Natal Moon Void of Course

The Moon is void if she has made her last major aspect (con., sext., sq., tr., opp.) to the major bodies. They say in mundane affairs that nothing will come of anything begun during the void, it will be worthless, but that isn't necessarily true. If you quit a job during the void you will surely find another one quickly. If you shop for a major item, knowing what to look for, of course, you may just be able to find the very best value for you investment.

I'm sure most would agree that a human life is never fruitless and that every thing, even Moon VOC, has its purpose. I often visualize the opening verses in Genesis as Moon representing the waters. "And the earth was without form and void. Darkness was upon the face of the deep (or the face of the waters). The Spirit of God hovered over (was upon) the the waters. (which made up the void)....And God said, Let their be light..."

void= Hebrew bhu pronounced bo-hoo. hu is Heb. "he", by the way. If you add the i or y (hand) you have she.
deep =Heb the-home but pronounced teh-home. This is a surging mass of water.
spirit =Heb ruach meaning wind or breath. There are two words for spirit. This one is the rational form. The other, neshemah, is instinctual.
waters= Heb mayim, the 13th letter which is a plural but is always used as a singular. So the waters, although separated are really one with the spirit in the bosom.

God set the Moon in place to reflect the light of day into the darkness of night. It is our candle in the night. When the womb is void it is fully cleansed and prepares once again, a fertile home for potential life. That seed is planted in darkness, ruled by the waters, the Moon. As the waters below were gathered into one place, dry land appeared (a fetus in development, a place for evolving life to step to higher ground and into the light?).

Imagine the chaos that must have taken place as the waters receeded to one place and part of the waters rose above the expanse where the spirit dwells. Perhaps there were raging volcanoes, tsunamis of enormous strength molding and shaping the new world about to be born.

Hilary Clinton is a Pisces Moon void-of-course in the 10th house First Lady. It is apparent that her emotional reactions are very much under control. We could further speculate that she got where she is by fluke in as much as she is not the one who ran for office. She may have known all her life that this was her destiny, and because of it she went with the flow. Maybe the social issues she could right from that position were her motivating force. Perhaps Bill's doings are totally irrelevant as long as Hilary is allowed to complete those goals.

It is important to note that when an individual has a Moon void-of-course that Moon is placed late in the sign. Late degree planets are indicative of qualities, characteristics and traits that are well developed, honed almost to perfection. Maybe the fatalistic categorization isn't that far fetched after all. The emotional responses of a void-of-course Moon individual are almost those of a Buddhist monk or similar religious person learning the art of detachment in order to find enlightenment. With less attachment it is easier to navigate through life and to form fewer bonds requiring a return trip in a new body. It is more difficult to create new karma because by staying detached you are evoking less reactions from others. "

Linda Hawthorne, who has passed on, stated that the person with natal Moon Void has completed their personal karmic journey and have chosen to return to assist with a group karma issue. She went on to say that the person will have a sense of frustration until they find their true purpose.

Many with Moon void lack the usual connection with their mother, which is true with me. I love her but don't have the mother-daughter connection, it's void. I suspect that is true with NT also from the many things he's said.

So, some questions:

Do you experience emotions and mother differently?
What possible special purpose might be found within the void?
Do you notice repeatedly that fated things occur during a void?
Which of the above statements, if any do you find true for you? absolutely not true?
What other things are there about you that may be attributed to the unique circumstance of being born during the void?
What purpose might be shown through the last aspect Moon made before her time of reflection?

My void Scorpio Moon made her last aspect a trine to Uranus in the 12th. Jupiter is there also. He's been my protector. If I am here for a group issue it also involves 7th and 12th house matters. Aquarius rules my 7th. I can see that my children could get be involved because Jupiter is conjoined with Uranus and rules 5th. My 4th and 6th sons have Moon VOC. I can see the possibility that my purpose may include group issues, both within the family and in the greater world.

Moon is supposed to reflect the Sun who is in my 2nd but it doesn't seem to work quite normally. I was told that my aura is crystal, able to reflect others quite well which would explain why I get along with others easily most of the time. Perhaps my Moon is reflecting others (Uranus) instead of my Sun.

Scorpio is about power, Moon falls here. This reminds me of the story of the fall from grace. God told Adam he could have any thing he wanted except one fruit. Notice he didn't tell Eve that. So what does Adam do? He tells his partner not only may she not eat if, she'd better not even touch it or she would die. Well, the serpent, her wisdom, told her this wasn't true, so she ate it. Adam could have obeyed, but he didn't and he blamed God through his other creation Eve. Notice that Adams punishment was life long labor and Eve's punishment was really a blessing. A little necessary labor to give birth to a new creation. She is God's helper.

I see a recurring theme in my family, through my husband of 28 years and through my employers. The theme is the need to respect the differences between men and woman while treating them as equal. I am equal with a man but not the same. Of course many women have been carrying on the battle for equal rights but what has happened is that woman are often doing all the very hard manual labor while the men watch and view women as their on the job entertainment. Women are still there to serve their needs in many men's eyes, especially in the blue collar world. This theme fits well with my chart, I think. The more I give the less I get and it has now injured my arm and hands. Chiron seems to be involved also, through opposition to Uranus and Sextile to Moon.

My Davidson composite with my first husband had Moon void. Most of the appointments made for me by my employer's chosen doctor were during voids.

While Chiron teaches us about our wounds, he also teaches us how to heal, to teach others and be wise heros. He came onto the scene as an immortal being. He immortalized Promethias in order to discard his wound and in the process was immortalized yet again, in a different way. I think this is important.

I've noticed that people often don't react the way I would expect. For example, when I told a boss that he needed to take care of a sexual harassment problem or tell me where to file a complaint he fired me. I never in a million years would have expected that reaction.

I would like to comment on your idea of what Void of Course Moon is about, as to the fact that you happen to have aspects in Seperation doesn't mean that they are not Valid, Void of course Moon in Horary without Applying Aspects is generally the rule for Horary and for Event Charts, but when it comes to the Natal Chart we generally do not (at least I don't) discount the energies from aspects in Seperation.

Actually its quite odd that an astrologer would discount seperating aspects in the Natal chart, however not unheard of.. due to the fact most people feel that the STRENGTHS of the chart are in the Applying aspects.

With this in mind, and the wonderful writting you have come up with facing this idea of Void of Course Moon, perhaps the idea of Moon in Scorpio enbodying all of these energies you have brought up.. (much like Moon conjunct Pluto)..

If you give me your birth infomation I want to see farther into which asteroids were over by Mercury in Virgo (in seperating sextile to your Natal Moon)..

Yes, I see Mercury there in Virgo in aspect to the Moon in Scorpio, meaning something to the idea of the purity of your thoughts trying to express itself via the powerful Emotional nature of Scorpio Moon in the 4th house..Fantastic!!! There is so much depth to it all.

Yes events with VOC Moon seem to be very easily pushed forward by the shear force of the will, but sometimes it just means that the normal things in effect are not always working properly.. I suspect on those days I get dinner started late, it must be a VOC Moon.. but thats about it..

I do believe you understand exactly how the Moon in Scorpio functions via some of these illustrations you talk about.. some people see Moon in Scorpio as its "Detriment" but the sign Scorpio IS in harmony with the sign Cancer, so because your Moon is in the 4th house it tends to be a "draw"..because its in its Accidental Ruler.

Hi sven, I don't discount the separating aspects, but they are separating. I use the traditional definition of void, made its last aspect before leaving the sign. This is not only applied to horary or events but to daily life so I would assume, and have experienced that it is relevant. But perhaps I am confusing my observations with another phenomenon. Any idea what?

I guess my chart pasted kind of small. The data is Sept. 4, 1954 4:10 am Kalamazoo, Mi Asc. 17Leo13.

I know sometimes when one experiences things in life and finds a "name" for something which seems close to it, we tend to cling to that experience as though it was the only thing which "defines" us as persons.. wether it is a healthy thing or not is how we apply it, I do not deny you have an experience, a deep and moving one dealing with your emotional expression.

I would have to say after looking at this chart and all the Seperating and Applying aspects taken into mind, you have had some very powerful personal experiences!

Taking Eros into account, that is 10 degrees from conjunction, and although I don't often consider an orb as wide as that as "conjunction" it "feels" like it applies for some reason..

I'd also point that it is the late degree and in Scorpio which gives the Moon in this condition its "instablity"..or rather "bottomless pit of power" much like Eros OOB parellel your OOB Mars!

Your Mars is in Capricorn (Mars is Dignified there) it is two degrees conjunct your Vertex, Its got to mean Something about the dignfied nature of your power...

These aspects to the Moon are many and they are very tight, such as that Pluto Square, Uranus and Jupiter trined, Mercury and Juno sextile and Venus and Ceres semi sextile, and lets not forget Chrion sextile with 5 degrees-

If you identify with the idea of being born VOC, that's ok, I'm not here to say you have not discovered something by that. Astrology is a tool, sometimes the same tool can look and act differently in another system. I wanted to point out though when I think of "VOC Moon" I'm not thinking "bad" I'm just thinking that there are supposedly no connections to use and intergrate the energies of the emotions, early childhood, and Moon associated things.. that these are very difficult to access, but then again when you bury Scorpio -Moon feelings in the 4th house, sometimes its also difficult to access them. These two things can seem the same. But I don't see a lacking of connections or intergrations, in fact quite the opposite, I see someone who has alot of access to the depths of the emotional power of Moon in Scorpio, and that may be scary to other people, especially when you have such "power" and "dignified self control" as Mars in Capricorn may have, in spite of it being OOB!

Do you understand what I see? I see access, not lack of access..or lack of "bounderies".. but remember as they say with "cusps" the Moon is almost at 29 degrees, by a matter of minutes, a very critical degree... it certainly must have always felt that you have been saved, just within inches of space..or rather in seconds..

I will point out that Sun conjunct Urania in the second house finds value in "seeing the future". (that's my own personal interpretation) and I would say there is where you find that "clear aura" if anything... especially in Virgo.

I spent a great deal of time writing a response but my computor disconnected and it dissapeared when I tried to reconnect. So, I'll make it short but sweet. I understand the meaning of the void energy differently.

But I understand the void moon to have integrated all of the nature of the sign and the aspects that occured. The separating aspects are fully integrated during the void and are easily accessable. At the void, Moon has finished her work and is fully capable of reflecting the power inherit in the sign, she has her tools. Any thing new must wait. Those things that fall within the bounds of the Moon, her sign and aspects can be completed but before she can begin anything new, she must shed that clothing and put on a new robe. That seems to be the power of that moon in my life. I have had many failures despite my skills and abilities. Something has blocked my new endeavors. The only thing I can find in my chart to account for that is the void.

Looking at the amount of time before birth that Moon trined Uranus, it looks like that was the beginning of labor which lasted 5 hours 23 minutes. My labors usually took 5-6 hours also. Uranus in Cancer has to do with separation from the womb and separations within the family that are best for everyone concerned. My dad was on his first date with my step-mom that night and I can clearly see all of this in the aspects beginning with entrance into Scorpio. Juno was my dad's supposed betrayal of my mother. Pluto her hope to hold onto him which failed along with his desire to own and control. I even see her one night reunited with him in order to conceive my brother who is so much like him, in one final attempt to hold him.

One thing I've noticed about my emotional needs is that they fail to conform some of the traditional descriptions. I'm not secretive of private at all, as I'm sure you can tell. I'm not possessive, even of my children or mate. Power isn't at all scary, sought after or abused for or by me. It just is. I have had to deal with a lot of these issues in my family and with my 1st husband though, in harmony with the aspects you see here. When others have attempted to repeat family karma through me it has failed. An example: my mother lost custody of us twice.
My first husband accused me of being an unfit mother during our divorce just like happened to my mother, but ir failed. That karma was completed when I was born, through my birth. Yes, in real time it hadn't happened yet, but the unfit mother sterotype of Scorpio Moon was to be removed (Uranus in Cancer) once and for all.

No, I haven't heard about the Pluto club. I guess people have made me really aware I have Pluto in the 1st. The pastor at the church I used to attend once said to me, "You are a powerful woman", but I didn't take it that he liked it. I ask questions and dig deep. If he is going to teach something from his pulpit then he'd better be prepared to answer why, right down to the original Hebrew and its meaning. LOL I do it in a loving way though. Leo gives that. My husband is an Aries Sun-Moon in the 8th. He is the most humble loving Aries I've even known. His sun is at the degree of the greatest exaltation, 19. You'd think he might be an ego maniac but he isn't. Don't get me wrong, he has had false ego issues, but he is humble enough to transform it, Virgo rising, Uranus and Pluto in the 1st.

I went back to look at your chart again but couldn't find it. Are you saying Moon hasn't yet perfected it's square to Neptune?

You said it perfectly, "...separating in this life once and for all". I have had several separations that, as far as earthly journeys go, I feel are permanant. Of course, if we all come from the same original spark, which I believe we do, we will all be rejoined, but on a different plane and for a different purpose. I feel that way about my ex. I love him but it is a spiritual, platonic love. I feel no need to have any earthly connection to him other than our children. He chooses to not even have that contact with me but that is his karma, not mine.

I do have one biggie applying aspect that weighs heavily in my life, Jupiter-Uranus square Neptune-Venus. All but the Jupiter-Venus are separating but the Uranus sq Neptune has had a more profound mysterious energy for me. That one has been in affect my whole life by converse progression but it will be separated by 1 degree finally on Sept. 1 of this year. So I would think that it should dissapear. I think my arm issue is connected to this one. Now if I could only find out what was going on with my mom, dad and fetal developement about 52 days before I was born. I'll have to spend some time with that chart.

I'm sorry, what are the degrees and signs? It sounds like an out of sign aspect. If so then it doesn't count and the Moon is void. If it doesn't complete the aspect before Moon leaves that sign then the Moon is still void. I though you had your chart posted in the Jupiter return thread but I don't see it now.

Yes, it is void. Had to double check myself. Your Ceres is conjunct my Moon. Have you experienced the intence grieving symbolic of Ceres? I could feel my Moon just looking at her. Being sextile to 8th house Moon must be felt very deeply. My 6th/12th=your 2nd/8th. My Pandora=your Chiron.

Moon spent half the time in Capricorn void. How have you experienced Moon trine Venus? It must be a little different with their placement square by house. 26* and the 8th both hint as secrecy or privacy within 11th house groups. Internet groups are rather anonymous and you have authority over what you share. That would fill that need. Or investigating the depths of female bonds or mysteries on forums like this would work. Just guessing.

I remember one time a few years ago, the Moon never made any major aspect at all during her transit through Cancer. That doesn't happen very often.

Wow! Even without you going into much detail I can see you've been to the depths of Scorpio and back. It says a lot about you that you have experienced giving being taken advantage of as represented in you dream but then give youself away even more through body work. You have to be a channel of love rather than a vessel because then it isn't drained, it is channeled and constantly renewed through the power of Scorpio.

When is the next election, by the way? And what is the rising degree in the USA Scorpio chart. Hmmm Things never turn out quite like expected with Moon VOC. One thing I've worried about is my observation that when a women gets into a position for the first time that men have always held, they so much want to prove they can do it as good as a man that they, like Pallas, forget they are women and do the joy very badly. I remember the first woman principle at our school. She was the reason I started home schooling 20 years ago. No one tells me she is the professional and I will stay out of my child's education. Now we have our first woman governer. Both times I've written her with a concern over something she signed into law, she told me she doesn't make law, to address my concern to my legislators. Am I stupid or what! I could have sworn that was her signiture on the law. She waves her magic wand/pen over the document and an idea becomes law.

Her coming progressed chart has cusps identical to mine. Luck is shining on her with Jupiter on the cusp of the 5th in the degree of retribution. Sun-5th = President. Maybe.

I would have to say, I don't get the impression that the US would actually allow for a female president; I'd love to see it happen and I'd love to see them actually address the REAL LIFE issues of family life..

My mother was a single mother, and one of the things I recall was, just for her to "work" she needed child care.. in Sweden Childcare is something everyone is entitled to (some areas may be scarce but you are entitled to it if you are working, or looking for work...)

My mother didn't have that advantage and often just left me at home while I was sleeping (yes it is scary to think about it) just to earn a living in a system which only devalues women.

I don't know if Hillery is really a wonderful representive for women, but a woman president would naturally be a step in the right direction.

That's true... I've been heart broken a few times, i broke hearts a few times, i cheated, there were familial crises, but... although i can feel, and play a drama queen (in my case: king), those intense emotions never last long, and i can put my mind back to work... i see thing in the bigger picture, and that'w why i never get lost in my emotions... i try to transcend them...

That's true, i make lots of stuff matter of fact, just minutes after they've happened... it's over with my girl, okay, not fun, but i won't die and there's always someone new (but you never know when she arrives, but well, that's the fun of unpredictability).

Many with Moon void lack the usual connection with their mother, which is true with me. Well, i cut the ties a few yrs ago... Feel good about it, cause she gave me lots of her frustrations, while i have my own...
