question, had alot of energies to choose from and this being the case, there may be things she had to suppress in order to work effectively, or things she may have used to work effectively, for example maybe bribery, or friends in high places.. or denying herself anything in order to do her work, wether that was nursing, or science or research, I don't really know. But the more I think about it I do suspect politics, religion, philosphy, international work, medicine.. something pointing to that 9th/10th 9th/6th house thing.
..... Anyone else?
Take care, and finally thanks Kim for posting this, it was very interesting.
