I'm trying to make sense of the effect of having Psyche and Eros in aspect within a Natal chart. I understand how it works in synastry, but not within a person's natal chart. I have Psyche-Eros in conjunction in Sag and they are conjunct the Asc which is conj the Sun, opposition Mars, and Psyche also loosly opposes Saturn, so its a very sensitive point in my chart. I'm guessing that I'm not seeing the forest for the trees here, due to the fact I have this high-energy point. It may be blinding me, so to speak. I have a friend who also has the Psyche-Eros conjunction in Aquarius. She spent years crying over a lost love, mostly closed off to everyone else, very idealistic in romance. We knew this guy died in war, but that did not stop her longing for him. -Del

I have Psyche on the Asc too which seems to make me so vague and tend to merge into the mood of who ever is handy for good or ill but also extremely good at working with the public- one at a time - cos of that How is it with Eros there too? Not to mention the Sun etc etc My Eros is in wide trine to it Ah but that is what YOU want to Kinow too......... My daughter has it there too and we can both draw likenesses easily which I am sure is the Psyche tuning into the person. I cannot think of anyone with a P/E conj in my life..........

Norain, I agree. When there is a powerful conjunction, any conjunction, it can be hard to separate out the influences. They merge. It's like the Asc is blue and Eros is red and Psyche pink but when you look at them you can only see purple!
Notes from my Eros Nata Reports might give you some insights. . .
Eros in Aspect to Psyche
“Eros, the fiery flighty spirit who came and went secretly and refused to be seen in the light, has acquired at least the substance of a healed wound. The Eros she knows now is…produced by the Soul’s contemplation of the Divine Mind; it is the medium through which she can finally be present to “that other loveliness”. He is the carrier of divine beauty which must, to become united with psyche and soma, be touched by the pain of earthly life." --Harriet Eisman
Psyche and Eros contacts can symbolize a sense of focused intention where erotic desires are met with a kind of inner knowing and receiving. It isn’t always without struggle. Read the myth. “Love everlasting” did not come easy for these immortal lovers.
Astrologically, where Eros is in the natal chart is where, how and why we fall into the madness of passionate love. Natal Psyche is where we long for union filled with meaning, psychic connection and a shift towards new perceptions, creations and ideas. Put the two together and things like enchantment, creative muses and telepathy come to mind.
Psyche represents a refined love, an urge to develop psychic bonds with another. There is a longing and searching quality in Psyche that vacillates between determined progress and hopeless surrender. Both extreme states seem requisite to the process of Psyche’s quest. She knows what she wants, searches for it selflessly, then finds herself faced with a seemingly impossible task. She may give up, at this point, in despair, only to find that by surrendering, support appears as if by magic.
Eros and Psyche aspects may be our key to developing a sense of inner completion between soul (Psyche) and spirit (Eros), represented and processed through conscious refinement of external relationships. Eros will meet the longings of Psyche and spark the fires of transformation and psychic evolution. Psyche will lift the churning passions of Eros up to a creative level of expression. Spirit defines itself through matter and matter transforms into spirit. The creative and intimate experiences that coincide with this contact are bound to be momentous. The boundaries are broken and the doors unlocked, sometimes...
There can be some conflict with this aspect. Psyche wants connections of a particular kind. It is a longing to be understood and to understand that goes beyond intuition. This asteroid represent a desire to be connected in a kind of unconscious knowing, a psychic link. Eros, of course, is erotic love, the kind of passion and desire that brings two, or more, individuals together in such a way that there is a lasting transformation. That doesn’t mean the coming together lasts. It means the effects of that union lasts. There could be a conflict of interest here, where the Eros "side" is ready to retreat and the Psyche "side" doesn't want to let go.
Because this contact makes relationships all the more complex, there may be a reticence to jump into commitments--intimate, creative or both. It is not that there is a lack of capacity for union. Quite the opposite. With Eros in aspect to Psyche, the desire to experience love and connection are sometimes outweighed by an intolerance for the mediocre. Not just anyone will do. In fact, without a dart from Eros, this contact may spend more time contemplating romance than experiencing it. Hopes run high. They need to be met with presence, honesty and integrity.
This contact is extremely charismatic and sexy. Those with it do best to drop all expectations and assumptions around love. It is theirs to redefine!

Wow, Kim...that is really helpful. Thank you. I think I am beginning to understand this contact now. It seems to affect my creative energy. Women that have contact to either my Psyche or Eros tend to give me a LOT of creative energy. It seems to have more effect than even Venus/Mars/Uranus contacts. I can see there is great power in the Psyche/Eros contacts. I knew one girl who was absolutely inescapable, and we had nothing much between our charts except her Psyche conj my Eros. The attraction was so strong I couldn't stay away. I was not attracted to her looks, her personality, nothing in common, yet it was a STRONG sexual attraction. My music career really took off from that time too. It was a very powerful experience. -Del

Your advice to drop all assumptions about love is good. My friend who had an exact conjunction of Psyche and Eros did not do that, she held out waiting for that one perfect love even after he was known to be dead, and she made little progress on any level for 15 years. When I was very young I also did this, but re-programmed myself to live much more in the present, which seemed to help a lot. Yet, there are times where I still have a hard time letting go of the spiritual side of a romance while I'm "all done" on a physical and emotional level. So, this is "right on" good advice, Kim.

Norain,
I'm glad it resonates with you! Letting go is a beautiful thing when fully embraced.
Thanks for your examples. We learn so much by seeing how these configurations work out in the day to day real life experiences.

Obviously, now and then two hetrosexual males will have a close Eros/Psyche contact. Then what? I had a friend some years ago who's Eros was exact conjunct my Psyche. Of course, I have the Eros/Psyche conjunction opposing Mars, while he had Jupiter square his Eros exactly from Virgo. He was an average 30ish Pisces Sun guy with a Capricorn Moon, Virgo Mars, Libra Asc, rather conservative, and average looks. Then he moved into the apartment above me. It was amazing. There were girls climbing in his windows from the balcony, 24 hours per day, no kidding, actually waiting in line to make love to this guy. It was surreal. He had to move as he was getting worn out! ;D What a way to go! ;D Soon as he moved to another apartment farther away the madness stopped. Of course during all this I remained totally pure... When he and I were together on the street women would come up and introduce themselves and give him their phone number. This happened dozens of times! And, yes, they always chose him, not me unfortunately, something about the Eros activation made him irresistible. I know it sounds like a tall tale, but thats what happened. Another guy I know (Aries Sun, Pisces Moon, Scorpio Asc) has Psyche conjunct my Mars opp my Sun/Eros. When I was with him he would get very romantic toward all the women around (he was an entertainer so there were LOTS of women there), and would get involved in weird affairs that left him confused as to why he was ever involved with them. I think that may be his over-activated Psyche operating. Of course when I was around him I always seemed to meet the nicest women. Without asteroids you would never see this interaction. When this was all occurring I didn't do asteroids, and so wondered what the heck was going on! its really interesting to look back through all the charts of 40 years with a few new tools. Thanks to Kim for the Eros/Psyche data.
